How Sonar W orks Sonar technology is based on sound wav es. The 700 Series™ Fishing System uses sonar to locate and define structure, bottom contour and composition, as well as depth directly belo w the transducer .
The sound pulses ar e transmitted at various frequencies depending on the application. V ery high frequencies (455kHz) are used f or greatest definition but the operating depth is limited. High frequencies (200kHz) are commonly used on consumer sonar and provide a good balance between depth performance and r esolution.
DualBeam PLUS™ Sonar Y our 700 Series™ Fishing System uses a 200/83 kHz DualBeam PLUS™ sonar system with a wide (60°) area of cov erage. DualBeam PLUS™ sonar has a narrowly f ocused 20° center beam, surrounded by a second beam of 60°, expanding your cov erage to an area equal to your depth.
QuadraBeam PL US™ Sonar (with optional-purchase QuadraBeam PLUS™ transducer) Y our 700 Series™ Fishing System also supports QuadraBeam PLUS™ sonar with the purchase of an additional QuadraBeam PLUS™ transducer . QuadraBeam PLUS™ sonar provides an extr emely wide 90° area of cover age.
WideSide® Sonar (with optional-purchase WideSide® transducer) Y our 700 Series™ Fishing System also supports WideSide® sonar with the pur chase of an additional WideSide® tr ansducer .
Univer sal Sonar 2 Y our 700 Series™ Fishing System supports Universal Sonar 2, a sta te-of-the- art, integrated and pr otected transducer that is built into the low er unit of Minnkota trolling motor s.
What’s On the Displa y The 700 Series™ F ishing System can display a variety of useful informa tion about the a Depth - water depth; can be set to alarm when the water becomes too shallow . T emperature - water surface temperatur e. Timer - Elapsed time with T emp/Speed Accessory or GPS Receiver .
