OPERA TING INSTR UCTIONS T urn your ecosmart on by pressing the PO WER but ton. Remov e the fabric softener dispenser . • Use half the recommended dose of bleach. • Dilute bleach and pour carefull y down the inner surface of the agitator stem, in-line with the fins.
• If you wish to use fabric softener , place it in the dispenser on the top of the agitator . • Select the Softener Rinse option so that softener will be dispensed corr ectly . (Refer to fabric soften er page 7 and 13) • Close the lid and press y our chosen wash cycle .
ABOUT Y OUR ECOSMAR T Phase 1 - FRONT LO ADER TYPE W ASH The ecosmart fills the bowl, at the selected tem perature, with just enough water so that the clothes are 100% saturated. This small amount of sudsy water is cir culated thr ough the clothes, up the specially designed portal and back onto the clothes with a waterfall effect.
The wash pr ogress lights sho w all the tasks y our ecosmart will complete during the wash cycle . As each task is completed a light goes out, so you can tell at a glance how far the cycle has to g o . AD V ANCING THE W ASH CYCLE T o shor ten the wash time , to rinse and spin only , or to spin only: 1.
W ASH CYCLES AND OPTIONS When you pr ess POWER to turn on y our ecosmar t , it will automatically select a: • REGULAR wash cycle • W ARM wash temperature • AUT O water lev el • F AST spin speed Each of these wash options can be alter ed to suit your wash needs.
W e recommend the use of softener dryer sheets because liquid fabric softener has been known to cause an unpleasant build-up inside washing machines. (Refer to Scrud page 13) If you do wish to use liquid fabric softener y ou must select the SOFTENER RINSE option.
W ASH CYCLES AND OPTIONS AUT O W A TER LEVEL Y our ecosmart can automatically select the appr opriate water level f or the load. 1. Place your clothes in the machine, and press P ow er . 2. Select wash cycle (select Auto if not automaticall y selected) 3.
SPIN HOLD DELA Y ST AR T CLO THES CARE SAFEGU ARDS 9 W ASH CYCLES AND OPTIONS Use the spin HOLD option to: • Remov e drip dr y garments fr om a mix ed load befor e the wash goes into spin. • Minimize creasing that is caused when clothes ar e left sitting in the machine at the end of the cycle.
W ASH CYCLES AND OPTIONS Y ou can program y our ecosmar t to remember the wash options you pr efer for each wash cycle. For instance, you ma y want to set the Regular cycle to cold wash or set Hea vy Duty to include a soak. T O CUST OMIZE A CYCLE 1. Press the P ower Button.
Mak e sure ther e is enough room in the machine f or items to mov e when being washed. Forcing large items into the machine ma y result in them being damaged during washing. Some items float up during the wash (eg comforters and pillows). If they sit too high they ma y touch sta tion ar y parts of the machine during agitate or spin.
BEFORE Y OU W ASH 12 T o get the best wash results sort your clothes befor e washing. • COLOR Sort white fabrics from color ed fabrics. • CARE LABELS The care label will tell y ou about the fabric of the garment and how it should be washed. • SOIL Sort clothes according to the type and amount of soil.
13 BEFORE Y OU W ASH Check clothing care labels f or special instructions. Liquid bleach: 1. Use half the recommended dose of bleach and dilute with water . 2. Remov e the fabric softener dispenser and pour down the inside edge of the agitator stem, in line with the fins.
CHANGING PRE-SET OPTIONS After using your ecosmart you ma y want to fine tune some of the options to suit y our wash needs. Y ou can change the following pr e-set options: • the default rinse option.
1. Pr ess ST AR T / P AUSE and hold down. Press PO WER. 3. Use the buttons on the panel to change the pre-set options. 15 CHANGING PRE-SET OPTIONS 2. This diagram belo w sho ws ho w the lights relate to the options y ou can change. It also shows what lights will be on when y ou first enter the Option Adjustment Mode.
CHANGING PRE-SET OPTIONS When your ecosmart is spinning it can sense if the wash load is out of balance and will stop and r etr y spinning up to 3 times.
The beeps signaling the end of the cycle can be increased or decr eased. 1. Enter the Option Adjustment Mode . 2. Use the W ASH OPTION button to select the number of beeps y ou pref er . 3. Press PO WER to stor e your selection. The normal rinse on the Regular and Hea vy Duty cycles is a Show er Rinse.
MA CHINE INFORMA TION WHEN Y OU HA VE FINISHED • T urn off the faucets to pre vent an y chance of flood ing should a hose burst. • Unplug the machine fr om the wall sock et. CLEANING Y OUR ECOSMAR T • Clean with a soft damp cloth and wipe dry . Do not use chemical or scouring cleaners as the y can damag e the paint and plastic surfaces.
The ecosmart will then fill with hot water and do a hot wash. It’ s a good idea to clean the machine using this cycle without clothes and a couple of cups of pow ered detergent, every few w eeks.
