5 HO W T O SET UP Y OUR NEW HIT A CHI PR OJECTION TV CA UTION: Magnetic fields, such as those of e xternal speakers, ma y cause the picture to distor t if the y are placed too close to the tele vision. Move the magnetic field source a way from the tele vision until there is no picture distor tion.
6 HOOK-UP CABLES AND CONNECT ORS Most video/audio connections between components can be made with shielded video and audio cab les that hav e phono connectors. F or best performance, video cab les should use 75-Ohm coaxial shielded wire. Cables can be purchased from most stores that sell audio/video products.
7 FR ONT P ANEL CONTR OLS NO TES: 1. Y our HIT ACHI Projection TV will appear to be tur ned OFF if there is no video input when VIDEO: 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 is selected.

15 CONNECTING EXTERNAL VIDEO SOURCES The e xact arrangement you use to connect the VCR, camcorder , laserdisc player , D VD play er, or HDTV Set T op Box to y our TV set is dependent on the model and f eatures of each component. Check the o wner’s man ual of each component f or the location of video and audio inputs and outputs.

Connect the cable from the VIDEO OUT of the VCR or the laserdisc pla yer to the INPUT (VIDEO) jac k, as shown on the TV set below . 2. 19 THE REMO TE CONTROL In addition to controlling all the functions on your HIT A CHI Projection TV , the new remote control is designed to operate diff e rent types of VCRs, CBL (Cable TV) conv er ters, satellite receiv er , D VD play ers, and other audio/video equipment with one touch.

23 PICTURE-IN-PICTURE (PIP) NO TES: 1. When using Y -P B P R input, only 480i signal can be vie wed as a sub-picture. 2. When ANT B is selected as the main channel, the SW AP f eature is disabled.
24 PICTURE-IN-PICTURE (PIP) NO TES: 1. If no buttons are pressed when in SURF mode, auto-scanning will continuously scan channels in memory . (see pages 35 and 36) 2. If a channel is tuned during this SURF scanning, sub-pictures will be removed from the screen.

SET UP SETUP 32 Select SETUP when setting your TV up for the first time. Use the CURSOR or on the remote to highlight the function desired. SET UP SETUP 33 This graphic guide function will help y ou to proper ly set up your TV or Home Theater System.
