AirLive WL-1500R User’s Manual 6 Unpacking and Setup This chapter provides unpacking and setup information for the IEEE 802.11g Wirele ss Broadband Router. Unpacking Open the box of the Wireless Broadband Router and carefully unpack it. The box should contain the following items: One IEEE 802.
Hardware Installation Front Panel The figure below shows the front panel of the Wirele ss Broadband Router. Figure 1. Front panel POWER This indicator lights green wh en the hub is receives po wer, otherwise it is off. Status This indicator blinks green means the Internet Broadband Router is working successful.
Rear Panel The figure below shows the rear panel of the Wireless Broadband Router. Figure 2. Rear Panel Antenna There are one 2 dBi Gain Antenna in the rear panel for wi reless connection. LAN (1-4) Four RJ-45 10/100Mbps A uto-MDIX ports for connecting to either 10Mbp s or 100Mbps Ethernet connections.

PC Network TCP/IP Setting The network TCP/IP settings differ based on the computer ’s operating system (Win 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP) and are as follows. Windows 95/98/ME Click on the “ Network neighborhood ” i con found on the desktop. Click the right mouse button and a context menu will be show.

Windows XP Point the cursor and click the right bu tton on the “My Network Place” icon. Select “properties” to enter the TCP/IP setting window. Set “ IP address ” to “ Obtain an IP address automatically .” Set “ DNS ” to “ Obtain DNS serv er address automatically .
Wireless Broadband Router Configuration First make sure that the network c onnections are functioning no rmally. This Wireless Broadband Router can be configured using In ternet Explorer 5.
Figure 11. Device information Configuration Menu When the main pag e appears, find the Con figuration menu in the left side of the screen. Click on the setup item that y ou want to configure. There are six main options: WAN, Wireless, LAN, Acce ss Control, System and Wizard as shown in the Configuration Menu screen.
Figure 12. Configuration Menu Setup Wizard Setup wizard is provided as the part of t he web configuration utility. User can simply follow the step-by-step process to get the wireless router configurat ion ready to run in 6 easy steps by clicking on the “Wizard” button on the function menu.

If the Internet Service Providers assign a fixed IP address, choose this option and enter the assigned IP address, subnet mask, gateway IP and DNS IP addresses for your Broadband Router.
Obtain IP Automatically: If connected to the Internet using a PPPoE (Dial-up xDSL) Modem, the ISP will provide a Password and User Name, and then the ISP uses PPPoE.
PPTP: Figure 25. If connected to the Internet using a (PPTP) xDSL Modem, enter the your IP Address, Subnet Mask, G ateway, Server IP, PPTP Account and PPTP Password, Y our Subnet Mask required by your ISP in the appropriate fiel ds. If your ISP has provided you with a Connection ID, enter it in the Connection ID field, otherwi se, leave it zero.
L2TP: Figure 27. If connected to the Internet using a (L2TP) xDSL Modem, enter the your IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, Server IP, L2TP Account and L2TP Passwo rd, Your Subnet Mask required by your ISP in the a ppropriate fields. If your ISP has provided you with a Connection ID, enter it in t he Connection ID field, otherwise, leave it zero.
BigPond: Figure 29. If your ISP is Big Pond Cable, the ISP will provide a User Name, Password, Authentication Server and L ogin Server IP (Optional). Choose this option and ente r the required information.
Step 5: Set Wireless LAN connectio n Click “Enable” to enable wireless LAN. If user enables the wire less LAN, type the SSID in the text box and select a communications channel. The SSID and channel must be the same as wi reless devices attempting communication to the router.
WAN Setting This function enables users to set up the WLAN Router WA N co nnection, specify the IP address for the WAN, add DNS numbers, and enter the MAC add ress. Connection Type: Select the connection type, either DHCP cli en t, Fixed IP or PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP or BigPond from the drop-down list.
PPPoE with Obtain IP Automatically If connected to the Internet using a PPPoE (Dial-up xDSL) Modem, the ISP will pr ovide a Password a nd User Name, and then the ISP uses PPPoE.
PPPoE w ith Specify IP If connected to the Internet using a PPPoE (Dial-up xDSL) Modem, the ISP will provide a Password, User Name and a Specify IP Address, choose this opt ion and enter the required information.
PPTP/L2TP with Obtain IP Automatically If connected to the Internet using a PPT P/L2TP (Dial-up xDSL ) connection, enter the your Server IP, PPTP/L2TP Account and PPTP/L2TP Password, if your ISP has provided you with a DNS IP address, enter it in the DNS field, otherwise, leave it zero.
BigPond Cable If your ISP is Big Pond Cable, the ISP will provide a User Name, Password, Authentication Server and L ogin Server IP (Optional). Choose this option and ente r the required information. Dynamic DNS: This synchronizes the DDNS server with your current Public IP addre ss when you are online.
Wireless setting This section enables u ser to set wireless communications parameters for the router's wireless LAN featu re. Basic This page allow u ser to enable and disable the wireless LAN function, create a SSID, and select the channel for wireless communications.
Security This function enables u ser to set authentication type for se cure wirel ess communications. Open System allows public access to the router via wireless communicatio ns. Shared Ke y requires the user to set a WEP key to exchange data with other wireless clients that have the same WEP key.
WEP: Open System and Shared Key requires the u ser to set a W EP key to exchange data with othe r wireless clients that have the same WEP key. WEP Key Format: Select the key format from the drop-down li st HEX or ASCII. WEP Key Length: Select the level of encryption from the drop- down list.
WPA / WPA2 Figure 46. Figure 47 If WPA or WPA2 EAP is selected, the above screen is sho wn. Pl ease set the length of the encryption key and the parameters for the RADIUS server. Encryption Type: Select the encryption type for TKIP or AES encryption. RASIUS Server: Enter the IP address, Port used and Shared Secret by the Primary Radius Server.
Advanced This function enables user to configu re advanced wireless functions. Figure 48. Beacon Interval: Type the beacon i nterval in the text box. User ca n specify a value from 20 to 1000. The default beacon interval is 100. RTS Threshold: Type the RTS (Request-To-Send) threshol d in the text box.
LAN Setting The function enables user to configure t he LAN port IP address & DHCP Serve r. Basic This page leads to set LAN port properti es, such as the host name, IP address, and subnet mask. Figure 49. Host Name: Type the host name in the text box.

Access Control Setting This access control en ables you to define access restrictions, set up protocol and IP filters, create virtual serve rs, define access for special applications such as games, and set firewall rules. Filter Using filter to deny or allow the users to access.
Clear : Click to erase all fields an d enter new information. IP Filters The IP filter function enables you to define a minimum and ma ximum IP addres s range filter; all IP addresses falling within the range are not allowed I nternet access. The IP filter profiles are listed in the table at the bottom of the page.
URL Blocking You could enable URL blo cking to deny the users from acce ssing the sp ecified URL. Add th ose sp ecified URL in the text box. Figure 53 Enable / Disable: Enable or Disable the URL blocki ng functio n of the WLAN Router. Add: Click to add the specific URL to the URL bl ocking list.
Domain Blocking You could specify the domains that allo w u sers to access or deny by cli cking one of the two items. Also, ad d the specified domains in the text box. Figure 54. Disable: Disable the Domain Blocking functio n. Allow: Allow users to ac cess all domains except “B locking Domains”.
Protocol Filters This protocol filter enable s you to allow and deny acce ss ba sed upon a communication s protocol list you create. The protocol filter profiles are listed in the table at the bottom of the page. Note: When selecting item s in the table at the bottom, click anywhere in the it em.
The WLAN Router redire cts the request vi a the protocol and port numbers to the corre ct LAN server. The Virtual Sever profiles are listed in the tabl e at the bottom of the page. Note: When selecting item s in the table at the bottom, click anywhere in the it em.

Enable: Click to enable or disable the DMZ. DMZ Host IP: Type a host IP address for the DMZ. The computer with this IP address acts as a DMZ host with unlimited Internet a ccess.
Firewall Rule The firewall rule function enabl es users to set up the firewall. The WLAN Ro uter provides basic firewall functions, b y filtering all the packets that enter the WL AN Router using a set of rules. The ru les are listed in sequential order--the lower the rule number, the higher the priority the rule has.
Priority Down: Select a rule from the list and click “Priority Down” to decrease the priority of the rule. Update Priority: After increasing or d ecreasing the priority of a rule, click “Update Priority” to save the changes.
Time This function enables use rs to set the time and date for the WLAN Router's real-time clock, se lect prope rly time zone, and enable or disable daylight saving. Figure 60 Local Time: Displays the local time and date. Time Zone: Select the time zone from the drop-down list.
Device Information This function enables user s to view the WLAN Router’s WAN, Wireless, LAN and System configurations. Figure 61 WAN: This section di splays the WAN interface configuration includ ing the MAC address, Connec tion status, DHCP client status, IP address, Subnet mask, Default gateway, and DNS.
Log This function enables users to view a runni ng log of Route r system st atistics, events, and activities. The log displays up to 200 entries. Older entries are overwritten by new entries.
Log Setting This function enables user s to set Router Log parameters. Figure 63. SMTP Server: Type your SMTP server address here. Send to: Type an email address for the log to be sent to. Cli ck “Em ail Log Now” to immediately send the current log.
Statistic This function displays a table that s hows the rate of packet transmission via t he WLAN Ro uter’s LAN, WAN and Wireless ports (in bytes per secon d). Figure 64. Click “Reset” to erase all statistics and begin logging statistics again.
Firmware This function enables user s to keep the WLAN Router firmware up to date. Figure 66. Please follow the below instructions: Download the latest firmware from the m anufacturer's Web site, and save it to disk. Click “Browse” and go to the location of the downl oaded firmware file.
Configuration This function enables users to save settings as a profile and load profiles for different ci rcumstances. User can also load the factory default settings, and run a set up wizard to configure the WLAN Rout er and Router interface. Figure 67.
Ping Test The ping test enables users to determine whether an IP addre s s or host is present on the Internet. Type the ho st name or IP address in the text box and click Ping button to start the Ping test.
Remote Management This function enables users to set up remote ma nagemen t. Using remote management, the WLAN Router can be configured through the WAN via a Web browser. A us er name and passwo rd are required to perform remote management. Figure 70.
