SSS1052 Seat lifter: 1. Pull up or push down the adjusting switch to adjust the seat height until the desired position is achieved. 2. Tilt up or down the adjusting switch to adjust the front angle of the seat until the desired position is achieved (for driver ’ s seat).

. Do not allow people to ride in any area of your vehicle that is not equipped with seats and seat belts. Be sure everyone in your vehicle is in a seat and using a seat belt properly. . Do not fold down the rear seats when occupants are in the rear seat area or any cargo is on the rear seats.

CAUTION When folding the 2nd row seat for maximum cargo hauling, be sure that cargo does not contact the cent er console of the captain ’ s seat (if so equipped) to avoid possible damage to the console.

. Do not wear the seat belt inside out or twisted. Doing so may reduce its effec- tiveness. . Do not allow more than one person to use the same seat belt.

The seat belt should be worn snug, and always position the lap belt as low as possible around the hips, not the waist, and place the shoulder belt over your shoulder and across your chest.

1-26 Safety — seats, seat belts and supplemental restraint system SSS0292 Fastening the seat belts 1. Adjust the seat. (See “ Seats ” earlier in this section.) 2. Slowly pull the seat belt out of the retractor and insert the tongue into the buck le until you hear and feel the latch engage.
The ELR locks the seat belt when the vehicle slows down rapidly or during impacts. The Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) mode (child restraint mode) locks the seat belt for child restraint installation. When the ALR mode is activated the seat belt cannot be extended again until the seat belt tongue is detached from the buck le and fully retracted.

SSS1077 Stowing 3rd row center seat belt: When folding down the 3rd row seat, the 3rd center seat belt can be retracted into a stowed position. 1. Hold the connector tongue * 1 so that the seat belt does not retract suddenly when the tongue is released from the connector buckle.

Booster seats are used to help position a vehicle lap/shoulder belt on a child who can no longer use a forward-facing child restraint. WARNING Infants and children need special protection. The vehicle ’ s seat belts may not fit them properly. The shoulder belt may come too close to the face or neck.

SSS1073 3rd row bench seat TOP TETHER STRAP CHILD RE- STRAINT If the manufacturer of your child restraint requires the use of a top tether strap, it must be secured to an anchor point. WARNING . In the 3rd row bench seat, a child restraint with a top tether strap can only be used in the center position.

SSS0650 Rear-facing — step 4 4. After attaching the child restraint, test it before you place the child in it. Push it from side to side while holding the child restraint near the LATCH attach- ment path. The child restraint should not move more than 1 inch (25 mm), from side to side.

SSS0655 Rear-facing — step 3 3. Pull the shoulder belt until the belt is fully extended. At this time, the seat belt retractor is in the Automatic Lock - ing Retractor (ALR) mode (child restraint mode). It reverts to the Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) mode when the seat belt is fully retracted.

SSS1092 FRONT SEA T-MOUNTED SIDE-IM- P ACT SUPPLEMENT AL AIR BAG AND ROOF-MOUNTED CURT AIN SIDE-IM- P ACT AND ROLL OVER SUPPLEMEN- T AL AIR BAG SYSTEMS The side air bags are located in the outside of the seatback of the front seats. The curtain and rollover air bags are located in the side roof rails.

. No unauthorized changes should be made to any components or wiring of the pretensioner system. This is to prevent damage to or accidental activa- tion of the pretensioners. T ampering with the pretensioner system may result in serious personal injury.

SIC4369 Speedometer SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER Speedometer The speedometer indicates vehicle speed in miles per hour (MPH) and kilometers per hour (km/h).
2-8 Instruments and controls SIC4371 T ACHOMETER The tachometer indicates engine speed in revolutions per minute (RPM). Do not rev the engine into the red zone * 1 . CAUTION When engine speed approaches the red zone, shift to a higher gear or reduce engine speed.
SIC4374 FUEL GAUGE The gauge indicates the approximate fuel level in the tank. The gauge may move slightly during braking, turning, acceleration, or going up or down hills. The gauge needle returns to 0 (Empty) after the ignition switch is pushed to the OFF position.
2-10 Instruments and controls CAUTION . This gauge is not designed to indicate low engine oil level. Use the dipstick to chec k the oil level. (See “ Engine oil ” in the “ 8. Maintenance and do-it-yourself ” section.) . If the gauge needle does not move with the proper amount of engine oil, have the vehicle checked by an INFINITI retailer.

WARNING . Never rely solely on the hill start assist system to prevent the vehicle from moving backward on a hill. Always drive carefully and attentively. Depress the brake pedal when the vehicle is stopped on a steep hill. Be especially careful when stopped on a hill on frozen or muddy roads.

Under certain driving conditions, the VDC system helps to perform the following functions. .
