Y ou can create and chang e the lists yourself, adding and re moving channels as you wish. Chapter 5 42 Tips T IP S • T wo list s cannot have the same name. Fo r exampl e, on TV1, you cannot have two lists name d “Dad’s List.” However , TV1 and TV2 can have lists with the same name s. • Pressing GUIDE to switch Favorites Lists works only if you have added channels to the Favorites List.
43 Securing Y our Receiver and Account Locks An important concern to pa rents is the ability to protect their children. With high tech television comes greater poten tial for unwa nted programming beame d into your home. Use the safeguards described in this chapter to set up and use locks.
Chapter 6 44 What are Locks? W HAT ARE L OCKS ? Locks allow you to passwor d-protect programming based on ratings, or on a channel-by- channel basis. When you have locked the receiver: • If you try to access a locked item or open the Locks men u, the receive r displays a message prompting you to ente r the password.
Locks 45 Creating or Changing a Password C REATING OR C HANGING A P ASSWORD The first thing to do before using the r eceiver locks is set up your password. 1 Press MENU and select Locks (5). 2 If the receiver is locked, enter the passw ord using the NUMBER PAD.

Locks 49 Locking or Unlocking the Fron t Panel L OCKING OR U NLOCKING THE F RONT P ANEL This lock keep s anyone from using the front p anel buttons unless they enter the correct password, but it does n ot lock the remote control buttons. This op tion is only available on TV1 menus.
Chapter 6 50 Tips T IP S • If the receiver displays a message prompting you to enter a p assword, the receiver is locked. • If you want to unlock the re ceiver or any specific lock, use the password for the TV output you’re watching. For exampl e, use TV1’s p assword to unlock TV1’s locks and TV2’s p assw ord for TV2’s locks.

For most Digital Video Recorder (DVR) timers, you select a specific program on a specific channel, and tell the sa tellite receiver how often you wa nt to record that program.
Record Future Programs 63 Timers and Recordings T imer Options The T imer Options screen let s you set the following (not used on all options screens): • Protect Event - Prevents your programs from bein g erased when the receiver fills up. • Set Channel - Select a specific channel.
