2 S ystem Requirement Windows The f ollowing tab le lists the m inimum and recomm ended system setup to r un the RIP Software. System requirem ents var y accordin g to the s ize of the files to be scan ned and printed, t he output d evice use d, and other var iables.
3 Macintosh I nstallation This section des cribes the kind of s ystem s etup you need to run the RI P Sof tware and how to ins tall the RI P soft ware. W hen you are re ady to be gin using t he RIP Software, follo w the steps in ap propriate s ection , this will enabl e you to install t he RIP Soft ware properl y.
4 5. Locate and open the ‘Extens ions’ fold er. Drag the spooler file into t he Tras h. The Spoo ler file is nam ed accordin g to your printer, and app ears as ‘Am_<pr i nter na m e>’, depend ing on which pr in ter you insta ll ed.
5 5. Select P PD’s. PPD ’s can be f ound on your HP DesignJ et 500PS instal lation CD. 6. Click Next . The Se lect Port Windo w displa ys. 7. Select your Port. The Get Shared Inf orm ation windo w displa ys. 8. Select Not Shared if sof tware is save on your local dr ive.

11 To sele ct the USB Po rt 1. Open the H P DesignJe t 500PS s oftware. 2. From the S etup m enu, select Setup Pr operties. 3. Select th e General tab.

13 Ab o rt Although a job can not be paus ed durin g the RIP pr ocess, th e job ca n be aborted. After abor ting a job, all RI P’ed inf orm ation is lost a nd the process m ust start again. To Abor t a Print J ob 1. Click on the job you would lik e to abor t.
14 Setup Menu A setup c onsists of a devic e and it ’s assoc iated proper ties. It ems in the S etup m enu apply to t he select ed setup. S elect a s etup b y clicking on the setup icon in the setup area of the m ain window.
15 To Add a J ob 1. From the F ile m enu select Ad d J ob . 2. Select th e job you would lik e to add th en click on Open . 3. To send a j ob to the pr inter, se lect the j ob from the Print M onitor’s que ue and the n choose Pr int from the File m enu.
16 Most appl ications have Page setup an d Print Comm and options within the F ile Me nu. Make s ure you sel ect the cor rect prin ter setup th at you ha ve insta lled. P lease consul t your DTP a pplicat ion f or m ore details on t he print c omm and.
17 Setup Properties The Setu p Propert ies windo w can be ac cessed f rom within the RIP Sof tware Ser ver and are settings used to process j obs that do not have properties of their o wn assoc iated with them. Setup Proper ties conta in the def aults of the RI P soft ware and pr inter proper ty settings .
18 Setup Name The s etup name disp la ys the name of your print er. Med ia Name Displa ys the nam e of the m edia type. W idth/Height Accepts dir ect entr y of the j ob’s widt h or height. W hen one aspect is altered the other is automatic ally update d to k eep the job pr oportiona lly correc t.
19 Note - To enab le ECP m ode you m ay need to tur n off the “Use standar d LPT driver c heckbox in the com munic ations tab of the Setu p Propert ies inside of applicat ion.

33 Quark XPres s 4.04 1. In order to print suc cessf ully to Q uarkX Press, y ou will need a special X Tension . The name of the XT ension is ‘Pr intRGB’. T his file is ava ilable o n your Ins tallation CD, in the Quar k Files folder . I nstall th e file to t he ‘Quar k X Press:XT ensions’ f older, b efore starting Q uark XPress .
