Loadin g Plai n Pap er The following procedure explains how to load plai n bond paper. F or instr uctions on loading coate d or glossy paper , envelopes, and transparencie s, see page 1-7. You can load up to 100 she ets of plai n paper. F or paper specificat ions, see Append ix A.
1. Low er the o utpu t tray at the f ront of the p r int er . The n sli de out th e exte nsion. 2. Slide th e le ft edge gu ide on th e sheet feeder to the le ft as far as it wi ll go. 3. Fan a st ack of paper ; then t ap it on a flat surfa ce to even the edges.
4. Load the stack of paper, pri ntable side up, so t hat its ri ght edg e is fir mly ag ain st the r igh t s ide of the shee t fee der. ( Do no t l oad paper abov e the a rrow prin ted o n th e ins id e o f the left e dge guide on t he sheet feeder.) Then sli de the left edge guide ag ainst the left edge of t he paper.
❑ After pri nting on high-quality glossy paper or tran sparenci es, remove each shee t from the output t ray immediately. Note: If you load multip le shee ts of glossy paper, the min i mum top margin is 1.2 inches (30 mm). T o p rint wit h a smaller top margin, load and print glossy paper one sheet at a time. Follow t h ese ste ps to lo a d special paper or transparency film: 1.

❑ Leave the old cartridge install ed i n th e printer until y ou are ready to replace it with a new one. Attempting to pri nt without a cartri dge installed can damage the pri nter. ❑ If you replace a cartridge when the Data light is on , you must turn off yo ur p rinter and then tu rn it back on.
Removing and Installing Ink Cartridges Follow th ese ste ps to repl ace eith er o r bot h ink car tridges: 1. Mak e sure the prin ter is on an d one of the In k Out lig ht s is flashing or turned on. 2. Pr e ss th e Pau se bu tton ( check t hat the Pau se li gh t comes on).

Cleanin g the Printer If you wa nt to clean the p rin ter, f ollow th ese s teps: 1. Turn off th e print er and disconnect any cables con nected to it. B e sure t o keep th e prin ter cove r close d as you clean it. 2. Remove a ny paper or ot her media fr om the she et feed er.

Calibra ting th e Printer When Printing from DOS If vertical lines are m isalig ned when you pr int from DOS applicat ions, y ou ma y need to ca librat e the pr int er using its adjustm ent mode . To veri fy that your pr inte r needs calibrat ing, print a demonstration p age as instructed on page 2-7.

Check whet her economy pr inting mode is on. To turn off this mode, press th e Ec onom y/ Condensed butt on un til th e Econo my light goe s o ff. Ch eck wheth er y our p a per is mo i s t or da mp. I nk jet p rinte rs are sen siti ve to mo istur e absorbe d by pap er.
You se e white banding in your printouts. Turn on MicroWea ve in th e print er driver . If you still see whit e banding, c lean the print heads as de scribe d ear lier in the chap ter .
Ch eck th at the prin te r dri ver’s Br i ghtn ess and Con tr as t settings (PC d riv er) or Light/Dark set tin g (Macin tosh driv er) are app ropr iate for t he image.
Printing ha s stopp e d a nd the Pause ligh t is on. Printi ng is tempor ari ly suspen ded . Press the Paus e but ton to continue . Printing ha s stopp e d b ut the Pause light i s off.
All ligh t s except the Powe r light flash and noth ing prints. Contact your deale r or your Authoriz ed EPSON ser vicer. Printi ng stops and the Data and Pause lights flash. Ther e is a problem w ith the car riage . Tu rn off th e pr inter . After a few seconds , turn it ba ck on an d try pr int ing again .
You see error messages on your PC because of print in g confli cts. B ef ore sen d ing print job s to the prin ter, the E PSO N Spoo l Manager stores them i n a temp orary direct o ry. If you see conflict error messa ges or printing is very slow, the problem may be ca used by other t emporar y fil es in th is direct ory.
Make sure you sele cted t he corre ct P aper Size option in the printe r driver ; see your Setup and Sof tware Guide for instructions. Also make sure the margins you selec ted in your applicat ion softwar e fit the pa per size you’re usin g. Text printin g is slow.
T he pri nter doe s not seem t o receive print jobs. On a PC, rel ease any pri nt job s th at may b e he ld in th e EPSON Spoo l Manage r. St art S pool Mana ge r and click a ny job marke d pending or h eld. Then op en the Docume nt menu and select Delete .
Paper Handling Prob lems This section describes how to pr event paper jams and ensure that p aper fee ds proper ly. Paper Jam Problems If pape r jam s inside t he p rin ter fre quen tly, try t he fol lowing: ❑ Use a high er q ualit y p aper th at is suitab le fo r ink jet prin ter s and is not too t hin , too t hick , or r ough.
❑ The pap er was ex posed to excess h umidity, ove r 60%. See Appendix A for sp ecificati ons on required environme ntal conditions. ❑ The l eft e dge g uid e i s to o tigh t or to o loo se; a dju st it for t he size of t he paper . ❑ To o man y s heet s a re l oad ed i n th e she et f eed er.
Ejected paper is wrink led . The paper is too thin or damp. Do not st o re paper in d amp or humid places. Single-shee t paper does not full y eject. Use the Load/Ej ect button t o eject t he page. The paper is too long. Us e paper t hat is w ithin t he sp ecified size.

Fon t s The printer c omes with an installed set of fon ts, which are selectable using the Defau lt s etting mode. However, the printer always uses the fonts you select with your software p ro g ram. The only time you need to select the printer’ s in stalle d fonts is when your softwa re program does not allow you to select fonts.

Se non hai ancora comprato il Epson II è un buon momento per familiarizzare con i dati di base del prodotto. Prime consultare le pagine iniziali del manuale d’uso, che si trova al di sopra.
