1 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS This manual contains informati on concerning the in stallation and operation of this Emerson Network Power Liebert NX Uninterrupt ible Power System (U PS). This manual sh ould be read before commencing installa tion. The UPS must be commissioned an d serviced by an engineer approved by the manufacturer (or agent).
2 User-Serviceable Part s All equipmen t maintenance and servicing pr ocedures involving i nternal access requires the use of a tool and should be carried out only by trai ned pers onnel. There are no user-serviceable parts behind covers requiring a tool for removal.
Single Module UPS Install ation 3 1.0 S INGLE M ODULE UPS I NST ALLATION 1.1 Introduction This following section describes the requirements th at must be taken into account when p lanning the positioning an d cabling of the Liebert NX uninterru ptible power supply and related equipme nt.
Single Module UPS Install ation 4 1.3 Location 1.3.1 UPS Room The UPS and its i nternal battery is intende d for indoor installation and should be loca ted in an envi- ronment with clean air and with adequate ventilation to keep th e ambient temperature within the specified operating range (see Table 33 ).
Single Module UPS Install ation 5 1.4 Positioning The cabinet is mounted on four casters for ease of positi oning and for moving short distances. Jacking feet are provided to prevent the UPS from moving once it has been w heeled to its final position.
Single Module UPS Install ation 6 1.4.5 Clearances The Liebert NX has no ventilation grilles at either side of the UPS. To enab le routine tightening of power terminations within the UP S, in addition.
Single Module UPS Install ation 7 1.5.1 Rectifier and Byp ass Input Overcurrent protection must be installed at the di stribution panel of the incoming main supply. The protection must discriminate with the power cables current capacity and with the overload capacity of the system (see Table 38 ).
Single Module UPS Install ation 8 1.6 Power Cables The cable design must comply with the voltages and currents provided in this sect ion, follow local wir- ing practices and take into considerati on the environmental conditions (tem perature and phys ical support media).
Single Module UPS Install ation 9 1.6.1 Cable T ermination Once the equipment has been finally positioned and secured, connect the power cables as described in the followin g procedure. Refer to the appropriate cable connection drawing in 5.0 - Installation Drawing s .
Single Module UPS Install ation 10 Output System Connections 6. Connect the system output cables between th e UPS output (U2-V2-W2- N terminals) and the critical load and tighten the connections to 5Nm for M6 bolts, to 13Nm for M8 bolts or to 26Nm for M10 bolts.
Single Module UPS Install ation 11 1.7 Control Cables and Communication 1.7.1 Monitor Board Features Based on your site’s specific needs, the UPS may re quire auxiliary connections to manage the bat.
Single Module UPS Install ation 12 1.8 Dry Cont act s The UPS provides input dry contacts and output dry contacts. 1.8.1 Input Dry Cont acts There are several input dry contacts at the X3 slot.
Single Module UPS Install ation 13 1.8.2 Maintenance Byp ass Cabinet Interface J26 and J30 are the MBC interfa ce. 1.8.3 External Circuit-Breaker Interface J10 is the interface to any external battery circuit breaker (BCB). Operation 75 6.0 O PERATION 6.1 Introduction The Liebert NXa Uninterruptible Power System is connected between the Mains AC input source and the critical load to provide uninterru ptible power to the latter. The power from the UPS is free from voltage and frequency variati ons and from disturbances experienced at the Mains AC input supp ly.
Operation 76 6.1.1 Split- Bypass I nput Figure 63 illustrates the Liebert NX UP S in what is known as the sp lit-bypass configuration wherein a separate power switch to a dedicated b y pass power source that al so feeds the maintenance bypass line connects the static bypass line.
Operation 77 6.2 Multi Module UPS—1+N Multi-module UP S are formed by several “si ngle un it” UPS modules to constitute “1+N”system where groups of one o r more, up to six, single unit s operate together fo r the purpose of providi ng additional power or reliability or both.
Operation 78 6.2.2 Requirement s for Paralleling of UPS Modules A group of paralleled modules behave as if it we re one large UPS with the advantage of presenting higher reliability . In order to assure that all modu les are equally utilis ed and to comply with rele vant wiring rules, the follow ing requirements apply: 1.
Operation 79 6.3.4 Byp ass Mode If the inverter overlo ad capacity is exceeded, or if the inverter becomes unavailable for any reas on, the static transfer switch will perform a transfer of the load from the inverter to the bypass source, with no interruption in power to the critical AC load.
Operation 80 6.4 Battery Management—Set During Commissioning 6.4.1 Normal Function • Constant charging current— Current can be set up to limit charging power. • Constant boost voltage (if applicable) — Voltage of boost charging can be set as required by the type of battery.
Operating Pro ced ures 81 7.0 O PERATING P ROCEDURES 7.1 Introduction Following installa tion and commissioning by an au thorised service engineer, the UPS will operate in one of the modes described in 6.
Operating Pro ced ures 82 In multi-module systems — perform each step of the procedure in ev ery UPS module before proceed- ing to the next step. 1. Open the UPS door to gain a ccess to the main power switches. 2. Close Bypass input power switch Q2 and UPS output power swit ch Q5.
Operating Pro ced ures 83 7.3 St artup into ECO Mode Applies only to a si ngle module UPS and when programmed by the commissio ning engineer to per- form ECO mode control of th e power delivered to the load.
Operating Pro ced ures 84 7.5 UPS Self-T est The UPS test procedure checks the co ntrol functions of the UPS, the mimic flow chart LEDs and the audible alarm. This self- test is password controll ed and menu driven. It can be carried out from the UPS front panel by the operator and tak es 5 seconds.
Operating Pro ced ures 85 7. Press the EPO (Emergency Power Of f) button at t he UPS front panel of this UPS module only . This will disable further Rectifie r, Inverter, Static Switch an d Battery operation. This will not affect the manual maint enance bypass power switch.
Operating Pro ced ures 86 7.7 Isolation of One Module in a Multi-Module System 7.7.1 Multi-Module Systems W ith External Output CB1 Figure 66 T ypical 1+N system block diagram with co mmon input supply , with sep arate batteries a nd optional output / by pass dis tribution p ane l 1.
Operating Pro ced ures 87 output becomes enabled but interlocking works now. 10. Turn On inverter and join the paralle l system. 7.7.2 Multi-Module System Without Exte rnal Output Circuit Breaker 1 This procedure is indica ted for isolation of one UP S module fro m other modules of a group of other- wise normally operating paralleled UPS modules.
Operating Pro ced ures 88 7.8 Insertion of One Module in a Multi-Module System This procedure is indicated to reintegrate a UPS modu le that has been previous ly isolated from other modules of a group of parall eled UPS modules.
Operating Pro ced ures 89 7.9 Shut down Procedure—Comple te UPS and Load Shut down This procedure must be followed to completely power down the UPS and LOAD . All power switches, isolators and circuit breakers will be opened and power wil l be removed from the load.
Operating Pro ced ures 90 7.1 1 Reset After Shut down fo r Emergency S top (EPO Ac tion) or Other Conditions Once all appro priate measures have been taken to corre ct the problem indicated by the a l.
Operating Pro ced ures 91 7.13 Language Selection The LCD menus and data display are availa ble in 12 languages: Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Ru ssian , Spanish and Swedish. To sele ct a different language tha n the one being displa yed: 1.
