Part 1. Using the DVD Drive The UltraslimBay DVD drive (hereafter called DVD drive ) supports the ThinkPad 600 series computer, including the 600 or 600E in the Windows 95 or Windows 98 environment. To use the DVD drive in your computer, you need to install the software programs after inserting the DVD drive into the UltraslimBay.
Installing the DVD Drive in the UltraslimBay This section describes how to install the DVD drive. Before you begin the installation, make sure that the DVD Software CD-ROM, which includes software programs, was shipped with the DVD drive. If a device is already installed in the UltraslimBay, go to “Removing a Device from the UltraslimBay.
Installing the DVD Drive in the UltraslimBay To install the DVD drive in the UltraslimBay, insert the drive into the UltraslimBay. Make sure you connect the drive firmly.
3 Click on Start and move the cursor to Settings ; then click on Control Panel . 4 Double-click on Add New Hardware . 5 Click on Next . (For Windows 98, click on Next again.) 6 Select No and click on Next . (For Windows 98, select No again and click on Next .
9 Select Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now. (Recommended) by clicking on it. Then click on Next . 10 Put a check mark in the Floppy disk drives check box by clicking on it. 11 Insert the Display Driver Diskette (NM2160) for Windows 98/95 into the diskette drive, and click on Next .
12 Select your screen parameters from the color palette, desktop area, and font size; then click on Close . 13 Specify the type of monitor as follows. (If you do not specify the type of monitor you want to use, your new settings might not function correctly.
Follow the instructions on the screen. Installation Instructions for Windows 95 To install the DVD movie player program for Windows 95, do the following: 1 Install DirectX 5.0 (for OSR2.0 or OSR2.1 users). a. Insert the DVD Software CD-ROM in the DVD drive.
To select the region code, do the following: 1 Click on Start , move the cursor to Programs and Mediamatics DVD Express , and then click on Mediamatics DVD Player . The “Select DVD Region” window appears. 2 Select the region code and click on OK .
