4 Introduction Your new digital projector is simple to co nnect, easy to use, and strai ghtforward to maintain. It is a versatile projector that is flexible enough fo r business presentation s and home video viewing too.
5 Connector panel The projector provides both co mputer and video connection optio ns, including: • VGA computer • Composite video •H D M I •S - v i d e o • USB mini B connector for firmware u pgrades and presentation slide control. • Monitor out, for VGA pass thro ugh to an external monitor.
6 Positioning the projector To determine where to position the projector, co nsider the size and shape of your screen, the location of your power outlets, and the distance between the projector and the rest of your equipmen t. He re are some general guidelin es: • Position the pro jector on a flat surface at a right angle t o the screen.
7 Connecting a computer source VGA connection Connect one end of the provided compu ter cable to the Computer in 1/Computer in 2 connector on the projecto r and the other to the VGA connector on your co mputer. If you are using a de sktop comp uter, you wil l need to discon nect the monitor cable fro m the computer’s video port f irst.
8 Displaying an image Press the Power button. The Power LED lights blue, and the fans start to run. When the lamp comes on, the start up screen displays. It can t ake up to a minute fo r the image to achieve full brightness. Note: When the feature, AC Power On, is enabled, th e projector autom atically turns o n when power is connected.
9 Adjusting the image If necessary, adjust th e height of the projector by rotat ing the elevator foot to extend the foot. If necessary, rotate the levelin g foot located at th e rear of th e projector. Avoid placin g your hand s near the hot exhaust vent at t he front of th e projecto r.
10 Connecting a video device You can connect video devi ces such as VCRs, DVD pl ayers, camcorders , digital cameras, video game consoles, HDTV receivers, and TV tuners to the project or.
11 Shutting down the projector Auto Off Time The projector also has an Auto Off Time feat ure that automatically turns the proj ector off after no active sou rces are detected and no user interaction with the projector is performed for 30 minutes. By def ault, this feature is of f.

19 Using the remote control The remote uses two (2) AAA batteries (not provided). They are easily installed by removing the cover from the remote’s back, aligning the + and - ends of the batteries, sliding them in to place, and then replacing the co ver.
20 Using the audio Using the projector’s speakers Connect the audi o source to the Audio In co nnectors to hear audio through the projector speakers. Amplified speakers may also be connected to the project or using the Audio Out connecto r. To adjust the volume, pres s the Volume buttons on the remote.
21 Using the keypad buttons Most buttons are descri bed in detail in oth er sections, but here is an overview of their functions: Power –turns the proj ector on and off (page 8). Right arrow/Presets - Wh en the menu is displ ayed, the right arrow button na vi - gates through the menu.
22 Optimizing computer images After the projector is running and the image is on the screen, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menu s. For general information on using the menus , see page 24. • Select default image settings using a preset appropriate to yo ur environment.
23 Optimizing video images After your video device is connected p roperly and the image is on the scree n, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general information on using the menus, see page 24. • Adjust the Keystone, Contrast, Brightness, Co lor, or Tint ( page 25 ).
24 Using the menus 1 To open the menus, press the Menu button on the ke ypad or remote. (The menus automatically cl ose after 60 second s if no buttons are presse d.) Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to review the menu o ptions. 2 To enter a submenu, highlight the desi red submenu and pres s > on the keypad or Select on remot e.
25 Basic Menu To adjust the following setti ngs, highlight the setting, use the right and left arrows to adjust the values. Aspect Ratio : Aspect ratio is the ratio of the image width to image height. TV screens are usually 4:3. HDTV and most DVDs are 16:9.
26 Advanced Menu Image: 3D Control: 3D Control: allows you to enjoy 3D (stereo scopic) content. Your projector supports two synchronization modes (External Sync and DLP Link™) for controlling LCD shutter glasses. In addition t o the projector, you will need a pair of 3D shutter glasses, 3D conten t, and 3D compatible source (and emit - ter).

28 Lamp... Programmed Dimming : When enabled, Programmed Dimming enhances con - trast ratios in dark scenes and disables Lamp Low Power. Program med Dim - ming will impact l amp life and system noise performance. Programm ed Dimming works in con junction with the lamp.
29 Timer Auto Off Time : automatically t urns the projector o ff after no signals are detected for a preset number of minutes. If an active signal is received b efore the projector powers do wn, the image will be displayed.
30 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-abrasive camera lens cleaner to a soft, dry cloth. • Projector must be off and the lens must be at ro om temperature. • Avoid using an excessive amount of cleaner, and don’t apply the cleaner directly to the lens.
31 Replacing the projection lamp The Lamp Hours timer in the Projector Info me nu counts the number of hours the lamp has been in use. Twenty ho urs before the lamp life expires, the message “Replace lamp” appears on the screen at startup. • NOTE : Be sure to us e the InFocus lamp module designed for thi s projector.
32 1 Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord. 2 Wait 60 minutes to allow the projector to cool tho roughly. 3 Remove the lamp door, located on top of the projector, by removing the screw on the side of the lamp door, sliding the doo r forward, and lift ing the lamp door off.
