1 Installing the Phone Installing Backup Batteries CA UTION: Disconnect the phone cord fr om the wall outlet befor e installing or replacing the batteries. In case of a power outage, the phone uses AA alkaline batteries for backup power for incoming voice amplication and visual ringer functions.

18 Display Language This adjustment allows you to display the Caller ID pr ompts in English, French, or Spanish. 1. Press the MENU button until ENG FRA ESP appears in the display. . Use the CID ( p or q ) button to select ENG, FRA , or ESP . . Press MENU button again to sav e.
19 Local Area Code The telephone uses the programmed ar ea codes to determine the number format to display when a valid Caller ID signal is receiv ed. Numbers that match the local area code are display ed as seven digits and are used for dialing back previous numbers.
0 T elephone Operation Speakerphone For hands-free operation and conv enience, this unit is equipped with a speakerphone. For best speakerphone performance, avoid the following: • Areas with high backgr ound noise.
1 Placing a Call Handset 1. Pick up the handset and listen for a dial tone. . Dial the number you want to call. . When nished, hang up the handset . Speakerphone 1. Press the speak er button on the base and listen for a dial tone. . Dial the number you w ant to call.
Speakerphone 1. When the phone rings, press the speak er button to answer a call. . When nished, press the speak er button to hang up. Y ou may switch between the speakerphone and the handset during the dialing process or anytime during a conv ersation.
Amplied Audio Y ou may press the AMPLIFY button to temporarily boost the volume of the handset r eceiver during a call. T o return to normal levels, pr ess the button again. Volume levels will also return to normal when handset is r eplaced on base after call.
W ARNING: This Product is designed for users with hearing disabilities and automatically amplies the volume to the highest level when the AMPLIFY Override switch is set t o “ON” . If you wish to prevent the automatic amplication, please turn the AMPLIFY Override switch locat ed on the back of the set to “OFF” .
5 Neckloop The unit is also equipped with the .5mm Neckloop jack for an optional Neckloop device (to be purchased separately). When Neckloop device is plugged in, audio signal to Handset earpiece will be transferred to the Neckloop device. No output on Handset earpiece will be heard.
6 Vibrating Aler t The unit is equipped with a .5mm vibrating alert jack for an optional vibrating pad to alert you when the phone is ringing. Simply plug the vibrating alert into the jack . When the phone rings, the pad will vibrate with each ring of the phone.
7 Caller ID (CID) IMP OR T ANT : In order to use this unit ’s Caller ID features, y ou must subscribe to either the standard Name/Number Caller ID Service or Call Waiting Caller ID Service. To know who is calling while you ar e on the phone, you must subscribe to Call Waiting Caller ID Ser vice.
8 Call Waiting Caller ID Pr ovi ded yo u subscribe to Call Waiting Caller ID service from your phone company; if you r eceive an incoming call and y ou are alr eady on the phone, a beep indicates the presence of a Call Waiting call on the line.
9 Reviewing CID R ecords As calls are r eceived and stored, the display is updated to let you know how many calls have been r eceived. To scr oll CID recor ds: 1. Make sur e the phone is OFF (not in talk mode). . Press the CI D ( q ) button to review the newest CID r ecord.
0 Dialing a CID Number 1. Make sure the phone is OFF (not in T ALK mode). . Use the CID ( p or q ) button to display the desired recor d. . Press the DIAL button and the display will show PICKUP PHONE . Then you can either pick up the handset r eceiver or press the speak er button.
1 Caller ID Display Messages The following special messages indicate the status of a message or the unit: BLOCKED CALL The caller of the incoming call is register ed as “Private Number ” and their Caller ID information is withheld. CALL W AITING Indicates a call is waiting on the line.
Storing CID Records in Internal Memory Y ou may also store CID information in the phone’s internal memory. NO TE: It is important that you format CID recor ds correctly BEFORE storing in int ernal memory as you cannot reformat CID r ecords stored in memory.
T o Replace a Stored CID Recor d Repeat Step 1 thr ough Step 5 in “Storing CID Recor ds in Internal Memory.” Deleting a CID Recor d 1. Make sure the phone is OFF (not in T ALK mode). . Use the CID ( p or q ) button to display the CID record y ou want to delete.
Memory Stor e as many as 1 numbers in memory for easy dialing. Three can be stor ed in the Emergency Quick Dial locations, and ten additional numbers in the numbered keys (0-9). Storing a Number in Memory 1. Make sure the phone is OFF (not in T ALK mode).
5 Adding a Pause to the Dialing Sequence Use the #/P AUSE button to insert a delay in the dialing sequence when storing a number , for example, when you need to dial 9 to get an outside line. Pause function is enabled when the #/P AUSE button is pressed and held for seconds.
6 Chain Dialing from Memory Use this feature to mak e calls which requir e a sequence of numbers, for instance if you use a calling car d for a frequently called long distance number .
7 T roubleshooting Guide No dial tone • Check installation: Make sur e the telephone line cord is connected to the base unit and the wall phone jack. • Check the hook switch. Make sur e it fully extends when the handset is lifted from the cradle.
8 Low handset or speaker volume • Check the receiv er or speaker volume settings. Can’t be heard by other party • Make sur e phone cord is secur ely plugged in. • Make sur e extension phones are on the hook at the same time you’r e using the phone.
