English – 5 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Chain brake and front hand guar d Y our chain saw is equipped with a chain br ake that is designed to stop the chain immediately if you get a kic kback. The chain brak e reduces the risk of accidents, but only y ou can pre vent them.

8 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Grasp the chain sa w firmly , wrapping y our fingers and thumbs around the handles. Apply full throttle and activate the chain br ake b y tilting your left wrist forw ard onto the front hand guard. Do not let go of the front handle.
English – 9 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Muffler Ne ver use a machine that has a f aulty muffler . Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine. If the muffler on y our machine is fitted with a spark arrestor mesh this must be cleaned regularly .
10 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Chain A chain is made up of a number of links, which are a vailable in standard and low-kic kback v ersions. Combining these links in diff erent wa ys gives diff erent degrees of kic kback reduction. In ter ms of kickbac k reduction alone, f our different types of link are a vailab le.

12 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • Alwa ys file cutting teeth from the inside face. Reduce the pressure on the return stroke. File all the teeth on one side first, then turn the chain saw ov er and file the teeth on the other side. • File all the teeth to the same length.
English – 13 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • Raise the tip of the bar and stretch the chain by tightening the chain tensioning screw using the combination spanner . Tighten the chain until it does not sag from the underside of the bar . • Use the combination spanner to tighten the bar nuts while lifting the tip of the bar at the same time.
14 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Lubricating the bar tip sproc ket Lubricate the bar tip sprocket each time y ou refuel. Use the special grease gun and a good quality bearing grease.
English – 15 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS How to a void kic kback What is kickbac k? The word kic kback is used to describe the sudden reaction that causes the chain saw and bar to jump off an object when the upper quadrant of the tip of the bar , known as the kic kback zone , touches an object.

English – 19 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS T erms Cutting = General term for cutting through wood. Limbing = Cutting branches off a f elled tree. Splitting = When the object you are cutting breaks off before the cut is complete.
20 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS The log is supported at both ends. There is a high risk that the chain will jam. Star t by cutting from abo v e (about 1/3 of the wa y through). Finish by cutting from belo w so that the two cuts meet. Limbing When limbing thick br anches you should use the same approach as f or cutting.
English – 21 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Remov e any undergrowth from the base of the tree and chec k the area f or obstacles (stones, branches , holes, etc.) so that you ha ve a clear path of retreat when the tree star ts to f all. Y our path of retreat should be roughly 135 degrees a wa y from the intended f elling direction.
22 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS W e recommend that you use a bar that is longer than the diameter of the tree, so that y ou can make the f elling cut and directional cuts with single cutting strokes . See the T echnical data section to find out which lengths of bar are recommended f or your sa w .

24 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain br ake is in disengaged position b y moving the front hand guard to wards the front handle . Remov e the bar nuts and remove the clutch co v er (chain brak e). T ake off the transportation r ing (A).
English – 25 FUEL HANDLING Fuel CA UTION! The machine is equipped with a two-strok e engine and must alwa ys been run using a mixture of petrol and two- stroke engine oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
26 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuelling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter m ust be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is w ell mix ed by shaking the container bef ore refuelling.
English – 27 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Star ting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brak e must be engaged when the chain saw is started. Activate the brak e by mo ving the front hand guard f orwards . Ignition: Slide the ignition s witch to the left.
28 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Reactivate the chain br ake b y pushing the front hand guard back to wards the front handle . The chain saw is now ready f or use.
English – 29 MAINTENANCE Carb urettor Function, Basic settings, Fine adjustment Function • The carburettor go v erns the engine’s speed via the throttle control. Air and fuel are mixed in the carb urettor. The air/fuel mixture is adjustable . Correct adjustment is essential to get the best perf ormance from the machine.
30 – English MAINTENANCE High speed jet H • The high speed jet H influences the power and engine speed of the machine. If the high speed jet is set too rich (H-jet screw ed in too f ar) the machine will ov er-re v and this will damage the engine.
English – 31 MAINTENANCE T ensioning the recoil spring • Hook the star ter cord in the notch in the pulley and turn the star ter pulley about 2 turns clockwise . CA UTION! Check that the pulle y can be tur ned at least a fur ther 1/2 turn when the star ter cord is pulled all the way out.
32 – English MAINTENANCE Muffler The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the e xhaust gases aw a y from the operator . The e xhaust gases are hot and can contain sparks, which ma y cause fire if directed against dr y and comb ustible material.
English – 33 MAINTENANCE ”Air Injection” centrifugal cleaning Centrifugal cleaning means the follo wing: All air to the carburettor passes through the starter . Dir t and dust is centrifuged out by the cooling f an. IMPOR T ANT! In order to maintain operation of the centrifugal cleaning system it must be regularly maintained.
