8 1 . 5 R E A R P A N EL During initial setup you will be connecting your DVR to multiple input and output de vices. This is d one through the rear panel.
9 ○ ○ ○ ○ 9 HDMI: Conne ct to an HDMI-compatible unit. This HDMI-compa tible unit will be treated as another call monitor. Please use HDMI cables that have the HDMI logo .
10 1 . 6 H D D I NS T A L L A T I O N Before installing the HDDs, plea se check the location to install HDDs. Th e followin g pictu re shows t he location of built-in HDDs.
11 2 I N S T A L L A T I O N 2 . 1 V I D E O I N P U T S / O UT P UT S I N S T A L L A T I O N Cameras ha ve to be cabled with 75 Ohm video cable, e.g. RG-59, RG-12 and suitable BNC p lugs. Due to inappro priate absorbability, 50 Ohm coax cable (e.g. RG58), antenna cable and further types of coax cable a re not suitable.
12 All connected vid eo sources must provide a 1 V pp NTSC/EIA or PAL/CCIR sta ndard video signal (depending on DV R version PAL / NTSC). When interconne cting transmission lines (twisted pair, f ibre optics, radio) to the video inputs, ma ke sure all receivers are accu rately calibrated.
13 2 . 2 A UD I O I NS T A LL A TI O N The DVRs p rovide 16/8 audio inputs and 1 audio outpu t. The inputs are desig ned for max. 1 V pp @ 20 KOhm input. The installation h as to be effected with audio coax ca ble and RCA plugs. The output p rovides a max.
14 2 . 3 A L A R M / C O N T R O L C O N T A CT S I N S T A L LA T I O N The alarm input s can be used for recording start or recording rate adjustment. Furthermore, alarm reactions such as camera switching to monitors, buzzer, e -mail and network alarm are available.

16 2. 4.1 Ge ne r al R S- 48 5 b u s i nst al la t i on The EKB-500 ke yboard uses an RS-485 simp lex wiring; the signal is transferred via a sing le twisted pair line. CAT5 ne twork cable is recommended, UPT version (unsh ielded) is sufficient for normal applicat ion.
17 An RS-485 d istributor can also be used to increase the maximum nu mber of devices on the bus as well a s the total range. Each distributor output provides another RS-485 bus.

Loca l telemetry control is provided by USB - mouse control or by the optional EKB-500 keyboard.
19 2 . 7 N E T W OR K C ON N E C T IO N This section on ly describes physical conne ction to an Ethernet network. This step must be completed before the DVR’s c an connect to the network.

21 3 M O U S E A N D F R O N T P A N E L O P E R A T I O N Paragon 264x4/264x2 se ries DVR suppo rts mu ltiple sources to control t he DVR. It can b e controlled with a mouse, the fron t panel, an EKB500, the handheld remote control, or serial command f rom RS232 port.

In a view consisting of more than one channel, turning Jog or Shuttle can scroll th rough each channel that is displayed. The selected channel will be high lighted by white frame.

27 4 G E N E R A L D V R O P E R A T I O N S This ch apter introduces the operations o n major functions including playback, layout change, sequence, triplex operatio ns, copy, and search. 4 . 1 R E C OR D By default, the DV R will always be in record mode.

45 5 . 3 C A M ER A S E TT I N G Figure 5-2 is a screen sh ot of the CAMERA SETTING MENU . This menu is u sed to configure individual camera set tings. Figure 5- 2 Camera Menu -Basic Setting 5. 3.1 Bas ic Set ti n g Camera: Select the camera number. Title: The title setting allows you to assign a title to selected camera.
46 Covert: Check t he box to hide the ca mera picture in live and se quence modes. However, th e image will still be recorded and can be played back by any use r who has playback rights. Record Mode: 2 record modes are available. Normal + Event: Th is recording mode includes continuous and event recording.

Brightness: Ad justs how bright/dark the picture appears. If details appear to be lost in the shadows or darker regions, try increasing the Brightness.

NOTE: Since every Network Configu ration is different, please check with your Network Administrat or or ISP to see if your DVR requires specific IP addresses and/or port numbers.
