8 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Vibration damping system Y our machine is equipped with a vibration damping system that is designed to reduce vibration and mak e operation easier .
English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Regularly check that the muf fl er is securely attached to the machine. If the muf fl er on y our machine is fi tted with a spar k arrestor mesh this must be cleaned regularly . A block ed mesh will cause the engine to ov erheat and may lead to serious damage.
10 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting equipment Saw b lades are intended for cutting fi brous types of w ood. Grass b lades and grass cutters are intended f or cutting coarse grass .
English – 11 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Adjust the blade setting. This should be 1 mm. T rimmer head • Only use the recommended trimmer heads and tr immer cords. These hav e been tested by the manuf acturer to suit a par ticular engine size. This is especially impor tant when a fully automatic trimmer head is used.
12 – English ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebar and thr ottle • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle . • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram). • Align the screw hole in the throttle handle with the hole in the handlebar .
English – 13 ASSEMBL Y Fitting a blade guar d, grass blade and grass cutter • Hook the blade guard/combination guard (A) onto the fi tting on the shaft and secure with the bolt. CA UTION! Ensure that the guard e xtension is removed. Use the recommended blade guard.
14 – English ASSEMBL Y • When loosening and tightening the saw b lade nut, there is a risk of injur y from the teeth of the saw blade . Y ou should theref ore alwa ys ensure that your hand is shielded by the blade guard when doing this . Alwa ys use a sock et spanner with a shaft that is long enough to allow this .
English – 15 ASSEMBL Y Adjusting the harness and c learing saw Standar d harness Quic k release At the front is an easily accessible , quick release . Use this if the engine catches fi re or in any other emergency situation that requires you to free y ourself from the machine and harness.
16 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate . 2 If you ha ve spilt fuel on y ourself or your clothes , change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
English – 17 FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by fi lling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
18 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k before starting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks ha ve f ormed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .
English – 19 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Hold the body of the machine on the ground using y our left hand (CA UTION! Not with your f oot!). Gr ip the star ter handle, slowly pull out the cord with y our right hand until you feel some resistance (the star ter pawls grip), now quic kly and powerfully pull the cord.
20 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES General w orking instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot aff ect your control of the machine.
English – 21 W ORKING TECHNIQUES W orking methods • Bef ore you star t clearing, check the clearing area, the type of terrain, the slope of the ground, whether there are stones, hollo ws etc. • Star t at whichev er end of the area is easiest, and clear an open space from which to work.
22 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES • Large stems must be cut from two sides . First determine which direction the stem will f all. Make the fi rst cut on the f elling side. Then fi nish cutting the stem from the other side. Adjust the cutting pressure to match the size of the stem and the hardness of the wood.
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQUES Clearing • The clearing technique removes all unw anted vegetation. K eep the trimmer head just above the g round and tilt it. Let the end of the cord strike the ground around trees , posts, statues and the like . CA UTION! This technique increases the wear on the cord.
24 – English MAINTENANCE Carb uretor Y our Husqv ar na product has been designed and manuf actured to speci fi cations that reduce har mful emissions.
English – 25 MAINTENANCE will run smoothly in ev er y position. The idle speed should also be well below the speed at which the cutting attachment starts to rotate. W ARNING! If the idle speed cannot be adjusted so that the cutting attachment stops, contact y our dealer/ser vice workshop .
26 – English MAINTENANCE If the mesh is frequently bloc ked, this can be a sign that the perf or mance of the catalytic conv er ter is impaired. Contact your dealer to inspect the m uf fl er . A bloc ked mesh will cause the machine to ov erheat and result in damage to the cylinder and piston.
English – 27 MAINTENANCE Spark plug The spark plug condition is in fl uenced by: • Incorrect carburetor adjustment. • An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or incorrect type of oil). • A dir ty air fi lter . These f actors cause deposits on the spar k plug electrodes, which ma y result in operating problems and starting dif fi culties.
28 – English MAINTENANCE Maintenance sc hedule The f ollowing is a list of the maintenance that must be perf or med on the machine. Most of the items are described in the Maintenance section. The user must only carr y out the maintenance and ser vice work descr ibed in this manual.
