Intr oduction The HP Pavilion V50 Display is a high-resolution, multiscan color monitor designed for use with HP Pavilion and other computers. The display complies with EP A ENERGY ST AR ® standards and includes automatic power-management features.
F or Y our Safety For your safety and the pr otection of your display, follow these precautions: ♦ Always connect the display to a grounded, three-pr ong power outlet. Use only the factory-supplied power cord. W arning: T o completely disconnect power from the display, you must remove the power cable from the power socket.
If any of the following conditions occur, unplug the display and contact a qualified service technician: ♦ The power cord or plug is fr ayed or damaged. ♦ Y ou have spilled liquid into the display. ♦ The display has been exposed to r ain or water.

Installation Follow the instructions in this chapter to install your HP Pavilion V50 Display. Unpacking the Display When you unpack the display, mak e sure that you have the following items: ♦ The d.
Installing the Base Pedestal 1 T urn the monitor upside down on a sturdy surface. (Don't place it screen-side down; the glass can be scr atched.) 2 Position the base pedestal with the latch facing the back of the monitor. 3 Insert the seven tabs on the base pedestal into the seven slots found on the bottom of the monitor.
4 Connect the video cable on the monitor to the 15-pin video graphics conn ector on the rear panel of the computer, a nd tighten the fastening screws. (If you have an HP Pavilion computer, this port is mark ed in or ange. F or other computers, check your computer manual for the video port location.
Connecting the Speak ers The display is designed for use with speak ers supplied with HP Pavilion computers. T o connect the speak ers: 1 Identify the left and right speak ers. Y ou can tell which side a speak er fits onto by its mounting pegs. The side of the speak er with mounting pegs fits against the side of the display.
Changing Display Settings Y our Pavilion V50 Display is capable of displaying sever al different r esolution settings and may be adjusted for different ambient lighting conditions (compatible resolutions ar e shown in the T echnical Specifications sect ion of this manual).
