User Documen tation On the ma in screen of the prin ting-system s oftware CD B rowser, cli ck View U ser Guide to open the View U ser Guide sc reen. Move the cu rsor over each opti on to see a descr iption o f the o ption in the right pan el.
Click Browse User Guide to gain acces s to the product user guide. ● If the produc t software is installe d by a direct USB connection and not from the CD, the user guide is not ins talled loc ally on you r computer a s part of the i nstallati on. Click the Open th e latest ve rsion on the web li nk to down load and view the user gu ide from www.

Ligh t stat us Stat e of th e produc t Acti on Status lights cycle The status lights cycle during the formatter initialization period or when the product is processing a cleaning page. No action is required. Wait for the initialization period to end. The product enters the ready state when the initialization period is finished.
Ligh t sta tus State of the prod uct Action Attention light is blinking, and ready lig ht is on . The product has e xperienced a co ntinual error from which it can recover on its own. If the recover y is succe ssful, the produc t continues to the processing data state and completes the job.

Follow thes e instruct ions to selec t the correct c onnection option: 1. On the Start menu, click th e Settings option, and then perform one of t he followi ng: Windows XP Home : Click the Printe rs and Oth er Ha rdwa re De vice s option. Windows XP Profession al, Windows S erver 2003, and Windows 20 08 : Cli ck the Pri nters and Faxes option.
Use an existi ng port for a direct connection Use these instructio ns when the product is connected to the comput er using a USB cable or when printi ng via the network witho ut using a print server.
2. (Optiona l) Clic k the Windows Update button to displ ay a list of drivers that can be downl oaded from the Micr osoft Windo ws Update Web sit e. If the appropr iate model of HP LaserJet Profe ssional P1100 /P1560/P1 600 Series Printer is alr eady listed, s elect it and cli ck the Next > button.
6. Select the app ropriate model of HP LaserJe t Profes sional P 1100/P156 0/P160 0 Series P rinter from the list and cli ck the Next > button to c ontinue to the Name Your Printer sc reen.
7. You can ei ther type a name for the pr oduct in th e Printe r name text box or use the default n ame provide d. Select the Yes option to use th is prin ter as the default printer or s elect th e No option to keep the existing product as the defaul t printer.
8. Select e ither the Do not s hare this printer option, or se lect the Share nam e: option and t ype share n ame, an d then cl ick the Next > butto n to continue to the Print T est Page scre en. Figure 3-8 Add P rinter Wizard — Pr inter S haring screen 9.
Create a new TCP/IP port for a direct connection Perfor m the foll owing when the produ ct is con nected vi a the networ k without usin g a print se rver and a printer port do es not ex ist: 1. If the printe r port doe s not appear in the Use the f ollowing port dr op-down lis t, select th e Create a new port option.

3. Type th e product' s IP a ddress or host n ame in th e Printer Name or IP Address text box, and then click t he Next button. NOTE: The default port name is th e name th at you typed in the P rinter Name or IP Address text box. Y ou can c hange this name by typing a new nam e in the Port Name tex t b ox.

2. Select eith er the Find a printer in the director y option, the Connect to this printer (or t o browse for a printer, selec t this option and click Ne xt) option, or the Connect to a printer on the Internet or on a home or office network option, and then click th e Next > bu tton.
Select one of t he following optio ns: a. ( Find a p rint er i n th e d ire ctor y option only) Specify s earch attr ibutes to fin d your pr oduct on the networ k, and then c lick the Find Now button to searc h the sp ecified location for yo ur produc t.
b. ( Connect to this printer (o r to browse for a pr inter, sel ect this option and click Nex t) option only) Specify the print p ath for t he product a nd then c lick the N ext > button. The co mputer wi ll search the network for share d products.

c. If the installe r cannot locate a wireless router/acces s point on the wire less network that the product is capa ble of ac cessin g, the following message appears . Click the OK button to proceed . The insta llation mode autom atically change s to the A dvanced mode.

S elect a r outer/ac cess po int ( Network Nam e (SSID) )fr om the list, or sel ect Enter your Network N ame (S SID) manually to manuall y enter the SSID, and then click the Next button.
5. If the ins taller d oes not a utomatica lly find one or more wirel ess route r/access points on yo ur wireless network, the following s creen ap pears for man ually ent ering t he SSID of the router/acc ess point to co nnect to. Ente r the SSID in the SS ID: f ield, and then click th e Next b utton.
