Installing the stand 3 Attac hmen ts Use only attachments recomme nded by Dynex. Outd oor ante nna g round ing If an outside antenna or cable s ystem is connected to your TV , make sure that the antenna or cable sy stem is grounded to p ro vide s ome protection agains t voltage surges and built-up s tatic charges.
4 TV co mponen ts Remo ving the st and T o remov e the stand from the stand column: 1 Lay your TV fa ce down on a table or bench. Make sure that you put down a s oft cushion or cloth so that your TV is no t scratched . 2 Adjust the stand so that the an g le bet ween the stand a nd the T V is 90°.

Making conne ctions 7 Aiming the remote contr ol T o use the remote control: • P oint the remote control towards the remot e se nsor on the front of your TV . The remote control’ s range is about 26 f t. (8 m). Notes: Do not expose the r emote contr o l to shock or liq uids.
8 Making conne ctions Connec ting an anten na or ca ble T V T o connect an antenna, c able TV, or sa tellite TV box: 1 Connect one end of a 75 ohm cable (not included) to the RF OUT jack on the a ntenna or on the ca ble or satellite TV box. 2 Connect the other end of the cable to the ANT/CABLE IN jack on the ba ck of your TV .
Making conne ctions 9 F or a b etter picture, you can conne ct an S -V ideo cabl e to the S-V IDEO Out jack on the VCR and to the S- VI DE O IN jack on your TV . 4 Connect an au dio cable to t he AV AU DIO OUT ja cks on the VCR. 5 Connect the other en d of the cable to the AU D IO I N L and R jack s on the back of your TV .
10 Turning o n your TV for the first time 3 Connect an audio cabl e to the A UDIO OUT jack o n the co mputer , then connec t the other end of the cabl e to the PC A UDIO IN jack on the back of y our T V . Note: The audio cable should have a ster eo mini plu g.

12 Adjusting t he picture Digital s ub- chan nels A digi tal T V signal transmits more data th an an ana log signa l. T his increase in data pro vides a better picture and sound with less st atic and inter ference. The increase d data ca pacity also le ts broadca sters fit several channels into the same bandwidth as an analog signal.
Adjust ing the sou nd 13 • C olor T emp era ture– Sele ct War m ( in c rea se d red ) , Nor ma l , or Cool (increased blue). • Backlight – Adjusts the overall brilliance of t he screen. • N oise Reduc tion– Selects the noise reduc tion mode to reduce picture noise (snow).
14 Changing channel setting s • STEREO —S elect this opt ion for programs broadcast in stereo . • SAP —Select t his option to lis ten to a secondar y au dio program, i f av ail able. • Audio Language —(DTV channels only) Selects an alternate audio language, if available.
Changing ch annel setting s 15 Setting up a fav orite channel list Y ou can create a f avorite channel list so you can quickly browse through your favorite chann els by p ressing FA VORITE , then s elec ting a chann el from the fav orite channel list.
16 Changing channel setting s Check ing the DTV sign al strength Y ou c an check th e DTV signa l strength to determin e if you n eed to adjust your antenna or digita l cabl e input. The higher th e signal strength, the les s likely you are to experience pic ture degradation.
Se tting p arent al con trols 17 Se ttin g parenta l controls P arental contr ols let you prevent y our children from w atching inappropriate materi al on TV . When set, parental contr ols read the rating of the pr ogram (with some ex ceptions, such as news and sports ) and de ny acc ess to progr ams tha t ex ceed the ratings level you se lect.
18 Setting p arental controls 4 Press the number buttons to enter the four- digit password. The defa ult pas sword is 0000 . The P ar ental Contr ols sub -menu opens. 5 Press CH+ or CH– to highlight Change P asswo rd , then press ENTER/VOL+. The Change Passwo rd screen opens.

20 Using closed captioning U sing closed captioning Closed captioning helps the hear in g impa ired with t he broadcas t program, as well as he lping children learn how to read . A bu ilt-in decoder disp lays the audio po rtion of a program as text on the sc r een when this option is selected.

DVD Playba ck 23 Advanced pl ayback All desc ribed func tio ns can be act ivated by pressing the indic ated button on the remote c ontrol. These funct ions are for DVDs. If you play other disc formats, the operation and on-s cr een disp lay are differ ent.
24 DVD Play back • 4:3/PS (PS=Pan and Scan)–S elect if you have a normal aspec t ratio (4:3) TV , although t he NORMAL/LB (let t er box) is a more common choice . In PS mode, wide scre en material will fill the screen, but at the expense of chopping off ex treme left and right edges of the original film picture .
