If you a re pregna nt , t he be st wa y t o prot e ct your self and y our unbor n child w hen dr iv ing or r iding in a vehi cl e is to al ways wear a seat b el t, and keep the lap p art of the belt as low a s pos sible a cr oss t he hips.
Carryin g hard o r s harp object s on your lap, or driv ing w it h a pipe o r other sharp object in your mout h, ca n re sult in injur ies if your f r ont air bag inf lat e s.

T he d rive r’s advanc ed f ront ai rb ag system includes a seat position sensor unde r t he se at . If the seat is too f ar f orward, the ai rbag will inf lat e wit h less f orce, regardless of the severity of t he im pact. Y our f r ont air bags a r e a lso adv a nced airb ags .
W hen t he air bag is tur ned of f , an indi cat or in the cent er of t he dashboa rd w ill come on indica t ing passenge r a irba g ‘‘OF F ’’ ( se e page ). Moving t he f ront sea t f or cibly bac k ag ain st c argo on t he seat or f loor behind it .

Improper ly r epla cing or covering f ront sea t-ba ck covers can pr ev ent your side air ba gs f r om inf la t ing dur ing a s ide impa ct . If w at e r or anot he r liquid so aks into a s eat-bac k, it can prevent t he sid e airbag cu tof f syst em f rom w or king pr oper ly.
− − − Child ren dep end o n adul ts t o protect them. However, desp ite t heir best int ent ions, ma ny a dult s do not k now how t o prote ct child passengers. If you have child ren, o r ever need to driv e w it h a child in y our v ehic le, be sure t o r ea d t his se ct ion.

− Many parents say they pref er t o pu t an inf ant or a s mall c hild in t he f r ont passenge r se at so t hey can w at c h t he child, or beca use t he child r equir es at t e nt ion.
− If t hey do, they could be v er y s er iously inj ured in a crash. Even very youn g chi ld ren l earn h ow to unl ock ve hicle door s, t u rn on t he ignit ion swit ch, and open t he t runk , w hich can lead to accidental injury o r deat h.
W hen pr oper ly inst alle d, a rea r - f acing child seat may prev ent t he driv er or a f r ont passenge r f rom mo vin g thei r s eat as f ar bac k as recomm ended , or f rom lo ckin g their seat-b ack in the d esi red po si tion .
A child who is at least 1 yea r old, and who f it s w it hin t he c hild sea t ma ker ’s weight a nd he ight limits , should be restrained in a f orward- f acin g, upright child sea t . Of t he di f f eren t seats availab le , we rec ommend t hose t ha t hav e a f ive- poi nt harness system as sh own.
In sea t ing posit ions a nd ve hicles not equipped w it h L A T CH, a L A T CH - compat ible child s ea t ca n be ins t alle d using a sea t belt . What ever t ype of seat you choo se, to prov ide pr oper prot ec t ion, a child seat should meet t hre e requir ement s: L ook f or F MV SS 213 or CMVSS 213 on t he bo x.
A child seat secur ed wit h a seat belt should be ins t alle d a s f irmly a s possi ble. However, it does n ot need t o be ‘‘ roc k solid.’ ’ Some s ide-t o- side moveme nt ca n be ex pect e d and should not reduc e t he c hild sea t ’s ef f ect iveness.
Y our ve hicle is equipped w it h L A T CH ( low er anchor s and t et her s f or chi ld ren) at t he o u ter rear seats. T o inst a ll a L A T CH -compa t ible c hild seat : Place t he ch ild sea t on t he vehic le se at, the n atta ch the sea t to the lo wer anc ho rs acc ord in g to the child sea t make r’s inst r uct ions.

When not using the L A T CH syst em, all chi ld seats must be secured to the ve hicle w it h t he lap pa rt of a la p/ shoulder belt . Wi th the ch i l d se at in the d es i re d sea t ing posit ion, rout e t he belt t hrough t h e child s ea t acc ording to the seat maker’s instructions , th en in s e rt the l atc h p l ate i n to th e buckle.
A f t er conf ir ming t ha t t he belt is locke d, gra b t he shoulder par t of the belt near the buckle, and pu ll up to re mo ve an y slack f rom the lap pa rt of t he belt . R e membe r, if th e la p p ar t o f th e be l t is n o t tig h t, t he c hild sea t will not be secur e.
A f t er proper ly s ecur ing t he c hild seat ( se e page ), lif t t he hea d re s trai nt, then ro u te the teth er strap over the s eat-bac k an d t hrough t he head r est r a int legs. Push t he lev er unde r t he st e ering column all the wa y down. Move the steering wheel u p o r d o w na n di no r o u t t ot h e d e s i r e d position. Make sure you can see t he inst r ument panel ga uges and th e in di c ato rs . P us h the l ev er u p to l o c k the st ee ring w hee l in t ha t posit ion.
Y o us h o u l dh a v er e c e i v e dak e y number t a g w it h your se t of keys . Y ou w ill nee d t his k ey number if you ever have t o get a key replaced. Use only Honda -a ppr ove d key blank s. T hese keys contain electroni c ci rcui ts that are activated by the immobilizer syst e m.
If t he syst em repeatedly does not rec ognize t h e coding of your key, contact your dealer. Do no t atte m p t to al ter thi s s ys te m o r ad d o the r d ev i ce s to it. E l ec tri cal problems could re sult t hat ma y ma ke your v ehic le undr iva ble.
− − − − T he ignit ion s wit c h has f our posit ions: L OCK (0 ), A CCESSO R Y (I), O N ( II), and ST A R T ( III). Yo u c a n i n s er t o r remov e t he k ey only in t his pos it ion. To turn the key , th e sh i f t l eve r mu s t be in Pa rk, a nd you must push t he key in slight ly.
Each door has a lock t ab next to t he inside door handle. Pull t he t a b out t o lock th e door , a nd push it in t o unlock t he door. T he lock t a b on ea ch door locks and unlocks t hat door . Pulling out on t he driv er ’s door lock ta b loc ks a ll door s.
T he childpr oof door lock s a re designed t o pr ev ent childr en se at e d in t he r ea r f rom acc ident a lly opening t he r ea r door s. E ac h re ar door ha s a lock le ve r ne ar t he edge . W it h t he lev er in the L OCK posit ion, t he door cannot be opened f rom t he inside rega r dless of t he pos it ion of t he lock t ab.
