Getting Started (Hook ups) 12 I f y our TV is a fairly recent model, you probably have both audio and video jacks. Look at the back of y our TV for two jacks - possibly color-coded y ellow and white. They will be labeled AUDI O IN, or Video I N. (If y ou are not sure, look at the back of your VCR - y ou will see two sets of these jacks.
Getting Started (Hook ups) 13 This is an easy hookup that y ou can use if y our cable or antenna has a 75 ohm round wire connector. You will need the 75 ohm cable supplied with y our VCR. I t looks like this: (Refer to page 11 for 300 ohm UHF connection to TV and antenna.
Getting Started (Hook ups) 14 1. Remove the antenna line from the back of y our TV if it is already connected there, or take it from where it comes in on the wall. 2. Considering the three pictures below, determine which adapter y ou will need to hook into your VCR.

Using the 75 ohm cable supplied with y our VCR, connect either end to the OUT TO TV upper jack on the back of the VCR .

This VCR uses VHS tapes only , which are the most common ty pe. Look for the VHS mark on new or prerecorded tapes y ou buy .
Getting Started (Videotapes ) 27 Loading and Ejecting When y ou load a videocassette into the VCR, there is only one right way ! Most tapes show y ou the way with a little arrow on the top side which should go in first. Push the videocasse tte gently into the slot on the front of the VCR.
Basic Oper ations 28 Basic Operations Practice starting and stopping a video you've rented - play it through, see how it automatically rewinds. Get a blank tape and try recording a TV show. Then you'll know how to use the VCR when you need to - or where in the manual to find the instructions you forgot.
