6 THE CONCR ET E P AD The sta ndard RS4000 is design ed to ope rate a sing le lea f gate . Bi- parti ng gat e s ystems are p os sibl e wi th th e ad dition of a sec ond RS4000 o perator . (Con sult th e factor y .) Each RS400 0 has its own dedicate d control board containe d within the oper ator cover .
7 above g rade. Two 13/32 dia meter holes wil l need to be drilled o n each side of the 4 x 4 tub e. Center ea ch pair of holes on the face of the post 2- 5/8” apar t and 7/8” down from the top. Each pair of holes is to align w ith the pre- drilled holes in the c hassi s mount ing angles of the RS4000.
8 VEHICLE DETECTOR LOOP BLA N KING FOR SWING G A TES The ins ide loop f or a sw ing g ate insta llation m ust be loca ted at lea st 4 feet outs ide of the arc of t he gate. If it is not, the veh icle detect or may detect the g ate as it move s over the loop a nd cause t he g ate to reope n.

10 PLACING THE RS4000 PEDEST A L UNIT Remove the cover from the RS40 00 operator by removing the four 1/4-20 diameter b olts that secure it to the chassis.
11 INST A LLING THE G ATE ARM KIT The gate arm kit can be ins talled on t he RS4000 on l y after the operat or has bee n properly and securely installed , and the corre ct gate/o perator g eometry relation ship has bee n establ ished and verified. (See Figures 6 and 10.
12 CONN ECTIN G THE OPE RA TO R TO THE ELECTRIC A L SERVICE It will be necessary to run two conduits to the RS4 0 00. One will be used for the A- C power lines and an other for the low vol tage, class 2 wiring. Se e Figure 8. There are cutou ts on the bottom of the Operator Chass i s to accept thes e two conduits.
13 LIGHTNING PROT ECTI ON For area s where a h igh proba bility of ground lig htning strik es exists (Flori da, Ge orgia, e tc.,) a ddition al light n ing protec tion should be installed in the RS4000.
14 A CCE SSORY EQUIPM ENT HOOK-UP All acces sor y equipmen t is co nnect ed to t he termin al st rips located on the control pa nel of the RS4000. There are 11 command inputs available to the installer on the RS4000 in addition to 2 comm ons.

Connec t the other con tact to one of the followi ng terminals depe nding on func tion desire d: Term inal #2 (ALTERNATE), Terminal #4 (RADIO OPEN), Terminal #5 (FREE EXIT), Terminal #6 (OPEN) or Termi nal #7 (CLOSE).

18 TIMER TO CLOS E SETTIN G The Time r to Close is cont roll ed by the setting of the “A UTO CLO SE TIME R” potent iomete r on the cont rol b oard, se e Figure 19. When the pot i s adjusted f u lly counter-clockwise the Timer- To-Close is di sabled.
