Before Y ou Begin Before Y ou Begin This manual describes ho w to install a Micro Motion ® T -Series sensor . The followi ng informat ion is provided in this manual: Customer service For technical assistance, phone the Micr o Motion Customer Service depa rtment: • In the U.
Before Y ou Begin Definitions The term MVD ™ transmitt er refers to the follo wing transmitter models: • Models 1500, 170 0, 2500, an d 2700 • Models 3500 and 3700 with sensor interf ace code .

Determining a Location Figure 3 T -Series sensor with junction box Step 1 Determining a Location Choose a location for the sensor based on the requirements described in th is section. The foll o wing general guidelines can help you select an appropriate locatio n for the sensor .
Determining a Locati on Figure 4 T -Series sensor ambient an d process temperat ure limits Hazardous area approv als may impose additional limits on ambient and process temperature. For the A TEX “T” rating, refer to the A TEX documentation shipped w ith the sensor or av ailable on the Micro Motion web site at www .
Determining a Location Maximum wiring distances If the transmitter is mounted remote ly from the sensor , the maximum di stance between the sensor and transmitter depends on cable type. See T able 2. Pipe run Micro Motion sensors d o not require a straight run of pipe upstream or downstream.
Orienting the Sensor Step 2 Orienting the Sensor The sensor will function proper ly in an y orientation if the sensor tube s remain f illed with process fluid. Micro Motion recommends orienting the sensor in a v ertical pipeline, with process flu id flo w ing upwa rd through the sensor (see Figure 5).
Orientin g the Se nsor Figure 6 Eccentric redu cer • The gap between the ele ctronics housing and se nsor body shou ld be inspected period ically . Man ually clean this gap when necessary . • The ASME Bioprocess Equipment Standard (ASME BPE-19 97), section SC-3.
Mounti ng the Sensor Step 3 Mounting the Sensor Use your commo n practices to minimize to rque and bendi ng load on process connections. T o reduce the risk of condensation or excessiv e moisture , the conduit opening should not point upward (if possible).
Wiring Step 4 Wiring Hazardous area installations If you are installing the sensor in a hazardous location, verify that the hazardous classif ication information printed on the sensor tag matches the en vironm ent in which the sensor will be installed.

Additional wiring instructions for the tran smitter can be found in the transmitter manual. Note: Never gr ound the 4-wire cable shield an d shield dr ain wir e(s) at the transmitter .
Grounding Step 5 Grounding The sensor can be grounde d via the piping if the joints in the pipeline are ground- bonded. If the sen sor is not grounded via the piping, connect a groun d wire to the in ternal or exter nal grounding scre w , which is located on the core processo r housing or junction box.
Purge Fittings 4. Connect the supp ly of nitrogen or ar gon g as to the inlet pur ge connection or open inlet pur ge line. Leav e the outlet connec tion open. • Exercise caution to a voi d introducing dirt, moisture, rust, or other contaminants into the sensor case.
Return Policy Return Policy Micro Motion procedu res must be followed when retu rning equipment. These procedures ensure le gal compliance with go vernment transpor tation agencies and help pro vide a safe working en vironment for Micro Motion employees.
