3.1 Hard Clip Area 25 3 Materials Related to HP-GL Mode 3.1 Hard Clip Area In the HP-GL mode, the plotta ble area is determined (separate ly from the printable area) depending on the paper size . This area is called a hard clip area. It de termines the maximum range of pen move ment.
26 3 Materials Rel ated to HP-GL Mod e 3.2 Print able Area Printable area s in the HP-GL mode are as follows: Note • Some output sizes may not be used dep ending on the printer type. Output Sizes and Printable Areas Output size Paper leng th (1/7200 in.
3.2 Printabl e Area 27 Output size Paper leng th (1/7200 in.) Coordinate value (1/7200 in.) X- direction Y- direction Margin Printa ble area T op right Margin Wid th Height Bottom left X Bottom left Y.
28 3 Materials Rel ated to HP-GL Mod e 3.3 Auto Layout This section explains auto layout. What Is Auto Layout? Auto layout is the function that judges the document size according to the HP- GL data input from the host system, enlarges/reduces the document so that it fits the paper size, and lays out the document a t the center of the paper.
3.3 Auto Layout 29 Area Determine Methods for obtaining th e effective coordinate area based on the HP-GL data are as follows: [Auto] An effective coordinate area determining method is automa tically selected among PS, IW, IP, Adapted. PS, IW, IP, Adapted are given priority in this order.
30 3 Materials Rel ated to HP-GL Mod e Zoom Mode Select the mode that determines the document size according to the obtained effe ctive coordinate area. Also determ ine whether th e paper is set in landsc ape or portra it according to the effective coordinate area.
3.3 Auto Layout 31 Example: Assume that the following data is input when Zoom Mode = Output Size, Origin Position = Auto, Paper Margin = 10 mm, Area Determine = IP . All pen widths are set to 0.1 mm. The following data does not con tain a character size specificatio n command and the physical size of the area specified by IP/IW is A3.
32 3 Materials Rel ated to HP-GL Mod e When [Output Size] Is Set to [Auto] The size (A4, B5, or A5) of the paper se t in the tray actually becomes the candidate value.
3.3 Auto Layout 33 Determining the Scaling Factor During execution of auto scalin g, the scaling factor is determined by the document size an d output size. Note that the scaling factor de pends on the [Zoom Mode] setting. Note • T o enable the scaling function, set [Zoom] to [On] on the control p anel.
34 3 Materials Rel ated to HP-GL Mod e When [Document Size] Is Set to [Auto] and [Zoom Mode] Is Set to [Coordinate Area] The [Hard Clip] setting becomes ineffective. The ex tended hard clip area is always used. The scaling factor is determined by the effective coor dinate area and output size.
3.3 Auto Layout 35 Examples of Combinations of Functions This section explains examples of print results ob tained by combining the supported functions. Document Size: Auto, Coord. Rotation: 0, Zoom Mode: Output Size, Zoom: On Document Size: Auto, Coord.
