2 Introduction W elcome to W ashSmar t™ and QuickSmart™ Thank you f or buying a Fisher & P aykel clothes washer from our F ront Loading range. We are proud of this washer and trust it will serve you well f or many years.
3 Installation instructions Acc essories Please check you rec eived the following ac cessories with your Fisher & P aykel washer . Y ou will find them inside the drum: 2 x Inlet hoses .
Installation instructions 4 Location Install the machine on a solid and level floor sur fac e ensuring it has at least 20 mm clearance on each side. The washer must not be installed on any textured floor cov erings (eg carpet, rugs).
5 Installation instructions If you have an uncon trolled water heating sourc e (eg a wet back or solar heating system) y ou should fit a Hot ‘N’ Safe Valv e.
6 Installation instructions Electrical connection 1 This appliance must be connected to a 220 V – 240 V , 50 H z, sinusoidal , 10 A electrical supply. 2 Uncoil the power c ord, remov e and discard the plastic pin cov er and plug into a wall socket. 3 Connect the appliance to an earthed outlet protected by a fuse of suitable capacity .

14 W ashSmar t™ and QuickSmar t™ con trols SmartT ouch Control Dial The SmartT ouch Control Dial provides easy and efficient w ash c y cle selection. As you rotate the dial , the icon of the wash cycle selected will be illuminated, along with the default settings f or that cycle on the right side of the control panel .
15 Safety featur es Door lock The door of your washer is locked once y ou touch ST ART / P AUSE until the machine beeps at the end of the cycle, ensuring safety for you and y our family while your machine is operating .
16 Sor ting and loading When preparing your wash load ther e are some important things to consider: Sor ting Sor t it ems according to colour , fabric type, and soil type. W ash fine, delicate fabrics separately from thick, heavy fabrics. Always separa te coloured items fr om whites, especially when they are new .
17 Sor ting and loading Before y ou load Check pockets for items that c ould damage your clothes or get caught in the washer . Close zippers, hooks and eyes , and other fastenings (ie fasten the opening of duvet / doona covers), and r emove loose bra wires .
18 Detergen t and fabric sof t ener Detergent type Y our W ashSmar t ™ or QuickSmart ™ washer requires low sudsing detergen t to prevent ov ersudsing problems. L ow sudsing detergent comes in po wder , liquid or pod form and is labelled “Fr ont Loading ” , “Lo w Suds” , High Efficiency ” or “HE” .
19 Detergen t and fabric sof t ener How much detergen t? The correct detergent dosage v aries depending on the amount of soil in your load, the size of the load and the water quality , so getting the correct dose takes some trial and error .
20 W ash c y cles Y our W ashSmar t ™ washer has a number of wash cycles to suit your laundering needs . Selecting the most appropriate cycle for each particular wash load will help ensure you get the best wash r esult. Cy cle Designed for Description Max.

22 W ash c y cle options All wash cycles default to the recommended options f or that cycle based on the average expected load to be washed using that cycle.
23 W ash c y cle options W ash Boost Pre W ash F or extra dir ty loads you can perform a PRE W ASH. Y our washer will star t the wash with a short wash in cool water t o remove ex cess soil. After this the machine will drain and then fill at the selected temperature f or the main wash.
24 W ash c y cle options Keylock This option enables you to deactivate the butt ons on the display panel, exc ept for the POWER and KEYL OCK buttons. This prevents accidental butt on presses. T o turn Keylock mode ON or OFF , when the washer is power ed on: T ouch and hold the KEYL OCK button for 2 seconds .
25 Cust omising wash cycles After using your washer a f ew times you may discov er there are some wash options you pr efer for some cycles. Y ou can programme y our washer to remember the wash options you pr efer for each w ash c y cle.
26 Caring f or your washer When you ha ve finished using your w asher Unplug the machine from the power socket . Wipe around the door and in the rubber gasket t o remove an y remaining water and f oreign matter . T urn off the taps to prev ent the chance of flooding should a hose burst.
27 Caring f or your washer Cleaning the pump filter The pump has a filter to trap f oreign objects that enter the washer along with clothing. The pump filter can be accessed from the front of the w asher . T o clean the filter: This should be cleaned out appro ximately once a month.
28 Caring f or your washer Cleaning the hoses Each hose has a filter in it, prev enting any solid contaminants in the wa ter entering your washing machine. Occasionally you should unscr ew the water inlet hoses where they connect to the taps , check these for any build-up of dirt and wash this out.
29 Before y ou call for service User warnings Y our washer is capable of diagnosing a number of its own problems . It will sound a continuous series of beeps and display a code when it has a problem that y ou can correct yourself . All control panel lights will turn off and the code will be displa yed to inform y ou what the problem is.
30 Before y ou call for service Description Displayed as What should you do? Door is locked The temperatur e in the drum is over 60°C theref ore it is not safe to open the door . Wait un til the temperature drops below 60°C. Check the water level in the drum.
31 F ault codes When a continuous series of beeps is sounded , all the lights turn off on the control panel and a number appears on the display , a fault has occurred. The washer will automa tically enter this mode if a fault occurs. The fault code will be displayed as “Err ” followed by a number on the digital display .
32 Solving operating pr oblems The following is a list of pr oblems you may encount er when using this appliance and some suggestions that may help to corr ect the problem. If you still have problems, please c ontact your Fisher & P aykel Authorised Repairer .
33 Solving operating pr oblems Filling c ontinuously Ensure drain hose is located in standpipe or tub . Ensure standpipe or tub is at least 800 mm high so machine is not siphoning . Poor rinsing Are you using lo w sudsing, front loader deter gent? Are you o verdosing your deter gent? Has the load gone out of balance? Select the RINSE+ option.
34 Solving operating pr oblems Detergent or fabric softener remaining in deter gent dispenser at the end of the cycle W as the detergent dispenser draw er closed throughout the entire cycle? Is the dispenser accumulating dirt? If so clean it out (refer to page 26).
35 Solving wash problems Creasing W as the washer (or dryer) overloaded? Use the EASY IRON or HANDW ASH c y cles. T ry selec ting a slo wer spin speed. Select the WRINKLE FREE option. T ry not to leave wet clothes sitting in the washer or laundry basket.
