SECTION 1 GETTING ACQUAINTED 1 Section 1 – Getting Acquainted AJ 2600P Shown Operator View 1. Exit Guides – These guides help the media to exit the printer. 2. Print Head Assembly – The AstroJet 2600P is e quipped with six printheads arranged on two rails and can print an image up to 3” wide.
SECTION 1 GETTING ACQUAINTED 2 AstroJet 2600P Shown Rear View 1. Main Power Switch and Power Receptacle – The power cord is plugged in here and the switch turns the printe r ON and OFF. 2. Main Power Fuse – This fuse protects all of the electronic ci rcuits in the printer.

MEDIA THICKNESS – The knob on the right side of the control panel is used to adjust the height of the print heads to compensate for different media thickness. 2. ON LINE key – The indicator on this key light s when data is sent to the ASTROJET 2600P/2800P and they are ready to begin printing.

SECTION 2 INSTALLING THE PRINTER 6 Install the Inkjet Cartridges The AstroJet 2 600P/2800P can be configure d with up to six inkjet cartri dges. The cartri dges are i nstalled as follows: • Rem ove the in kjet cartridge from i ts packaging, taking care n ot to touch the copper contacts, the metal plate, or the gold printhead.
SECTION 2 INSTALLING THE PRINTER 7 4. Loosen the knobs on t he side guides. Adjust the side guides to wi thin 1/32-i nch of the m edia. Then tig hten the knobs. 5. Adjust the back guide so that the media is raised approximately 1/2- inch and rests on th e curve of the back guide.
SECTION 2 INSTALLING THE PRINTER 8 1. If you have, any applications running on your computer close th em and restart the computer before begin ning the driver installation. 2. Install the CD in the CD drive and click on START . Then click on RUN , then type the fo llowing; D :Setup.
SECTION 3 OPERATING THE ASTROJET 2600P/2800P 9 Section 3 – Operating the AstroJet 2600P/2800P Once the Printer Driver is installed on your computer, you ar e ready to start printing. This section is divided into three parts. T he first descri bes the funct ion of the printer cont rol panel.
SECTION 3 OPERATING THE ASTROJET 2600P 10 Purge – The purging function is useful to clear the prin thead no zzles when the machine has been sitting idle for a period. To activate t he purge, press the ENTER key and feed media. To stop the purge press, ENTER again.

SECTION 3 OPERATING THE ASTROJET 2600P/2800P 13 To use the Overlay feature, first creat e a layout in an application such as Microsoft Word. Place all of the fixed information and graphics on this layout. Open the layout and go to P rint in the F ile menu.
SECTION 3 OPERATING THE ASTROJET 2600P 14 Printing from Microsoft Word If you are not using a specific program desi gned for m ailing applications it is possible t o print your mail pieces using Microsoft Word. Th is section will cover how to layout a pi ece a nd to print from Microsoft Word.

SECTION 4 MAINTENANCE 17 Section 4 - Maintenance This section covers how to care for th e ink cartridges, clear paper jam s, re place the sheet separat ors, and perform routing maintenanc e on the printer.
SECTION 4 MAINTENANCE 18 Short-term Storage Leave the cartridge in the Printer for short periods of time, 1 day or less. The next tim e that the Pri nter is use d, the printhea d may have t o be clean.
SECTION 4 MAINTENANCE 19 2600P/2800P/2800P Printer. It can be accessed from the LCD panel on the Pri nter from the MENU key. If this does not s olve the probl em then pr oceed as foll ows: 1. Wipe the pri nthead with a wet cloth as described in " Cleaning the Printhead" above.
SECTION 4 MAINTENANCE 20 Replacing the Feed Rollers To replace the feed rollers on the AstroJet printer follow the steps below: 1. Before removi ng the feed roller access plate, unplug the power to the printer. 2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the three screws from the feed roller access plate.
SECTION 4 MAINTENANCE 21 Cleaning The ASTROJET 2600P/2800P WARNING THE PRINTER IS A PRECISION M ACHINE THAT SHOULD BE CLEANED REGULARLY TO INSURE MA NY YEARS OF SERVICE. BEFOR E PERFORMING ANY MAINTE NANCE, DI SCONNECT THE MACHI NE FROM ITS PO WER SOURCE ! The Printer m ust be cleaned r egularly of accumul ated paper dust and ink.
