15 1.2 Product Intr oductions 1.2.1 F eatures This LCD TV allows viewers to watch NTSC/P AL television channels, and easily connect a VCR, VCD, or DVD player to the st andard V ideo and S- Video input ports located at the rear of the unit. M oreover , yo u may connect your LCD TV to a PC, servin g as a monitor .

21 1.2.5 Inser ting the R emote Contr ol Ba tteries 1. Open the battery comp artment cover at the back of the remo te control (A). 2. For AAA batteries , insert the batteries paying attention to th e polarity markings in side the battery co mpartment (B).
22 CAUTION • If the remote control is not us ed for a long period, remov e the batteries and store them sep arately . • Handle damaged or leaking batteries carefully , and wash hands af ter such handling. • Refer to your local recycling or waste disposal rules and cont act a local waste disposal vendor to dispos e of used batteries.
23 2 2.1 Basic Connections The following sections prov ide user s with some basic ins tructions to use th e TV . Please read them c arefully before you start utilizing the functions. 2.1.1 Po wer Connection 1 Connect the power cord to the power adapter as illustrated.
24 2.1.2 A ntenna/Cable Connections 1 Connect one end of the VHF/UHF (Ant enna) or CA TV cable to the ANT jack (VHF/UHF IN jack) on the back of the TV .
25 2.2 Connecting Exter nal De vices 2.2.1 C onnecting to Ear phones Y ou m ay use earphones or external speak ers with built-in am plifier instead of built-in speakers to listen to the TV . Connect earphon es to the earphone jack as illustrated. Note: • Earphones are not included in th e packa ge.
26 2.2.2 C onnecting to an Amplifier/P owered Speak er Connect an external amplifier or powered speakers to the line out port to provide better sound quality . Refer to the above illustration. Note: Only one external d evice for s ound can be connected at a time.
27 2.2.3 C onnecting to A V De vices The above illustration show s you how to connect your TV to a video camera, VCR, VCD or DVD play er . Actual conn ections may vary according to the make and model of your device. Refer to the user's ma nual included with the A V device fo r more detaile d instructions.
28 2.2.4 Connecting to a PC The above illustrations demonstrate how to connect to a PC. For VGA jack, please refer to the firs t picture. For PC-IN jack, please refer to the second picture.
29 2.2.5 C onnecting to a Video Game Console The instructions presented he re are a genera l guide to connecting the TV to a game console using the RCA jacks (some game devices may require a unique adapter that is not pro vided.) Actual connectio ns may vary according to the make and model of the game de vice.
30 2.3 Basic Operations 2.3.1 Po wer on/off Press the POWER button on the remote control or control pa nel to turn on the TV . Press the POWER button again; the TV is in of f mode. 2.3.2 Switching Sour ce Signals Press the S OURCE button to se lect different souce signals .
31 2.3.6 U sing the R emote Control Aim the transmitter on the remote contro l at the remote IR sensor of the TV and ensure that there is no obst acle between them. The operational distance may be shor tened when the remo te IR sensor is directly exposed to strong light.
32 3 Menu Setting This Chapter guides you thro ugh adjusting the On-Scre en Display (OSD) menu system under TV an d PC mode. Y ou may adjust the setting from you r remote control or the bu ttons located on the TV's fron t control pane l.
33 OSD Function Menu Before going to det ails of each OSD item, you may get a cquainted with the placement of the OSD system: The following menus can be set by dif ferent adjustment m ethods. Adjustment methods are de scribed af ter function description of each setting's menu.
34 3.1 TV mode 3.1.1 Pictur e Setting Function Description: Video mod e The Vi deo mode enables you to custo mize the video display . The following options are: Stan dar d: Set the display for norma l viewing (default). Viv id : Set the display for enhanced picture contrast and sharpness.
35 Brightness Brightness is the quality where a so urce appears to emit a given amount of light.The brightness ranges from 0 to 50. Th e default value is 25. Contrast Contrast is the dif ference in visual properties between the brighte st and the darkest.
36 Adjustment (Picture setting) 1 Press Menu key to disp lay the OSD Main Menu . 2G o t o P icture setting by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN and confirm by pressing VOL UP . For V ideo Mode and Color T emp 3 Go to (Video Mode or Color T emp) by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN.
37 3.1.2 Audio Setting Function Description: Tr e b l e T reble allows you to adjust high sound tone s. The treble range s from 0 to 50. The default value is 25. Bass Bass allows you to adju st low sound tones. The bass ranges fro m 0 to 50. The de fault value is 25.
38 Adjustment (Audio setting) 1 Press Menu key to disp lay the OSD Main Menu . 2 Go to Audio setting by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN and confirm by pressing VOL UP . For Treble, Bass, and Balance 3 Go to (T reble, Bass or Balance) by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN.
39 3.1.3 TV Setting Function Description: TV system TV system allows you to select the one available system in yo ur region. Cycle through NTSC M, P AL B/G , P AL I, and P AL D/K. TV/CA TV (NTSC system on ly) Select TV or cable TV channels. Cycle through TV and CA TV .
40 Adjustment (TV setting) 1 Press Menu key to disp lay the OSD Main Menu . 2 Go to TV setting by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN and confirm by pressing VOL UP . For TV System, TV/CA TV 3 Go to (TV System or TV/CA TV) by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN. 4P r e s s V O L D O W N or VOL UP to navigate through available options.
41 For Channel Skip 3 Go to Channel Skip by pressing CH UP or CH DO WN and confirm by pressing VOL UP . The screen displays the following adjustment box: 4 Press CH UP or DOWN to sele ct a channel to be skipped. 5 Press VOL UP or VOL DOWN to tur n on/of f the funct ion.
42 6 Press MENU key to confir m and return to Main men u. For Channel Add/Erase 3 Go to Channel Add/Erase and press VOL UP to confirm. The screen displays the follow ing adjustment box: 4 Press CH UP or CH DOWN to select a channel. P ress VOL UP or VOL DOWN to a dd or e rase channels.
43 4 Press CH UP or CH DOWN to se lect the favorite channel to be edited (Favorite 1 to Favorite 4). 5 Press VOL UP once to set the cu rrently viewed channel as your favorite channel or press VOL UP or VOL DOWN again to select a channel other than the cu rrently viewed chann el.
44 3.1.4 Par ental Control Setting (avail able in U.S. only) The Parental Contr ol Function is used to block program vie wing based on the ratings sent by the broadcast st ations in the United S t ates of America. It is contingent upon the av ailablility of the TV net work programming.
45 Function Description: Parent al Lock The feature allows p arent s to lock certa in programs that are un appropriate for children. Select to turn on or off. Rating Programs are sorted ac cording to dif ferent ratings you set. Cycle through the following settings: Child, Custom, Y outh, and Y outh Adult.
46 Adjustment (Parent al control setting) 1 Press Menu key to disp lay the OSD Main Menu . 2 Go to Parental control setting by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN and confirm by pressing VOL UP , then enter the passwor d. For Parental Lock and Ra ting 3 Go to (Parental L ock or Rating) by pressing CH UP o r CH DOWN and confirm by pressing VOL UP .
47 For Movie Rating 3 Go to Movie Rating by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN an d VOL UP to confirm. A box pops out: 4P r e s s CH UP or CH DOWN to move th e cursor . 5P r e s s VOL UP or VOL DOWN to lock or unlock the highlighte d item . 6 Press Menu key to return to M ain Menu.
48 Ratings MP AA Ratings MP AA Ratings allow you to block or unblock broadcast programs based on their movie ratings. G Suitable for a general audience, all children PG Parental gu idance suggested PG-13 Parental gu idance for children under 13 suggested R Restricted viewing.
49 TV Ratings (Age based) The TV rating menu allows you to block or unblock braodcast prog rams based on their TV rating. TV -Y Suitable for a general audience, all children TV -Y7 Directed at childre.
50 3.1.5 C ustomiz e Setting Function Description: Sleep Time Sleep time allows th e TV to be turned of f automatically after a ce rtain period of time. Cycle to the desired sleep time: 30min., 60 min., 90min., 120min., or of f. OSD Timeout Set the duration before the OSD disppear s from the screen.
51 Adjustment (Customize setting) 1 Press Menu key to disp lay the OSD Main Menu . 2 Go to Customize setting by pr essing CH UP or CH DOWN and confirm by pressing VOL UP . For Sleep Time, OSD T imeout, Langua ge and CC/TEXT : 3 Go to (Sleep T ime, OSD T imeout, Language, or CC/TEXT) by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN.
52 3.2 PC Mode 3.2.1 Pictur e Setting The setting provides four options: Brightness, Contrast, Color T emp and Preset. Please refer to 3.1.1 for det ailed description. 3.2.2 Audio Setting The Audio setting provides fo ur options: T reble, Bass, Balance, and Prese t.
53 Function Description: H . Position The option allows users to adju st the horizont al position of the screen. The H position ranges from 0 ~31. The default value is 15. V . Position The option allows users to adju st the vertical position of the screen.
54 Adjustment (Image setting) 1 Press Menu key to disp lay the OSD Main Menu . 2 Go to Image setting by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN and confirm by pressing VOL UP . For H. Position, V . Position, Phase, and Clock 3 Go to (H. Position, V . Position, P hase, or Clock) setting by pressing CH UP or CH DOWN an d VOL UP to confirm.
4 4.1 Maintenance T urn the power off before you be gin cleaning the TV . For best result s, use a clean lens cloth to remo ve dust and fingerpr ints from the screen. Do not wipe the shell of the TV with alcohol, methanol, gasoline or oil product s to avoid damaging the finish.
56 4.2 T r oubleshooting Note: • Do not place the remote control in hot or humid locations. Protect the remote control fr om shock or vibrat ion to avoid damages. • Check the remote control batte ries on a regular basis. Clean any sta in on the rear batter y cover immediately an d use new batteries if fluid is leaking from old batteri es.
57 Picture is OK, but no sound. • Press the VOL UP or VOL DOWN key on the control panel or th e remote control. • Make sure the MTS option is set to MAIN or MONO. • Make sure the source device is function ing properly . • Set the volume to a higher level.
