Do not use poor quality or dam aged tapes. PRECAUTIO NS • Avoid m oisture, which can condense on the tape if it is m oved from a cold place to a warm place.
VIDEO CASSET TE 13 ERASE PREVENTIO N You can prevent accidental erasing of recording by breaking off the tab on the back edge of the cassette. If y ou decide to record on the tape again, cover the hole with plastic tape.

PREPARATION F OR USE 17 SETTING A VIDEO CHANNEL If your TV does not have A/V terminals; When the VCR is in the Play back mode or when the VCR/TV button on the remote control is in the VCR position, y our TV will receive the signals from the VCR on either channel 3 or 4.
PREPARATION F OR USE 18 CONNECTING TO INPUT JACKS When you copy a video tape, or watch a prog ram recorded on an another source, use audio/video input jacks.
PRESET FO R USE 19 PRESET FOR USE Channel memory programming is NOT needed when connected to a cable box. You can program the tuner to scan only the channels y ou receive in your area. See page 32 for channel designations. NOTE: You must use the remote control for this procedure.

PRESET FO R USE 21 TO DELETE PRESET CHANNEL The channels y ou no longer receive or seldom watch can be delet ed from the memory. (Of course, y ou can add the deleted channel into the memory again.) NOTE: You must use the remote control for this procedure.

PLAYBACK 29 P L A Y B A C K NORMAL PLAYBACK Make sure... • Turn on the TV and set the TV channel to the same video output channel as located on the back of the VCR. (CH 3 or 4) • Press VCR/TV button on the remote control so that "VCR" appears on the display .
PLAYBACK 30 VERTICAL HOLD CONTROL When the picture begins to vibrate vertically , stabilize the picture by pressing CHANNEL (or CH) or button in the Still mode. NOTES: • When the picture is distorted or rolling ve rtically , adjust the ver tical hold control on y our TV.
PLAYBACK 31 When the end of a tape is reached during recording, play back, or fast-forward, the tape will automatically r ewind to the beginning . After that, the VCR will e ject the tape and turn itself to off. NOTES: • The tape will not auto- rewind during time r recording or I nstant Recording Timer.

SPECIAL PLAY BACK 33 NOTES: • Once y ou select the repeat play mode, it st ay s in effect even after you turn off the VCR. • When the Counter Memory is activated, the tape will rewind to 0:00:00 and the VCR will be in the Stop mode. • I f the Rental mode is set [ON], the "RENTAL PL AY " display has priority .
SPECIAL PLAY BACK 34 4 Select "RENTAL " to [ON] Press SEL ECT button so that "RENTAL ON" will appear on the TV screen. NOTES: • Once y ou select the rental play mode, it stay s in effect even after you turn off the VCR. • Selecting ON or OFF must be done in the play mode only .
SEARCH 35 SEARCH Make sure... • VCR power must be turned on. • Turn on the TV and set the TV channel to the same video output channel as located on the back of the VCR. (CH 3 or 4) • Press VCR/TV button on the remote control so that "VCR" appears on the display .
SEARCH 36 TO EXIT THE COUNTER MEMORY When the counter appears on the TV screen, press COUNTER MEMORY button once and then the SELECT button twice so that the " M" and the counter disappears from the TV screen.
SEARCH 37 6 After Time Se arch When 0:00 is reached, the VCR will start play back automatically . NOTES: • Time Search can be set up to 9 hours 59 minutes (9:59). • This function will not operate in recording mode. • Procedures must be followed within 30 seconds, from steps [3] to [ 4].
SEARCH 38 4 Enter y our desired number Press CH or button r epeatedly until the number of programs that y ou wa nt to skip appears. (Example: "03" for 3 programs) 5 Begin I ndex Search Press REW or F.FWD button. The VCR begins rewinding or fast forwarding to the beginning of desired program.
SEARCH 39 Press CH or button repeatedly to point to " SEARCH SELECT" . Then, press SELE CT button. 3 Select "BL ANK SEARCH" Press CH or button repeatedly to point to " BL ANK SEARCH". Then, press SELE CT button. • The VCR begins fast forwarding to the beg inning of the blank part of the tape.
RECORDING 40 R E C O R D I N G Make sure... • VCR power must be turned on. • Turn on the TV and set the TV channel to the same video output channel as located on the back of the VCR. (CH 3 or 4) • Press VCR/TV button on the remote control so that "VCR" appears on the display .
RECORDING 41 4 Stop recording Press STOP button when re cording is comple ted. SKIPPING SOME MATERI ALS DURING RECORDING Press PAUSE button to temporarily stop recording. Press PAUSE or REC button to resume recording. NOTE: To prev ent tape damag e, after f ive minutes, the VCR will automatica lly switch to the Stop mode.
RECORDING 42 RECORDING ONE PROGRAM WHILE VI EWING ANOTHER You can record one program while viewing another. To start recording , follow steps [1] to [ 3] under "VI EWING AND RECORDI NG THE SAME PROGRAM". NOTE: When y ou record with a cable converter box, you cannot record one prog ram while viewing another.
RECORDING 43 Make sure... • VCR Power must be turned on. • Turn on the TV and set the TV channel to the same video output channel as located on the back of the VCR. (CH3 or 4) • Press VCR/TV button on the remote control so that "VCR" appears on the display .
TIMER RECORDING 44 TIMER RECORDING AUTOMATIC TIMER RECORDING You may set the VCR to start and end a recording while y ou are away . You can set seven programs to record on specific day s, daily or weekly within a 1 y ear period.

TIMER RECORDING 46 For weekly recording: To record a T V program at the same time on the same channel every week. (Example: every Monday on channel 7 at 5:00PM) Press CH or button repeatedly to point to " WEEKLY". Then, press SEL ECT button.

TIMER RECORDING 48 Press STOP/EJECT button on the VCR. NOTE: STOP button on the re mote control will not function in the Automatic Timer Reco rding mode. TO CANCEL OR CHECK THE START/END TIME 1) Repeat steps [1] to [ 2] previous page. 2) Select a program number y ou want to check using CH or button.

TIMER RECORDING 50 Notes: • Set the tape remainder switch ("~T60", " ~T130" or "T140~") to the tape loaded. See " Setting the Remaining Time" on next page. • Even if SLP mode is selected, just-in time recording cannot compensate for a tape length which may be too short.
