5 Intr oduction Y our new digital pr ojector pr ovides compu ter and video in puts and has XGA 1024x768 re solution. The projector is easy to connect, easy to use, and easy to main tain. An Interactive Displ ay on the top of the projector g ives you constant feedb ack on the status of the projector .
6 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector pr ovides compute r and video con nectors: • one M1-D/ A (HD, DVI, and computer) • one VES A (HD, HD comp onent, and compu ter) • one S-vi deo • one com posite RCA video • one a udio in/one audio out It al so has an RS -232 serial connector for s erial con trol.
7 Connecting a computer Required compute r connection s Connect the black end of the computer cable t o the Computer 1 connector on the pr ojector . Connect the blue end to the video por t on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you fir st need to disconnect t he monitor cable fr om the computer ’s video port.
8 If you are using a desktop computer and want to s ee the image on your computer screen as well as on t he projection scr een, plug the monito r cable to the bl ack Computer 2 conne ctor on the pr ojector . This connector can be used as monitor out or VESA in.
9 Displa ying a com puter i mage Remove the lens cap. Pr ess the Po w e r bu tton on th e top of the project or or the remote. The LED fla shes green and the fans s tart to run. When the lamp comes on, the sta rtup screen is displayed an d the LED is s teady gr een.
10 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 If you are running W indows 2000, W ind ows ME, or W ind ow XP , skip these steps an d go to “Adj usting th e image” on pag e 12.
11 Skip this pa ge if you did not co nnect th e USB p or tion of the M1 co m- pute r cabl e F or Windo ws 9 8: • If you conn ected the USB cable, th e Add New Har dware W izard appears a gain. Drivers m ust be inst alled to use the USB funct ionality .
12 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the height of th e projector , if nece ssary , by pres sing the re lease but- ton to extend the elevator foot. Rotate th e level ing foot (loca ted at t he bot tom back r igh t corner ), if ne ces- sary . Position the proj ector the desired dis tance from the screen , so that the lens is perpendicul ar to the screen .

14 Displa ying a video ima g e Remove the lens cap. Press t he Po w e r butt on on th e top o f the p rojec tor or t he re mote. The LED flash es green and the fans start to r un. When th e lamp comes on, the star tup screen is display ed and the LE D is steady gr een.
15 Adjust the zoom or focus rin gs by rotating them until the desir ed image size and fo cus are produc ed. If the image is not squar e, adjust the v ertical keystone usi ng the buttons on the keypad. Pr ess the upper Ke y s t o n e button to reduce t he upper part of the image, and press the lower Ke y s t o n e button to r educe th e lower p art.
16 Shutting do wn the projector The projector automati cally blank s the sc reen after n o active s ource is detected for 3 0 minutes. This blank screen helps preserve th e life of the pro - jector . The image r eturns when an active source is detected or a r emote or keypad bu tton is press ed.

26 Using the remote contr o l The remote uses tw o (2) provided AA batteries. They are ea sily installed by sliding t he cover of f the r emote’s ba ck, aligning t he + and - e nds of the ba t- teries, s liding th em into place, and then r eplacing the cover .
27 Using the LiteP or t pla y er LitePor t allows you to display a ny JPEG image a utomatically , without a computer connected. Us e your own JPE Gs from your digital camera, or con- vert y our files, suc h as PowerPoin t or W ord files, into JPEGs using L itePort Utility s oftware (included on the CD).

29 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected pr operly and the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can optimize t he image using the onscreen menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the menus, see page 30. • Adjus t the Keys tone, Cont ras t, or Brig htne ss in the Pi cture me nu.
30 Using the menus T o open the menus, press the Menu bu tton o n the keyp ad or remote. (The menus a utomatically cl ose after 60 seco nds if no butt ons are pressed.) Th e Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desired submenu, then pr ess th e Sel ect butto n.

32 Presets : The pr ovided Pr esets optimize the pr ojector for displaying com- puter pr esentations, photo graphs, and film images. Y ou can use the pr eset as a sta rting point, th en further customize t he settings for ea ch source. T o rest ore the factory default settings, choose Factory Reset in the Set- tings>S er vice menu.
33 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) changes t he clarity of the edges of a video image. Select a sha rpness settin g. Color S pace : This option applies to comput er sources. It allows you to select a color space t hat has been specifically tu ned for the v ideo input.

35 Screen Sav er Off : prevents your comput er from goin g into Screen Save mode. Po w e r S a v e : automati cally tur ns the la mp off after no signals a re det ected for 2 0 minutes . After 1 0 additiona l minutes with no signal, t he pro jector powers dow n.
36 LiteP or t This men u allows you to control the embedded Lit ePort player in your pr o- jector t o display JPEGs s tored on your USB mass storage devi ce.
37 Star tup Logo: allows you t o display a blank Blac k, White, or Blue screen instead of the default screen a t startup and when no sour ce is det ected. Blank Screen : determine s what color i s displayed w hen you pr ess the Blank button on the remote.
38 Effect K ey : al lows you to assi gn a dif fer ent funct ion to the Effe ct button on the re mote to quickly and ea sily use the effect . Only one ef fect can be enabled at a time. H ighlight an ef fect an d press Selec t to choose a dif ferent one.
39 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-abra sive camera lens cleaner to a soft , dry cloth . A void using an exc essive amoun t of cleaner , and do n’t apply the cleaner directly to the len s. Abrasive clea ners, solvent s or other h arsh chemic als might sc ra tch the lens.
40 Replacing the projection lamp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours the lamp has been in use. Fifty h ours before the specifie d end of the lamp’s life, the message “ Replace lamp” briefly appears on the scr een at each startup and in the Interac tive Display .
41 • Be extr emely careful when r emoving the lamp housing. In the unlikely event that the lamp ruptur es, small glass fr agments may be g enerated. The lamp module is desig ned to contain most of these fr agments, but use caution when removing it. Before replacing a ruptured lamp, clean the lamp compa rtment and dispos e of cleaning materia ls.
42 Cleaning the lamp filter screens In dirty or dusty environ ments, the dust fil ter screens on the lamp module and lamp door and in the lamp com partment can become clogged, causing high tempe ratures insid e the lamp module. These high temperatures can impact l amp performance and operating life.
