3 -EN Never Attempt the Following Do not grip or pull out the disc while it is being pulled back into the player by the automatic reloading mechanism. Do not attempt to insert a disc into the unit when the unit power is of f. Inserting Discs Y our player accepts only one disc at a time for playback.
4 -EN Basic Operation PO WER MODE/A udio Control RESET MUTE ANGLE 8 9 Detaching the Fr ont P anel 1 Press and hold the PO WER button f or at least 2 seconds to turn off the power . 2 Press the (Release) button at upper left side until the front panel pops out.
5 -EN T urning P ower On and Off 1 Press the PO WER button to turn on the unit. NOTE The unit can be turned on by pr essing any other button except the c or CLK/TITLE b utton. The volume le vel gr adually increases to the previous le vel y ou were listening to before the unit was turned off.
6 -EN SETUP CLK TUNE g DN f UP MODE/Audio Contr ol Setting Time 1 In the Clock priority mode, press and hold the CLK (clock) b utton f or at least 2 seconds while the time is displa y ed. The time indication will blink. 2 Rotate the A udio Contr ol knob to adjust the hours while the time indication is blinking.

8 -EN Setting the Subw oofer Output Y ou can set the subw oof er output to stereo or monaural. Make sure to set the correct output f or your subwoof er type. 1 Press and hold the SETUP button f or at least 2 seconds. 2 Press the f UP button to select “ Switching the SUB-W monaural/Stereo (SUB-W STEREO or MONO) mode.
9 -EN Sound (Beep) Guide Function This function will give audib le feedbac k with varying tones depending upon the button pressed. 1 Press and hold the SETUP button f or at least 2 seconds. 2 Press the f UP button repeatedly to select “ BEEP . ” Each press of the f UP button changes the modes as shown: ∗ Displa y ed when you set SUB-W to ON.

11 -EN Demonstration This unit has a Demonstration feature which simulates the displa y functions. 1 Press and hold the SETUP b utton for at least 2 seconds. 2 Press the f UP button to select the DEMO mode. Each press changes the modes as shown: ∗ Displa yed when y ou set SUB-W to ON.
12 -EN Basic Operation f UP g DN DEFEA T DISP/B.OUT Defeat Use the DEFEA T b utton to return the previously adjusted settings of DHE, EQ, and CSD (Customized Sound Database) to the f actor y def ault settings . 1 Press and hold the DEFEA T button f or at least 2 seconds to turn Defeat on.
13 -EN Blac k out Mode On and Off When the Black out mode is tur ned on, the display will turn off to reduce power consumption. This additional pow er enhances the sound quality . 1 Press and hold the B.OUT button f or at least 2 seconds to star t the blac kout mode .
14 -EN B AND/ T .S.M. g DN f UP TITLE MODE/ Audio Contr ol Basic Operation Displa ying the Title/T ext It is possible to displa y the CD/Station title if the title has been previously inputted. For details, see “ Titling Disc/Stations ” (page 15).
15 -EN Titling Discs/Stations It is possible to title y our fa vorite CD's or r adio stations. 1 Press the TITLE button and select the title display mode . F or details, see “ Displaying the Title/T e xt ” (page 14). 2 Press and hold the TITLE b utton for at least 2 seconds.
16 -EN Radio Operation SOURCE B AND g DN f UP TUNE/A.ME Preset buttons (1 thr ough 6) A utomatic Seek T uning 1 Press the SOURCE button until a r adio frequency appears in the displa y . 2 Press the BAND button repeatedly until the desired radio band is displa yed.
17 -EN Manual Storing of Station Presets 1 Select the radio band and tune in a desired radio station you wish to store in the preset memory . 2 Press and hold any one of the Preset b uttons (1 through 6) f or at least 2 seconds until the station frequency on the displa y blinks .
18 -EN CD Player Operation SOURCE c - / J Insert a disc with the label side facing up. f UP g DN REPEA T Pla yback 1 Press the c button. The mov able displa y will open. 2 Inser t a disc with the label side f acing up . The disc will be pulled into the unit automatically .
19 -EN Music Sensor (Skip) 1 Momentarily press the g DN button once during CD play to return to the beginning of the current trac k. If you wish to access the beginning of a trac k fur ther back, repeatedly press until you reach the desired tr ack. Press the f UP b utton once to adv ance to the beginning of the ne xt track.
20 -EN CD Player Operation SOURCE F Select buttons (1 thr ough 6) B AND M.I.X. (Random Play) 1 Press the M.I.X. button in the pla y or pause mode. The trac ks on the disc will be pla y ed back in a random sequence . After all the trac ks on the disc hav e been play ed bac k once, the pla yer will begin a new r andom sequence pla y until the M.
21 -EN Contr olling CD Changer (Optional) An optional 6-disc or 12-disc CD Changer may be connected to the CD A-7878 if it is Ai-NET compatible . With a CD Changer connected to the Ai-NET input of the CD A-7878, the CD Changer will be controllable from the CD A-7878.
22 -EN Playing MP3 Files Y ou can pla y CD-ROMs , CD-Rs, and CD-R Ws containing MP3 files on this unit. Use the f or mat compliant with ISO 9660 le vel 1 or lev el 2. For further information about pla ying or storing MP3 files, ref er to pages 24 - 25 before using the unit.
23 -EN M.I.X. (Random Play) 1 Press the M.I.X. button in the pla y or pause mode. The files or trac ks on the disc will be play ed back in a random sequence . After all the files and trac ks on the disc hav e been pla yed bac k once, the pla yer will begin a ne w random sequence pla y until the M.

28 -EN Adjusting the Sound Operation The Crosso ver/Time Correction Crosso ver: This unit is equipped with an Active Crosso ver . The crossov er limits the frequencies deliv ered to the outputs. Each channel is controlled independently . Thus, each speak er pair can be dr iven b y the frequencies f or which they ha ve been optimally designed.

This number is an 8 character alphanumeric number that is printed on a label directly on the XM Receiver .
