4 -EN W ARNING Operation of some of the functions of this unit is very complex. Because of this, it was deemed necessary to place these functions into a special screen. This will restrict operation of these functions to times when the vehicle is park ed.
5 -EN Intr oduction Y ou can operate most of the functions of this unit with the monitor display open or closed. For operations with the monitor display c losed, refer to page 43.
6 -EN Basic Operation Detaching the Fr ont P anel 1 Press and hold the PWR (P ower) button f or more than 2 seconds to turn off the power . 2 Press the (Release) b utton at lower left side until the front panel pops out. 3 Grasp the left side of the front panel and pull it out.
7 -EN Basic Operation T urning P o wer On and Off Some of this unit's functions, cannot be perf ormed while the vehicle is in motion. Be sure to stop y our vehicle in a saf e location and apply the par king brake , bef ore attempting these operations.
8 -EN Basic Operation MUTE OPEN/CLOSE ANGLE 7 7 7 7 7 8 8 8 8 8 MODE/LOUD Lo wering the Monitor 1 Press the OPEN/CLOSE button. The unit will beep 3 times and low er the monitor automatically . 9 -EN Basic Operation Adjusting V olume/Balance (Between Left and Right)/F ader (Between Front and Rear) 1 Press the MODE button repeatedly to choose the desired mode.

11 -EN Radio Operation Manual Storing of Station Presets 1 Select the radio band and tune in a desired radio station you wish to store in the preset memory . 2 Press and hold any one of the Preset b uttons (1 through 6) f or at least 2 seconds until the station frequency (sub display) or preset n umber (monitor display) on the displa y blinks.
12 -EN RDS Operation Setting RDS Reception Mode and Receiving RDS Stations The RDS (Radio Data System) is a radio inf ormation system using the 57 kHz subcarr ier of regular FM broadcast.
13 -EN Recalling Preset RDS Stations 1 Press the FUNC button so that the FUNC indicator appears in the sub display . T o perform the same operation with the monitor displa y open, press the FUNC button only when the "FUNC" indicator lights red in the monitor display .
14 -EN Receiving T raffic Information 1 Press the T .INFO b utton to activ ate the T r affic Inf ormation mode. 2 Press the g DN or f UP b utton to select y our desired traffic inf ormation station. When a traffic inf ormation station is tuned in, the TP indicator lights up .
15 -EN Receiving T raffic Inf ormation While Playing CD or Radio 1 Press the T .INFO button repeatedly until the T .INFO indicator appears in the display .
16 -EN Displa ying Radio T e xt T ext messages from a r adio station can be scrolled in the displa y . 1 T une in a radio station that transmits te xt messages.

18 -EN CD Player/Changer Operation (Optional) F ast Forwar d and Bac kwar d 1 Press and hold the g DN or f UP b utton to quickly mo v e backw ard or forw ard until y ou reach the desired section of the trac k. Repeat Pla y 1 Press the RPT (Repeat) button to pla y back repeatedly the trac k being pla yed.
19 -EN M.I.X. (Random Play) 1 Press the M.I.X. button in the pla y or pause mode. The trac ks on the disc will be pla yed bac k in a random sequence. After all the tracks on the disc hav e been pla yed bac k once, the play er will begin a new r andom sequence play until the M.

Pressing the : / J button after entering the 8th character , automatically stores the title into memor y .
21 -EN Erasing Disc Title 1 When the monitor displa y is open, press the TITLE button to select the disc titling mode . Then, press and hold the button f or at least 3 seconds. 2 Press and hold the - / J b utton for at least 2 seconds to activate the title scanning mode .
22 -EN CD Player/Changer Operation (Optional) 3 The CD Changer Selection mode remains activ e for 3 seconds after step 2 is perf or med. Press the B AND button until the desired CD Changer indicator appears on the displa y . NO TE If the selected CD Changer is not connected, the display will show "NO CHANGER.
23 -EN Playing Mini-Disc (MD) When an optional Alpine MD pla yer is connected to the CV A-1003R, you can control the pla yer from the CV A-1003R. (When the MD A-5051R is connected, MDs can be play ed bac k only .) 1 Press the SOURCE button until the "MD" appears in the display .
24 -EN F ast Forwar d and Bac kwar d 1 Press and hold the g DN or f UP b utton to quickly mo v e backw ard or forw ard until y ou reach the desired section of the trac k. When y ou reach the desired section, release the button. The play er star ts pla ying from that section.
25 -EN Still/P ause 1 Press the : / J button during D VD/video CD/CD play to freez e fr ame or pause. T o resume nor mal play , press the : / J b utton for a second time .
26 -EN DVD/Video CD/CD Player Operation (Optional) Repeat Pla y 1 Press the RPT b utton during play to repeatedly play the chapter/tr ack or title/disc being currently play ed. Each press changes the repeat pla y as f ollows: D VD: Video CD/CD: NO TES • The trac k/disc re peat modes cannot be used on video CDs with playback contr ol (PBC).
27 -EN Navigation System Operation (Optional) T urning on the Navigation Mode If an optional Alpine Navigation System is connected, the display sho ws the na vigation screen.

36 -EN Other Useful Features T urning Sound Guide Function On or Off The Sound Guide function will giv e audible f eedback with a beep sound when a b utton on the unit is pressed to ackno wledge the receipt of the signal from the button. 1 When the monitor displa y is open, press and hold the SETUP button f or at least 2 seconds.
