Plunge Components Depth Stop Turret 8 OF 2200 EB Router The depth stop turret has four positions, each with a different height, or offset from the base position. The desired final routing depth i s set for the base position, and the four offset positions allow for incr ementa l depths to reach the final depth.
Basic Operation Changing Router Bits The OF 2200 EB has the unique feature of a ratcheting spindle lock. Because the spin dl e lock is ratcheted, you don't need to remove the wrench to make multiple turns of the collet nut; simply move the wrench back and forth.
Setting the Plunge Depth Offset from a Surface Setting the plunge depth as an offset from a surface is used when making plough or dado cuts at a specific depth below the surface of the workpiece. Refer to the Plunge Components descriptions on page 8. 1.
Changing Baseplates A variety of optional basepl ates are avai lable for the router with a full range from narrow to wide openings. Typicall y, you want to u se a bas eplate with an op ening s lightly larg er than the diameter of the router bit. Router baseplates can be changed in seconds without needing any tools.

The proper router feed directi on is a Push-cut, and is described below. 12 OF 2200 EB Router Operating the router in the correct directio n i s important for maintaining control over the router.
Fixed Depth Using the Turret Latch The turret latch can be used during fixed depth routing to provid e an easy me ans for making small increm ental changes in routing depth. An exampl e of thi s is for inlaying a component or other piece of wood i nto a substrate wood, where the inlay needs to be perfectly flush with the substrate surface.
Using a Template Guide ► To install the template gui de to the router base, follow the procedure described on page 11. ► Template guides are availabl e wi th a variety of bushing diameters.
Multi-depth Profiles There are several reasons for making multiple p asses with edge fo rming, pro file cutters. ► For larg e profile s, a shallo w first-pa ss can be made to remove the bulk of the material. ► Several shallow passes can be made for better control with large router bits.
Precision Routing There are many a pplicatio ns where precisio n routing is required, such as template routing, dados, fluting, and inl ays. Inlaying a secondary component, such as hardware, into an existing substrate is typical ly where the greatest level of precision is required.
Tips for Successful Routing Chipping and Tearout One of the mos t common prob lems woodworker s will encounter when using a router is chipping and tearout of the workpi ece. The following tips can reduce the occurrence of chi pping and tearout. ► Take shallower passes to reach your final depth.
Climb-Cut Routing WARNING! Climb-cutting with a router increases the risk of serious injury. Read, understand, and follow all of the warning messages below: ► The router bit can grab the workpiece at any time, resultin g in a loss of cont rol. ► Never attempt climb-cutting with l arge diameter bits.
