16 ZONE II REMO TE CONTROL FUNCTIONS Zone II.2 Remote Control Functions I Digital Media Player (DMP) Selector: When Harman Kardon’ s (optional) is connected to Digital Media Player (DMP) Connector 8 and a compatible Apple ® iP od ® is docked in , pressing this selector will select the iP od as the audio source input device for the A VR 347.

Audio Equipment Connections T here are two formats for audio connections: digital and analog.

Connect the digital output of any digital sources such as a CD or DVD changer or player , advanced video game , a digital satellite receiver , HDTV tuner or digital cable set-top box or the output of a compatible computer sound card to the Optical and Coaxial Digital Inputs NR *Ó .
INST ALLATION AND CONNECTIONS 19 ENGLISH Installation and Connections 1. Connect a VCR’ s audio and video Play/Out jacks to the Video 2 In jacks MT on the rear panel. The Audio and Video Record/In jacks on the VCR should be connected to the Video 1 Out jacks P7 on the A VR.

40 OPERA TION Operation 6-Channel/8-Channel Direct Input • T here are two input choices available for use with sources such as a DVD-Audio or SACD player that are connected to the 8-Channel Direct Inputs 9 .

42 OPERA TION Operation When the digital source is playing, the A VR will automatically detect whether it is a multichannel Dolby Digital or DTS source or a conventional PCM signal, which is the standard output from CD players . Note that a digital input (e .
OPERA TION 43 ENGLISH Operation When Dolby Digital 3/2/.1 or DTS 3/2/.1 signals are being played, the A VR will automatically switch to the proper surround mode , and no other processing may be selected. When a Dolby Digital signal with a 3/1/0 or 2/0/0 signal is detected you may select any of the Dolby sur- round modes .
44 OPERA TION Operation In most cases this will be 4 8 KHZ , though in the case of specially mastered, high-resolution audio discs you will see a 9 6 KHZ indication. T he PCM 4 8 KHZ indication will also appear when modes or inputs are changed for analog sources .
