Channel II The Silent Mode ™ /trunk release function, is usually controlled by Button II. Silent Mode ™ and Remote V alet ® work by pressing b utton II for less than one second.
5 © 1996 Directed Electronics, Inc. Using Y our S ystem Arming Y ou can tur n on, or arm , the system b y pressing button I of y our transmitter f or one second. When the system arms, y ou will hear a short siren sound, or chirp , and see the parking lights flash once.

10 © 1996 Directed Electronics, Inc. Diagnostics The microprocessor at the hear t of your system is constantly monitoring all of the s witches and sensors connected to it. It detects any f aulty switches and sensors and pre vents them from disab ling the entire system.
11 © 1996 Directed Electronics, Inc. Table of Zones The zone number is the number of LED flashes used by the system to iden- tify that input. The standard input assignments are listed below , along with spaces to write in any optional sensors or s witches you ha ve had installed.
12 © 1996 Directed Electronics, Inc. C ode Hopping ™ Explained The receiver and tr ansmitters each use a mathematical formula called an algorithm to change their code each time the transmitter is used. This tech- nology has been de v eloped to increase the security of the unit.

V ehicle R ecovery S ystem (V RS ® )* The optional V ehicle Recovery System feature is designed to ensure that an y unauthorized user of your v ehicle (ev en if using your ke ys and remote con- trol) will not be able to permanently separate you from y our vehicle .
15 © 1996 Directed Electronics, Arming the VR S ® T o ar m the VRS ® , push the b utton once. This can be done before driving or while driving the vehicle. Once the system is ar med, it will go into its triggered sequence (see below) if an y door is opened and closed.
F rom this point on, when the ignition k e y is turned off, the VRS ® will immediately turn on the F ailSafe ® starter kill. This will pre- vent the v ehicle from being restar ted, thus immobilizing it at that spot. Three minutes after the constant siren output begins, the flashing parking lights and the siren will stop.
