Introduction and System Descriptio n 4 2.0 I NTRODUCTION AND S YSTEM D ESCRIPTION Congratulations on your choice of the Liebert G XT2-10000RT20 8 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). It provides conditioned power to microcomp uters and other sens itive electronic equipment.
System Description 5 3.0 S YSTEM D ESCRIPTION 3.1 T ransient V olt age Surge Suppr ession (TVSS) and EMI/RFI Filters These UPS components provide surge protection and filter both elect romagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI ).
System Description 6 3.5 DC to DC Converter The DC-to-DC converter utilizes energy from the batte ry system and rai ses the DC volta ge to the opti- mum operating voltage for the inverte r. This allows the inverter to operate co ntinuously at its opti- mum efficiency and volt age, thus increasin g reliability.

Installation and Configurat ion 10 6.0 I NST ALLATION AND C ONFIGURATION This section includes instructions on how to install, configur e and pe rform initial electrical checks of your UPS installation. DO NOT attempt to start the UPS, turn on any circuit breaker or energize the inp ut power until instructed to do so in 7.
Installation and Configurat ion 11 6.1.2 Inst alling the Adjust able Rack-Mount Kit—Sold Sep arately This kit contains pa rts needed to mount several di fferent models o f UPS an d external battery cabi- nets into EIA310-D standard four- post racks that are 18-32 " deep (457-813mm).
Installation and Configurat ion 12 4. Ge t eight (8) M4 screws a nd eight (8) M4 nuts from the hardware pack in this kit. Each nut has a locking, nylon insert that begins gripping the screw when it is halfway tight. Make sure to tighten the nut and screw completely to ensure locking action.
Installation and Configurat ion 13 6.2 External Battery Cabinet Inst allation Optional Liebert external battery cabinets may be connec ted to the UPS to prov ide additional battery run time. External battery cabinets are design ed to be placed on one side of the UPS or stacked beneath the UPS.
Installation and Configurat ion 14 6.3 Connect Input/Output Power The UPS has hardwire terminal bloc ks for input and output electrical connections. Optional output distribution modules permit connecting additi onal loads to the UPS. These optional plug-a nd-play distribution modules offer di fferent ty pes and numbers of connection plugs.
Installation and Configurat ion 15 6.3.2 Input & Output T erminal Block Connections Conduit entry holes are provided on the rear and side of the box. Input and ou tput wiring should not share the same conduit. For best performance, distribute all L-N loads evenly between L1 and L2.
Installation and Configurat ion 16 6.3.3 Add an Output Power Distribution Module—Op tional To add an o ptional output distrib ution module to the Liebert GXT2 10000RT208: 1. Remove the four screws securing the blank out put distribution cover plate to the rear of the UPS.
Installation and Configurat ion 17 6.4 Inst all the Internal Battery Packs To facilitate ship ping and insta l lation, the Liebert GXT2-10000RT2 08 ships without the internal bat- tery packs installed. Once the UPS is installed in place, the internal battery packs must be installed.
Initial St artup and Electric al Checks 18 7.0 I NITIAL S T ARTUP AND E LECTRICAL C HECKS Initial Startup and the Configuration Program —The UPS ships with a default 120 VAC L-N setting. This is also the most robu st setting in that it can operate with either input phase angle (120 or 180 degrees).
Initial St artup and Electric al Checks 19 18. Press the On button for one seco nd. The bypass indicator will li gh t for several seconds before the UPS On indicator turns on continuously. If th e batteries are charged above 90% of capacity, automatic battery test will run for about 15 seconds.
Configuration Prog ram 20 8.0 C ONFIGURATION P ROGRAM The final step of in stallation may require custom conf iguration of your U PS using the en closed config- uration program. Some configuratio n setti ngs may be changed onl y whil e the UPS is off.
Configuration Prog ram 21 8.3 Configuration Program—Inst allation An easy-to-use installation progra m streamlines th e installation of the configuration program. If you have a previous version of this configuration program installe d, Liebert recommends uni nstalling it by using its Uninsta ll program before installing this updated version.

Configuration Prog ram 25 8.6.3 Frequency Selection The UPS is normally designed for 50Hz or 60Hz operation. The factory default corresponds to the model. All models are capabl e of being used as 50 Hz or 60Hz systems. The UPS will Auto-sense th e utility frequency when fi rst plugged in and set the nominal frequency to match.

Each indicator represents an approximate 2 5 percent increase in load.
Modes of Operati on 31 10.0 M ODES OF O PERATION 10.1 Normal Mode Operation During normal operation, uti lity power provides energy to the UPS. The fi lters, power fa ctor correction circuit and the inverter process this power to provide computer grade power to connected loads.

Maintenance 35 12.0 M AINTENANCE The Liebert GXT2-10000RT208 requires very little maintenance. The batteries are valve-regulated, non-spillable, flame retardant, lead acid and should be kept charged to obtain their design life. The UPS continuously charges the batteries when connected to the utility supply.
Maintenance 36 12.2 UPS Power Modu le Replacement To remove the UPS power module without s hutting off power to the connected load: 1. Place the UPS on internal bypass. This may be d one by any of th e three follow ing methods: a. Press the Off button on the front panel one time.

Trou bleshooting 38 13.0 T ROUBLESHOOTING The informatio n below indicates va rious symptoms a user may enco unter in the event the Liebert GXT2-10000RT208 develops a problem. Use this in formation to determine whether external factors caused the p roblem and h ow to remedy the situation.
Trou bleshooting 39 Under fault condit ions, the Fault indicators will be illumi nated indefinitely while the bat tery charger is operational, or for a maximum of 5 minute s while the battery charger is not operational. If a problem persists, consult your local dealer, Li ebert representative or contact the Liebert World- wide Support Group.
