4 Important information Make connections before using this unit. To create a home theater that can play back higher quality video and audio by fully utilizing the capabilities of the unit and your video devices, connect the unit to each of your video devices with HDMI cables.
5 Connecting HDMI devices You can connect up to five HDMI-compatible devices (4-inputs/1-output) to the this unit. If the device connected to this unit is equipped with an HDMI connector, it is recommended to use HDMI connections. Connections with an HDMI cable oer the following benefits that can not be achieved with other connection methods.
6 Connecting HDMI devices • Video signals are not output if the input video signals do not match the display’s resolution. In this case, switch the Blu-ray Disc/DVD player’s resolution to a resolution with which the display is compatible.
7 G Front panel H OUT HDMI Video camcorder You can enjoy games by connecting a game machine via the AUX HDMI connector. In this case, select the input source to “AUX”.

9 Connecting other devices For highest quality video and surround playback, it is recommended to use an HDMI cable to connect this unit to TV and other video devices ( v page5 “Connecting HDMI devices”). This section describes alternate connection methods when your device does not support HDMI connections.

How to tune in The modes for receiving FM/AM broadcasts consists of “AUTO” mode that automatically searches available broadcast stations and “MANUAL” mode that lets you tune in using buttons to change the frequency.

20 Tuning in radio stations TP (Trac Program) TP identifies programs that carry trac announcements. This allows you to easily find out the latest trac conditions in your area before leaving home. n TP search Use this function to find RDS stations broadcasting trac programs (TP stations).
21 • Some listening modes cannot be selected, depending on the audio format or number of channels of the input signal. 25 Procedure for speaker settings Speaker installation Speaker connection ( v page26 ) Speaker installation • Determine the speaker system depending on the number of speakers you are using and install each speaker and subwoofer in the room. Here, we explain how to install the speakers using a typical example.

30 Sleep timer function You can have the power automatically switched to standby once a set time has elapsed. This is convenient for viewing and listening while going to sleep. Press SLEEP and display the time you want to set. The SLEEP indicator on the display lights.
31 Menu map For menu operation, connect a TV to this unit and display the menu on the TV screen. For menu operations, see the following page. By default, this unit has recommended settings defined. You can customize this unit based on your existing system and your preferences.

The items (parameters) that can be adjusted depend on the signal being input and the currently set surround mode. For details on the adjustable parameters, see “Surround modes and surround parameters” ( v page53 ).

45 Information Information on the main unit’s various settings (Status) and on input signals (Audio Input Signal) is shown on the display. The information displayed changes each time you press STATUS on the main unit. The information is displayed for several seconds before the display returns to its original condition.
