2 SECTION 2 – INSTALLATION INSTRUCTI O NS 2.1 Introduction Important : This manual d escribes the 2- W ire 4 - 20mA versions of the E CO -A-X . T he unit is a fix ed - point m onitor des igned to provide continuous m onitoring of hazardo us gase s in the work place.
3 2.3 Transmitter / Sensor Location Prior to th e instal lation proc ess , a locatio n plan f or placing the tr ansm itter and se nsor s hould be develope d. 4 2.4 T he ECO -A- X Encl osure The ECO -A-X enclosur e is an Alum inum or Stainless Steel exp losion - pro of ( NEMA 4X ) enclos ure as sho wn in Figure 2 - 2.

6 ECO -A- X Transmit ter B oard Terminals Note: In Table 3, T B1 Term inals (Po wer Term inals) are non - polar ized ; if ( +) 24 VDC is connec ted to TB1 bo ttom term inal, an d (- ) 24VDC conn ected t o TB1 top t erm inal a loop c urrent of 4- 20mA would still be obtain ed.
7 SECTION 3 – INITIAL START - UP 3.1 “Transmitter Configura ti on” Me nu Figure 3 - 1sho ws the EC O -A-X XMITT ER CONFIG menu use d to acti vate chan nels , precisel y calibrate 4 - 20m A outp uts and set t im e / date. Its m enu s are set at the facto ry an d typicall y not needed by the user .
8 SECTION 4 – OPERATING INSTRUCTI ONS 4.1 Routine Sensor Calibrations Calibrat ion is the m os t important f unction f or e nsur ing c orrect operat ion of the EC O -A-X . T he CAL MODE ( flow c hart sho wn in Figur e 4 - 2) is des igned to m ake c alibration qu ick , easy and error free.
9 Calibration S teps Use the fol lowing s tep - by - s tep proce dure to p erform ZERO and SPAN c alibrati ons. 1. To enter t he CAL MO DE ac tivate the DOW N / C AL ke y with the m agnet and within 5 seconds ac tivate th e EDIT ke y .
10 4.2 ALARM OPERATION The ECO -A-X ha s f ront panel LED indica tors f or Alarm 1 (ALM1) , Alar m 2 (ALM2) and Al arm 3 (FAIL) . W ith 2 - W ire 4 - 20m A operatio n, to cons erve po wer, alar m LED’s only flas h during a larm events.
11 SECTION 5 – SETUP MENU CONFI GUR A TION 5.1 Menus Database Configuration All ECO - A-X configur at ion vari ab les are stor ed in its menu data base. Ma n y menu item s will contain d efault va lues f rom the fac tory and r equire cha nges to bet ter m atch a user ’s partic ular applicat ion.

13 Lineariz ation D ata allows non linear si gnals to be lineari zed b y entering t he corr ect curve i nto the ECO -A-X (Figure 5- 4). If Linear ize is set f or NO, t he CUR VE POINT S m enu data is not us ed and no lin earizatio n is app lied.

15 5.5 Sensor Informati on: Sensor Infor mation has th e SENSO R S ETUP/IN FO m enus shown in Figur e 5 -7 Install N ew Senso r should alwa ys be perf ormed when a new s impl e sens or is inst alled. T his deletes h istorica l CAL data and sets s ensor l ife to 100 % after initial ca libration of the n ew simpl e sensor.
