English – 3 Before using a new machine • Read the Operator‘s Manual carefully. • Check the assembly and adjustment of the cutting equipment. See page 18-19. • Start the machine and check the carburettor settings. See page 22-24. IMPOR T ANT! A too lean carburettor adjustment significantly increases the risk of an engine breakdo wn.
4 – English The machine‘s safety equipment This section describes the machine‘ s safety equipment, its function and how checks and maintenance ar e carried out to ensure that it operates correctly . (See the chapter “What is what“ to locate where this equipment is positioned on your machine.
English – 5 6. Muffler The muffler is designed to give the lowest possible noise level and to direct the engine‘ s exhaust fumes away from the operator . M uffler fitted with catalytic converter is also designed to reduce harmful exhaust components.
6 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS 1. Throttle trigger lock • Check that the throttle is locked in the “idling position“ when the throttle trigger lock is in its original position. • Press in the throttle trigger lock and make sure it returns to its original position when released.
English – 7 7. Quick-release • Check that the harness straps are correctly positioned. When the harness and machine are adjusted, check the harness‘ safety release catch to ensure it works correctly.
8 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Filing the grass blade • See the cutting equipment’s packaging for correct filing instructions. • The blades are sharpened using a single cut flat file. • Sharpen all edges equally to maintain the balance of the blade.
English – 9 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS General safety instructions IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION • The machine is only designed for trimming grass, brush cutting and/or forestry clearing. • The only accessories to be used with the engine unit as a drive source are the cutting units we recommend in the chapter “T echnical data“ .
10 – English General working instructions SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS 4. Take great care when cutting a tree that is subject to tension. A tree that is under tension can spring back to its original position both before and after being cut.
English – 11 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Adjusting the harness and clearing saw Designations • Forestry clearing is a general term for cutting small trees where each stem is cut individually. A saw blade is used. • Brush cutting is a general term for clearing grass.
12 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Clearing‘s ABC A. Always use the correct equipment. B. Always have well adjusted equipment. C. Follow the safety instructions. D. Organise the work well. E. Always use full throttle when applying the blade. F. Always use a sharp blade.
English – 13 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • Large stems must be cut from two sides. Determine in which direction the stem should fall. First apply the saw to the felling side. Then cut from the other side to fell the stem. The feed pressure should be applied with regard to the size of the stem‘s hardness.
14 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Grass trimming using the trimmer head • Hold the trimmer head just above the ground at an angle. It is the end of the cord that carries out the work. Let the cord work at its own pace. Do not press the cord into the area to be cut.

16 – English Assembling the handlebars (225R/RD/ 232R/RD) ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebars (235R) • Remove the screw at the rear of the throttle handle. • Slide on the throttle handle on the right-hand side of the handlebars, (see the diagram).
English – 17 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the J-handlebars (225RJ) • The handlebars can easily be turned to fit along the shaft for easy transportation and storage. • Loosen the knob. Turn the handles clockwise so that the throttle comes against the engine.
18 – English ASSEMBL Y IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION The machine m ust be equipped with the correct handlebars, blade guard and harness if either a clearing b lade or grass blade are to be used. ! W ARNING! Under no circumstances ma y the cutting equipment be used without an appro ved guard fitted.
English – 19 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the spray guard and trimmer head Superauto II (225R/RD/ 232R/RD) K J I G F I M L A K B C • Fit the guard (A) intended for use with the trimmer head. Secure using the 4 bolts (L) and the support plate (M) as set out in the diagram.
20 – English Adjusting the harness and clearing saw ! W ARNING! When working with the c learing saw it should alwa ys be hooked in the harness. If this is not done, you cannot contr ol the clearing sa w safely and this can result in injury to your self or someone else .
English – 21 FUEL HANDLING Fuel mixture • Clean around the fuel cap. Contamination in the tank can disrupt operations. • Ensure that the fuel is well mixed by shaking the container before filling the tank. W ARNING! Alwa ys pr ovide good ventilation when handling fuel.
22 – English ST AR T AND ST OP Control before starting Cold engine IGNITION: Set the stop switch to the start position. CHOKE: Set the choke control in the choke position. Warm engine U se the same star ting procedure as for the cold engine, but do not set the choke control in the choke position.
English – 23 Carburettor Y our Husqvarna pr oduct has been designed and manufactured to specifications that r educe harmful emissions. After your unit has been run 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine has broken in.
24 – English Final setting of the idling speed T Adjust the idling speed with the screw T , If it is necessary to readjust. F irst turn the idle speed adjusting screw T clockwise until the cutting attachment starts to rotate/ move. Then turn, counter- clockwise until the cutting attachment stops.
English – 25 MAINTENANCE Cooling system T o maintain as low opera- ting temperature as possible the engine is equipped with a cooling system. The cooling system consists of: 1. An air intake on the starter unit. 2. Cooling fins on the flywheel. 3. Cooling fins on the cylinder 4.
26 – English MAINTENANCE Spark plug The condition of the spark plug is affected by: • An incorrect carburettor setting. • An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or faulty oil). • A dirty air filter. These factors cause deposits on the spark plug electrode that may result in malfunction or starting difficulties.
