QGE 100 • Reference Information 51 51 4. At the command prompt, enter ping IP address . The computer r eturns a display similar to the figure below . The Pinging ... line reports the actual numeric IP addr ess, regardless of whether you entered the addr ess or an alias name.
QGE 100 • Reference Information 52 52 IP addresses and octets V alid IP addresses consist of four 1-, 2-, or 3-digit numeric sub-fields, called “octets,” which are separated by dots (periods) (figur e 35, below). Each octet can be numbered from 000 thr ough 255.
QGE 100 • Reference Information 53 53 T r oubleshooting Performance In an ideal QGE 100 system, the source displayed on the viewing device should be virtually indistinguishable from the original sour ce. However , under certain circumstances, you may notice some reduction in performance.
QGE 100 • Reference Information 54 54 TIP: In addition to the improved image quality that digital sour ces provide, they are also mor e efficient on encoding. This is because analog sour ces invariably contain a certain amount of noise and this can add to the overall content of the data stream.
