PRECAUTIONS ON SEAT BELT USAGE If you are wearing your seat belt properly adjusted, and you are sitting upright and well back in your seat with both feet on the floor, your chances of being injured or killed in an accident and/or the severity of injury may be greatly reduced.
WARNING ● Every person who drives or rides in this ve- hicle should use a seat belt at all times. Chil- dren should be properly restrained in the rear seat and, if appropriate, in a child restraint. ● The seat belt should be properly adjusted to a snug fit.
CHILD SAFETY Children need adults to help protect them. They need to be properly restrained. In addition to the general information in this manual, child safety information is available from many other sources, including doctors, teachers, government traffic safety offices, and community organizations.
Infants Infants up to at least 1 year old should be placed in a rear-facing child restraint. INFINITI recom- mends that infants be placed in child restraints that comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards or Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Stan- dards.
If the seat belt warning light blinks even if the driver’s and front passenger’s seat belts are fastened, it may indicate the pre-crash seat belt system has a malfunction.
of movement in the seat. The ELR locks the seat belt when the vehicle slows down rapidly or during impacts. The Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) mode (child restraint mode) locks the seat belt for child restraint installation.
Center of rear seat (Sedan) Selecting correct set of seat belts : The center seat belt buckle is identified by the CENTER mark 䊊 A . The center seat belt tongue can be fastened only into the center seat belt buckle.
Shoulder belt arm (for Coupe front seats) Before fastening the seat belt, pull the shoulder belt arm forward until it clicks at the lock position. The arm can also be folded down for easier access for rear seat passengers. Pulling the arm forward will allow an easy access to the belt.
PRECAUTIONS ON CHILD RESTRAINTS WARNING ● Infants and small children should always be placed in an appropriate child restraint while riding in the vehicle. Failure to use a child restraint can result in serious injury or death. ● Infants and small children should never be carried on your lap.
● Adjustable seatbacks should be positioned to fit the child restraint, but as upright as possible. ● After attaching the child restraint, test it be- fore you place the child in it. Push it from side to side while holding the seat near the LATCH attachment or near the seat belt path.
LOWER ANCHORS AND TETHERS FOR CHILDREN SYSTEM (LATCH) Your vehicle is equipped with special anchor points that are used with Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren System (LATCH) compatible child restraints. This system may also be re- ferred to as the ISOFIX or ISOFIX compatible system.
LATCH lower anchor point locations The LATCH lower anchors are located at the rear of the seat cushion near the seatback. A label is attached to the seatback to help you locate the LATCH anchors. WARNING ● Attach LATCH system compatible child re- straints only at the locations shown in the illustration.
LATCH child restraints generally require the use of a top tether strap. (See “TOP TETHER STRAP CHILD RESTRAINT” later in this section for in- stallation instructions.) When installing a child restraint, carefully read and follow the instructions in this manual and those supplied with the child restraint.
2. If necessary, raise or remove the headrest to position the top tether strap over the top of the seatback. If the headrest is removed, store it in a secure place. Be sure to reinstall the headrest when the child restraint is removed. See ⬙ Adjust- able headrest ⬙ in this section for headrest adjustment, removal and installation in- formation.
2. Secure the child restraint anchor attach- ments to the LATCH lower anchors. Check to make sure the LATCH attachment is properly attached to the lower anchor.
7. Check to make sure the child restraint is properly secured prior to each use. If the child restraint is loose, repeat steps 3 through 6. Rear-facing Follow these steps to install a rear-facing child restraint using LATCH system: 1. Position the child restraint on the seat.

WARNING ● Do not leave children or adults who would normally require the support of others alone in your vehicle. Pets should not be left alone either. They could accidentally injure them- selves or others through inadvertent opera- tion of the vehicle.
CAUTION ● Do not use leaded gasoline. Deposits from leaded gasoline seriously reduce the three- way catalyst’s ability to help reduce exhaust pollutants. ● Keep your engine tuned up. Malfunctions in the ignition, fuel injection, or electrical sys- tems can cause overrich fuel flow into the three-way catalyst, causing it to overheat.
Also, this system may not detect a sudden drop in tire pressure (for example a flat tire while driving). ● The low tire pressure warning light does not automatically turn off when the tire pressure is adjusted.
● Replacing tires with those not originally specified by INFINITI could affect the proper operation of the TPMS. ● Do not inject any tire liquid or aerosol tire sealant into the tires, as this may cause a malfunction of the tire pressure sensors.
cantly more likely to be injured or killed than a person properly wearing a seat belt. OFF-ROAD RECOVERY If the right side or left side wheels may unin- tentionally leave the road surface, maintain control of the vehicle by following the proce- dure below.

The Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) system au- tomatically maintains a selected distance from the vehicle traveling in front of you according to that vehicle’s speed (up to the set speed), or at the set speed when the road ahead is clear.
1. Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode 2. Conventional (fixed speed) cruise control mode Push the MAIN switch 䊊 A to choose the cruise control mode between the vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode 䊊 1 and the conventional (fixed speed) cruise control mode 䊊 2 .
PRECAUTIONS ON VEHICLE-TO- VEHICLE DISTANCE CONTROL MODE The system is intended to enhance the opera- tion of the vehicle when following a vehicle traveling in the same lane and direction.
This system will not automatically brake the ve- hicle to a stop. WARNING ● As there is a performance limit to the dis- tance control function, never rely solely on the Intelligent Cruise Control system. This system does not correct careless, inatten- tive or absent-minded driving, or overcome poor visibility in rain, fog, or other bad weather.
VEHICLE-TO-VEHICLE DISTANCE CONTROL MODE OPERATION Always pay attention to the operation of the vehicle and be ready to manually control the proper following distance.
instances, the vehicle-to-vehicle distance con- trol mode may not cancel and may not be able to maintain the selected following distance from the vehicle ahead.
The detection zone of the ICC sensor is limited. A vehicle ahead must be in the detection zone for the vehicle-to-vehicle distance detection mode to maintain the selected distance from the vehicle ahead. A vehicle ahead may move outside of the de- tection zone due to its position within the same lane of travel.
When driving on some roads, such as winding, hilly, curved, narrow roads, or roads which are under construction, the ICC sensor may detect vehicles in a different lane, or may temporarily not detect a vehicle traveling ahead. This may cause the ICC system to decelerate or acceler- ate the vehicle.
Intelligent cruise control switch The system is operated by a MAIN switch and four control switches, all mounted on the steer- ing wheel. 1. RESUME/ACCELERATE switch: Resumes set speed or increases speed incrementally. 2. SET/COAST switch: Sets desired cruise speed, reduces speed incrementally.
5. Set vehicle speed indicator: Indicates the set vehicle speed. For Canadian models, the speed is dis- played in km/h. 6. Intelligent Cruise Control system warn- ing light (orange): The light comes on if there is a malfunc- tion in the ICC system.
To set cruising speed, accelerate your vehicle to the desired speed, push the SET/COAST switch and release it. (Vehicle ahead detection indica- tor, set distance indicator and set vehicle speed indicator come on.) Take your foot off the accelerator pedal.
1. System set display with vehicle ahead 2. System set display without vehicle ahead System operation WARNING Normally when controlling the distance to a vehicle ahead, this system automatically accel- erates or decelerates your vehicle according to the speed of the vehicle ahead.
When a vehicle is no longer detected the vehicle ahead detection indicator turns off. If a vehicle ahead appears during acceleration to the set vehicle speed or any time the ICC system is in operation, the system controls the distance to that vehicle.
● Push, then quickly release the SET/COAST switch. Each time you do this, the set speed will decrease by approximately 1 MPH (1 km/h for Canada). To resume the preset speed, push and release the RESUME/ACCELERATE switch. The vehicle will resume the last set cruising speed when the vehicle speed is over 25 MPH (40 km/h).
Each time the DISTANCE switch 䊊 A is pushed, the set distance will change to long, middle, short and back to long again in that sequence. ● The distance to the vehicle ahead will change according to the vehicle speed. The higher the vehicle speed, the longer the distance.
The warning chime will not sound when: ● Your vehicle approaches other vehicles that are parked or moving slowly. ● The accelerator pedal is depressed, overrid- ing the system.
Warning light and display Condition A : The chime sounds and the Intelligent Cruise Control system is canceled automatically in the conditions described below.
Condition C : When the ICC system is not operating properly, the chime sounds and the ICC system warning light (orange) will come on. Action to take : If the warning light comes on, park the vehicle in a safe place. Turn the engine off, restart the engine, resume driving and set the ICC system again.
cause failure or malfunction. If the sensor is damaged due to an accident, contact an INFINITI retailer. ● Do not attach a sticker (including transpar- ent material) or install an accessory near the sensor. This could cause failure or malfunc- tion.
Conventional (fixed speed) cruise control mode display and indicators The display is located between the speedom- eter and tachometer. 1. MAIN switch indicator: Indicates that the MAIN switch is ON.
To set cruising speed, accelerate your vehicle to the desired speed, push the SET/COAST switch and release it. (The SET indicator will come on in the display.) Take your foot off the accelerator pedal. Your vehicle will maintain the set speed. ● To pass another vehicle, depress the accel- erator pedal.
Warning light When the system is not operating properly, the chime sounds and the system warning light (orange) will come on. Action to take : If the warning light comes on, park the vehicle in a safe place. Turn the engine off, restart the engine, resume driving and then perform the setting again.
● Accelerate slowly and smoothly. Maintain cruising speeds with a constant accelerator position. ● Drive at moderate speeds on the highway. ● Avoid unnecessary stopping and braking. Keep a safe distance behind other vehicles. ● Select a gear range suitable to road condi- tions.
WARNING ● For AWD equipped vehicles, do not attempt to raise two wheels off the ground and shift the transmission to any drive or reverse po- sition with the engine running. Doing so may result in drivetrain damage or unexpected vehicle movement which could result in seri- ous vehicle damage or personal injury.
WARNING ● Do not stop or park the vehicle over flam- mable materials such as dry grass, waste paper or rags. They may ignite and cause a fire. ● Never leave the engine running while the vehicle is unattended. ● Do not leave children unattended inside the vehicle.
WARNING ● The sonar system is a convenience but it is not a substitute for proper parking. Always look around and check that it is safe to do so before parking. Always move slowly. ● Read and understand the limitations of the sonar system as contained in this section.
The sensitivity level of the corner/center sonar can be adjusted (higher or lower) in the SONAR setting display. (See “HOW TO USE SETTING BUTTON” in the “4. Monitor, climate, audio, phone and voice recognition systems” section for the “Sonar” settings.
SONAR SYSTEM OFF SWITCH The sonar system OFF switch on the instrument panel allows the driver to turn the sonar system on and off. To turn the sonar system on and off, the ignition switch must be in the “ON” posi- tion. The indicator light 䊊 1 on the switch will illuminate when the system is turned off.
PARKING BRAKE BREAK-IN Break in the parking brake shoes whenever the stopping effect of the parking brake is weak- ened or whenever the parking brake shoes and/or drums/rotors are replaced, in order to assure the best braking performance. This procedure is described in the vehicle ser- vice manual and can be performed by an INFINITI retailer.
● The pre-pressure function ceases when the following conditions are met: a) When the driver depresses the accel- erator pedal or the brake pedal. b) If the driver does not operate the ac- celerator or brake pedal within ap- proximately 1 second.
● When the Preview Function operates, the brake pedal may move slightly and may make a small noise. This is not a system malfunction. Warning light and display When the Preview Function is not operating properly, a chime sounds and the system warn- ing light (orange) will come on.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) WARNING ● The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is a so- phisticated device, but it cannot prevent ac- cidents resulting from careless or dangerous driving techniques. It can help maintain ve- hicle control during braking on slippery sur- faces.
Normal operation The ABS operates at speeds above 3 to 6 MPH (5 to 10 km/h). When the ABS senses that one or more wheels are close to locking up, the actuator rapidly applies and releases hydraulic pressure. This action is similar to pumping the brakes very quickly.
See “Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) warning light” in the “2. Instruments and controls” section and “Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) off indicator light” in the “2.
FREEING A FROZEN DOOR LOCK To prevent a door lock from freezing, apply deicer through the key hole. If the lock becomes frozen, heat the key before inserting it into the key hole or use the Intelligent Key system.
● Allow more stopping distance under these conditions. Braking should be started sooner than on dry pavement. ● Allow greater following distances on slip- pery roads. ● Watch for slippery spots (glare ice). These may appear on an otherwise clear road in shaded areas.

If you have a flat tire, see “FLAT TIRE” in the “6. In case of emergency” section. TIRE PRESSURE Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) This vehicle is equipped with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). It monitors tire pressure of all tires except the spare.
● Before taking a long trip, or whenever you heavily load your vehicle, use a tire pressure gauge to ensure that the tire pressures are at the specified level. ● For additional information regarding tires, refer to “Important Tire Safety Information” (US) or “Tire Safety In- formation” (Canada) in the Warranty Information Booklet.
Tire and Loading Information label 䊊 1 Seating capacity: The maximum number of occupants that can be seated in the vehicle. 䊊 2 Vehicle load limit: See “VEHICLE LOADING INFORMATION” in the “9. Technical and consumer informa- tion” section.
Checking the tire pressure 1. Remove the valve stem cap from the tire. 2. Press the pressure gauge squarely onto the valve stem. Do not press too hard or force the valve stem side- ways, or air will escape. If the hissing sound of air escaping from the tire is heard while checking the pressure, reposition the gauge to eliminate this leakage.
