1 Thank you For purchasing the Portable CD audio system from Emerson. This uniquely designed product has a built-in CD player with a 20 track programmable memory and repeat playback. It also features a clock and great sounding digital tuning AM/FM stereo radio with 20 preset station memories.
2 PREP ARA TION FOR USE Unpacking and Setup • Carefully remove the unit from the display carton and remove all packing material from the unit itself. • Remove any descriptive labels that may be found on either the front or top cabinet of the unit.
Battery Operation The battery compartment is located on the bottom of the cabinet. • Remove the battery compartment door by sliding the Battery Compartment open. • Four (4) “AA” cell batteries are necessary to retain the current settings of the AM/FM tuner and clock.

5 SETTING THE CLOCK Make sure the unit is OFF. Press the CLOCK SET/MEMORY button and the hours will blink. 1 Set the correct minute using the Tuning Up/Clock Adj.(+) FWD. ( ) and (–) REV. ( ) buttons. 4 When finished setting the hour, press the CLOCK SET/MEMORY button again and the minutes will blink.
6 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS Press the POWER button ❶ to turn the unit on, the display will light. Set the VOLUME control ❷ to a low setting. 2 1 1 Press and release the Tuning Up/Clock Adj.(+) FWD. ( ) or (–) REV. ( ) button t o select a station. Press and hold the Tuning Up/Clock Adj.
7 Press the POWER button ❶ to turn the unit on, the display will light. Set the VOLUME control ❷ to a low setting. 2 1 1 Press the CLOCK SET/MEMORY button ❶ . Within 9 seconds, press the MEMORY UP button ❷ until the desired memory number appears on the display.
8 Place a CD on the center spindle, with the printed label side facing up. Close the CD compartment door. 4 Press the POWER button ❶ to turn the unit on, the display will light. Set the VOLUME control ❷ to a low setting. 2 1 1 Press the CD Door OPEN/Close area to open the CD compartment door.
9 During CD playback, if you wish to Pause the disc momentarily, press the PLAY/PAUSE ( ❿ ) button again. Playback stops but the disc continues to spin and the Time flashes in the CD Display. 1 Press the PLAY/PAUSE ( ❿ ) button again to release Pause and resume normal CD playback.
10 To repeat a single track, press the REPEAT button ❶ once. “REPEAT” will blink in the display. Press the Skip/Search FWD. ( ) or REV. ( ) button ❷ to select the specific track that you wish to repeat. When the desired track number appears in the display, press the CD PLAY/PAUSE ( ❿ ) button ❸ to begin playback.
11 Within 9 seconds, press the Skip/Search FWD. ( ) or REV. ( ) button ❶ to select the first track that you wish to program. Example: Track 5. When the desired track number (Example: Track 5) appears in the display, press the CLOCK SET/MEMORY button ❷ again.
12 Plug a connection cable (not included) with 3.5mm plugs from the LINE OUT jack on the external unit to this unit’s AUX input jack. HELPFUL HINTS: • You could connect to the computer audio output to use this unit as an amplified speaker system. Place the unit away from the monitor to avoid interference.
Caring for Compact Discs • Treat the disc carefully. Handle the disc only by its edges. Never allow your fi ngers to come in contact with the shiny, unprinted side of the disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. to the disc label. • Clean the disc periodically with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth.
