8 2.4 Power On or Off Your Mobile Phon e 2.4.1 Powering On Your Mo bile Phone Press and hold . The first time you power on you r phone, you will be asked to sign in to your account and set up your mobile phone.

13 2.7. 2 Noti fica tion Pa nel Your mobile phone will notify you wh en you receive a new mess age or there is an upcoming event. The notification panel al so informs you of alarms and settings. Open the notification panel to see your network operator o r to view a message, reminder, or event no tificati on.
14 2.7.4 Customizing the H ome Screen Adding a New Home Screen Item 1. Touch and hold a blank area on the Ho me screen until the Add to home screen menu is displayed. You can also touch > Add on the Home screen to display the Add to home screen menu.

16 3 Calling To make a phone call, you can dial a numb er using the keypad or touch a numbe r saved in your contact list, on a web page, or in other places. When yo u are in a call, you can answer other incoming calls or redirect them to your voicem ail.
17 3.1. 3 Making a Cal l fr om Call log 1. On the Home screen, touch > Call log to display the call log. If you are alre ady working w ith Contacts or Dialer , touch the Call lo g tab. 2. Touch to the right of the log entry to dial. If you touch and hold a log entry, th e options menu will open .
18 3.2.3 Rejecting an Inco ming Call Drag to the left to reject the call. You can also drag up the bar at the bottom of the screen to reject a call an d send the caller a message.
19 3.3. 2 Switchi ng Betwee n Calls If you receive a new ca ll while you are already in a ca ll, you can switch betwee n the two calls. 1. While you are in the first c all and the sec ond call comes in , answer the incoming call, and then touch Swap .
20 4.1 Opening th e Contacts Application If you have not yet added any contacts t o your mobile phone, Contacts displays a message with h ints on how to start adding cont acts information. On the Home screen, touch > Contacts to open the Contacts application.
21 4.5 Searching fo r a Contact 1. In the contact list, touch > Search . 2. Enter the name of the contact you w ish to search for. As you t ype, contacts with matching names ap pear below the search box . On the contact list screen, you can touch a letter on the right to display c ontacts starting with the touc hed letter.
22 4.7.2 Comm unicating with a Contact 1. In the contacts list, touch the con tact that you want to communicate w ith. 2. On the contact’s details screen, touch t he icon to the right of the number to call or send messages. 4.8 Deleting a Co ntact 1.
23 4.9. 2 Using a Google Ac count t o Synchr onize Con tact s You can sync hronize contacts using your Google ac count. For deta ils, see Changing an Account’s Synch ronization Settings. 4.10 Managing Grou ps 4.10.1 Creating a Group 1. On the Home screen, touch > Contacts .
24 4.11 Joining and Sep arating Contacts You may have duplicate c ontacts if you import contacts by : • Adding an account, s uch as a Gmail account. • Using other metho ds, such as exchang ing emails. To avoid duplication, join two or mor e contacts together to form a single contact .
25 4.12 Sending Contacts You can send contacts as a .vc f file via Bluetooth or Email. 1. In the contacts list, touch . 2. Select contacts that you want to sen d. 3. Touch Send . 4. Select the way you prefer to send the c ontacts you have se lected, for example Bluetooth or Email.
26 5.1. 2 Usin g the Andr oid Ke yboard The keyboard layout may v ary slightly depending on the fie ld where you are entering text. The previous figur e is provided for your reference only. On the Home screen, touch > Settings > Language & keyboard > Android keyboard > Voice input to turn on or turn off voice input.
27 6 Messaging The Messaging application allows you to ex change text messa ges (SMS) and multimedia messages (MMS) with anyone using an SMS-or-MMS-c apable phone. With the Email application you can rea d and send emails. 6.1 SMS and MMS 6.1.1 Opening M essaging Touch > Messaging .
28 6.1. 3 Creat ing and Sending a Multimed ia Messag e You can use mult imedia messages to mak e everyday communica tions very special. You can record a messa ge and send it as an audio file, sing 'Happy Birthday' and send it to friend, or send a slid eshow of photographs of a special event.
29 6.1.4 Opening a nd Viewing a Mu ltimedia Message 1. In the message list, touch the message t hread you wish to view. 2. Touch the multimedia message to view the mess age. 6.1. 5 Replyi ng to a Message 1. In the message list, touch a text or multimedia messag e thread to open it.
30 6.2 Email Your mobile phone also puts email at your fingertips. With you r phone’s Email application, you can u se your email account with Yahoo!, AOL, or other popular email services on your phone. 6.2.1 Adding an E mail Account When us ing the Email application for the first time , you must configure an email account.
31 6.2. 3 Saving an Email A ttachme nt 1. On the accounts screen, touch the ema il account you want to use. 2. Touch the email message you want to view. 3. Touch Save next to the attachment in the email. 4. Select a path for saving the attac hment and touch Save .
32 6.2.7 Changing Em ail Account Settings You can change a number of account settings, includ ing how often you check fo r emails, how you ar e notified of a new mail, and details about t he servers the acc ount uses to send and receive mails . Your account’s inco ming and outgoing settings depe nd on the kind of email service you are using.
33 7.1.2 Turning on the D ata Service 1. Touch > Settings . 2. Touch Wireless & networks > Mobile networks . 3. Select the Data ena bled check box to turn on t he data connection. 7.2 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi gives you wireless access to broadband Internet.
34 7.3 Sharing You r Phone’s Data Connection You can shar e your mobile p hone's data conn ection with a s ingle compute r via a USB cable: USB tethering . You can share your mobile phon e's data connection with a number of devices at the sa me time, by turning your phone int o a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
35 7.4 Browser Your mobile phone comes wit h an Internet browser pre-in stalled. 7.4.1 Opening the Brow ser Touch > Browser to open the home page. When known or o pen Wi-Fi networks and mo bile data networks are av ailable at the same time, your phone will pref erably select a Wi-Fi network for Internet access.
36 7.4.4 Managing Bo okmarks You can store as many book marks as you want on your mobile phone . Adding a Bookmark 1. In a browser window, go to the webpage you want to sav e as a bookmark. 2. Touch , and then touch Bookmarks > Add . 3. Edit the bookmark name and then touch OK .
37 7.5.1 Turning On Bluetooth 1. Touch > Settings . 2. Touch Wireless & networks , and then select the Bluetooth check box t o turn on Bluetooth.
38 7.5.4 Disconnecting from or Unpairing with a Bluetooth Device 1. Touch > Settings > Wireless & networks > Bluetooth settings . 2. Navigate to the Bluetooth devices section, and then touc h and hold the device to which you are conne cted.
39 8.1. 2 Taking a Photo 1. Open your camera application and sw itch it to camera mode. 2. If necessary, change the camera settings. The preview cha nges as you change the settings. 3. Frame your photo within the pho to capture screen. 4. Touch to take your photo.
40 8.2 Using the Gallery Your Gallery application can automa tically search for pictures and videos on your mobile phone and microSD c ard. Use Gallery to sort photos a nd videos into folders , view and edit pictures, wa tch videos, and set a picture as w allpaper or as a photo for a contact.
41 8.2.4 Cropping a Picture 1. When viewing a picture, touch to display the operation panel, and then to uch More > Crop . 2. Use the cropping tool to select th e portion of the picture to crop. • Drag from the inside of the c ropping tool to move it.
42 8.3. 2 Playi ng Music 1. From the music library, sel ect a way to vie w your music. 2. Touch the music file you want to play. While playing music, touch to return to the Home screen, the music will continue to play in the background and y ou can use other applications.

45 9.2 Gmail Gmail is Google’s web-based email s ervice. When you first set up your phone, you may have configured it to use an existing Gmail account or create a new account. The first time you open the Gmail application on your phone, yo ur Inbox will contain the messages from your Gmail web account.

51 10.1 Managi ng Your Accounts You can synchronize co ntacts, email, and other information on your mobile phone with multiple Google accounts or ot her kinds of ac counts, depending on the applications installed on your mobile pho ne.

55 11.2.2 Creating an Event 1. In any calendar view, touch , and then touch New event to open the Event details screen. If you have more than one calendar, select the calendar where yo u want to save the ev ent. 2. Enter the event name. • If there is a time frame for the event, touch From and To to set the beginning and end times of the event.
56 11.2.4 Setting Synchronization a nd Display The Calendars scre en displays all the calendar s you have added or subscribed to for each account that is config ured to synchronize event s to your phone, organized by account. 61 12 Managing Your Mobile Phone To configure your mobile phone , touch > Settings . 12.1 Setting the Date and Time When your mobile phone is using the dat e and time settings provided automatically by the netwo rk, you cannot manually set th e date, time, and time zone.
