1 1 Getting to Know Y our Phone Y our V odafone 830 phone can operat e in virtually all countries, automa tically switching between WCDMA/HSDP A 2100 and GSM/GPRS 900/1800/ 1900 networks. This allows you to enj oy communica - tion wherever you use yo ur mobile phone.

Introduc tion to the Menu 4 Introduction to the Menu Y our phone provides an extensive range of functions. Y ou can use these functions by navigating the follow - ing menus: We b, Email, Applicat ions, Music, Mes - saging, My Files, Ent ertainmen t, Cont acts, Orga niser & T ools, Mobile TV , Call s an d Settings.
5 2 Getting S t arted Loading the SIM Card Load your SIM card b efore using your phone. T o use the SIM card prop erly , please read th e following instructions carefully . Note • Keep the SIM card out of the reach of chil - dren. • The SIM card and its metal cont acts can be easily damaged by scratching or bending.
Charging the Battery 6 1 Unload the back cover out of the phone. 2 Please unload the battery according to the fo l - lowing picture. 3 Press the SIM card with one f inger and slide it out of the slot. Charging the Battery Before charging the b attery , please read the foll owing precautions careful ly .
Charging the Bat tery 7 2 Getting St arted Before chargi ng the batter y with a cable charger , ensure tha t the batt ery has been pr operly load ed into your phone. T o charge the battery , do as follows: 1 Insert the plug of t he charger into the connector of the phone as shown in th e following figure .
Powering On/Off 8 Powering On/Off Powering On Ensure that the SIM card is in your ph one and that the battery has been charged. Press and hold to power on your phone. Powering Off Press and hold to power of f your phone. Access Codes For setting and changing t he access codes, please refer to "Set tings/Security " on page 41 .
9 3 Call Service Making or Answering Calls Making a V oic e or Video Call Y ou can make a video call to other person whose phone also support s video calls. 1 Enter or edit a phone number in one of the fol - lowing ways: • Enter a phone number through th e keyp ad.
Operations During a V oice C all 10 Note When the phone is closed and there is no ongoing call, you can press and hold the cam - era key to mute the ringtone of an in coming call. Y ou can also press and hold the volume keys to reject the call. Y ou can also set the auto an swer mo de to Immedi - ate answer , T ext message or Recorded voice .
Operations During a Video Call 11 3 Call S ervice • Conference call/Pr ivate call : T o switch to the con - ference call d uring a 3-p arty call or to talk with a party priv ately d uring a conference call.
Calls 12 Calls The recently dia led calls, received ca lls and missed calls are saved automatically . Select Calls in the main me nu and t hen press the left/right scroll key to select All calls , Missed , Received or Dial ed . Then select Opti ons for the following options.
13 4 T ext Input Y ou can use the keypad to enter alphanumeric char - acters and symbols. For example, you can add entries to the co ntact s, write messages or schedule event s on the calendar . Note While entering text: • Press to switch between input methods.

15 5 Cont act s Conta ct s enables you to save and manage such information as pho ne numbers and addre sses of your contact s. Y ou can save such informati on in your phone or your SIM card. Making Calls from the Cont act s Y ou can make a voice/video call with a contact selected from th e cont acts list.
Group s 16 • Memory st atus : T o view the memory stat us of both your phone and SIM card. Group s Adding/De letin g Group Members 1 In the Contact s screen, press the lef t/right scr oll key to select Groups . 2 Select a group and press OK ke y to view the details.
17 6 Messaging , Email Messages The maximum content for a single text me ssage is 160 charact ers. If the ch aracters you enter exce ed this limit, the text is divid ed into two or more continu - ous messages when it is sent. Creating a Message With this option, you can create new SMS, MMS.
Messages 18 2 Press the up/down scroll key to vi ew the mes - sages and then press OK key to view the det ails. 3 Y ou can select Options for the following opera - tions. • Play : T o play the multimedia message . • Repl y : T o reply the message.
Email 19 Messaging, Email 6 ◆ Outbox Outbox is used to save the messages that failed to be sent. Icons in Outbox : A message t hat fai ls to be sent. Viewing and Editing Messages in the Outbox 1 Select Messaging > Outbox . 2 Press the up/down scroll key to se lect a mes - sage and press OK key to edit it.
Email 20 ◆ Inbox All Emails received are saved in the Inbox. Icons in Inbox : A r ead emai l. : An un read email. Viewing and Editing Emails in Inbox 1 Select an email and press OK key to view the content. 2 In the Details screen, select Opti ons for the fol - lowing operati ons: • Vie w : T o view the cont ent.
Broadcast Inbox 21 Messaging, Email 6 Viewing and Editing Em ails in Outbo x 1 Select an email and press OK key to access the editing screen. 2 Edit the related in formation. For det ails, perform the same operati ons as in creating an email. ◆ Blocked The blocked emails are saved in th is folder .
22 7 Music Music enables you to ma nage your music fi les easily and convenien tly . Recently Play ed Select this option, yo u can play the recently played music file. Music Library Y ou can play various music files, inclu ding those su p - plied with the phone, recorde d by using the phone, downloaded from the Internet, and at tache d to email.
23 8 Organiser & To o l s This function provides you with various help ful tools. Y ou can select Organiser & T ools from the main menu. Alarm s Setting Alarm Clocks Enter alarm functi on , you can s elect one alar m from the list, and then pr ess OK key to set an alarm clo ck .
Synchron ise 24 Synchr onise Y ou can synchroni s e contact s with your personal phone book i n the V odafo ne network. Before u se the synchronise function, you may need to set a profile. 1 T o creat e a profile, select Options > New to cre - ate a profile.
Currency Converter 25 Organiser & T ools 8 length. Select CE to clear the numeric values you entered. Currency Converter Y ou can convert a value f rom one curr ency to another using your phon e. Press the up/down scr oll key to switch between th e setup items.
26 9 My Files Y ou can select My Files from the main menu. My Files enables you t o manage the Pictures, Ring - tones, Music, Vid eos, Themes , and Ot hers files con - veniently . Select Pictures , Ringtones , Music or Videos folder . Y ou can perform the following operations on files.
27 10 W eb, Applications, Mobile TV Web The built-in browser makes it easy to browse the V odafone live! portal . Y ou can access the V odafone live! by selecting We b from the main menu. Applications S elect Applications from t he mai n menu . Yo u c a n run applicatio ns, download more applicat ions and access the w eb func tion.
28 11 Entert ainment Games In the main menu, se lect Entert ainment > Games . V odafone of fers a great choice of games for your mobile phone. T o download one of these to the phone or memory card, select Download Games . Camera / Video Camera In the main menu, se lect Entert ainment > Camera to start the camera.

Note • Yo u r phone supports plug and play function. • T he PC assistant installation programme and USB drive r are embedded in the mobile phone .
