Adjusting the Swivel The computer has a swivel wheel on the undersid e of the base that allows you to swivel the computer left or right for th e best viewing angle. Figure 1 -7 Adjusting Swivel Adjusting the Height, Tilt, and Slope To adjust the hei ght , slide the display head up (1) or down.

Connecting Power 1. Squeeze the two ta bs on the rear port access do or at the back of the computer (1) and pu ll the door open (2). Figure 2-1 Opening the Rear Port Access Door 2. Reach into the re ar cavity framed by the comput er stand and plu g the power cord in to the power connection at the top right corner (1).
5. Close the rear port access door. Figure 2-3 Closing the Re ar Port Access Door Disconnecting Power 1. Remove all removable m edia, such as compact discs o r USB flash drives, from the computer. 2. Turn off the compu ter properly through the o perating system, then turn off any external devices.
Installing the Rear Port Security Cover 1. Ensure that all cables a re connected and the rear port access door is closed. 2. Tilt the display he ad to its most forward position and slide it down to its lowest position so that the stand does not co ver an y of the center cavity.
3. Loosen the captive screw (1) an d slide the secu rity cover out of the center ca vity (2). Figure 2-6 Removing the Rear Port Security Cover Installing Memory The computer comes with double data rate 3 syn chrono us dynamic random access memory (DDR3- SDRAM) small outline dual in line memory modu les (SODIMMs).
Populating SODIMM Sockets The memory sockets on the system board can be populated with up to four industry-s tandard SODIMMs. These memory socke ts are populated with at least one prein stalled SODIMM. To achi eve the maximum memory support, you can populate the system board with up t o 16 GB of memory.
The system will automatically operate i n single channel mode, dual channel mode, or fle x mode, depending on how the SODIMMs are installed. ● The system will operate in singl e channel mode if the SODIMM sockets are populated in one channel on ly.
9. Remove the small center panel be low the rear ports by pulling out the top of the panel (1) then lifting the panel off the computer (2). Figure 2-8 Removing the Center Panel 10. Before removing the memory access pa nel, you must remove the small cover plate that hides the screw used to secure the pan el to the chassis.
11. Remove the screw beneath the cover p late (1) and slid e the memory access panel toward the center of the computer until it stops (approxima tely 5 mm or 1 /5 inch) (2). Use the rai sed grip areas on the top and bottom inside corners of the access panel to slide the panel toward the center of the compute r.
13. To remove a SODIMM, p ress outward on the two la tches on each side of th e SODIMM (1) then pull the SODIMM out of the socket (2). Figure 2-12 Removing a Mem ory Module 14. To install a SODIMM, slide th e new SODIMM into the so cket at approximate ly a 30° angle (1) then press the SODIMM down (2) so that the latches lock it in place.
15. To replace the memory a ccess panel, hold the pan el at a slight angl e with the inside edge o f the panel lower than the outside edge, then slide the screw hole tab on the top inside corne r of the panel into the slot on t he rear of the computer.

Replacing the Hard Drive The hard drive is loca ted under t he drive acce ss panel on the l eft side of the comput er (when viewed from behind). The drive is secured with one ca ptive screw an d is housed in a remova ble cage. CAUTION: Static electricity can damage the electr o nic componen ts of the co mputer.
10. Before removing the drive access pane l, you must remove the small cover plate that hid es the screw used to secure th e panel to the chassis. Lift up on the bottom of the cover plate located next to the uppe r inside corner of the access p anel and lift the cover pl ate off the rear of the computer.
12. Lift up the outside edge of the panel approximately 2.5 cm (1 inch) (1) and slide th e panel toward the outside e dge of the computer (2) to remove it. Figure 2-21 Removing the Drive Access Panel 13. Loosen the captive screw on the side of the ha rd drive cage tha t secures the cag e to the computer.
14. Grasp the ha ndle on top of th e hard drive cage and slide the cag e toward the out er edge of the computer, then lift the cage out of the computer.
16. Slide the ne w hard drive int o t he hard drive cage (1) making su re that the connectors on th e hard drive are on the same end of th e cage as the ha ndle, and the n install the fou r screws that secure the dr ive to the cage (2 ). Figure 2-25 Installing the Hard Drive in the Cage 17.
18. Tighten the captive screw to secure the hard drive cage in place. Figure 2-27 Tigh tening the Hard Drive Cage Screw 19. To replace the drive access pa nel, hold the panel at a slight angle wi th t.
20. Lower the outside edge of the panel onto the co mputer then slid e the panel towards the outsid e of the computer (1) an d install the screw (2) to secure the panel in p lace.
22. Replace the small center p anel below the rear ports by inserting the bottom of th e panel into position first (1) then rotating the top of the panel onto the computer so that it snaps in place (2). On position (the keyboard does not have a Power switch). Then, turn on the computer. If you have trouble using the keyboa rd and mouse, manu ally synchronize them as d escribed below. NOTE: For better mouse batte ry life and performance, avoi d using your mouse on a dark or high- gloss surfac e, and turn mouse power off wh en not in use.
7. Press the Conn ect button on the bottom of the keyboard (3 ) for five seconds . The blue act ivity LED from the wireless receiver illuminates when the synchro nization command has been received and turn s off when synchronization is complete. To use the remote control with a set-top box: 1. To use the remote con trol so that the signa l is received by the computer, connect an IR emitter (blaster) cable to the IR Ou t connector on the compu.
4. When you use the remote control, poi nt it at th e front of the computer, not at the set-top box. Figure 2-36 Usin g the Remote Control Connecting a Second Display The DisplayPort on the rear of the computer a llows you to connect a second display, such as a monitor or TV, to the computer.
3. If your second display has a DisplayPort, co nnect a Display Port cable di rectly between th e DisplayPort on the rear o f the computer (1) and the DisplayPort on the second disp lay (2).
