1. Ensure that the work surface is flat and clean to prevent the computer cover from being scratched. 2. Turn off your computer (see Turning Off Your Computer ). 3. 5. Slide the new hard drive into the bay and into the connector until it is fully seated. 6. Replace the screws. 7. Removing and Installing Media Bay Devices 1. If present, remove the device security screw from the bottom of the computer (see Removing the Device Security Screw ). 2. Back to Contents Page Troubleshooting User's Guide Dell Technical Update Service The Dell Technical Update service provides proactive e - mail notification of software and hardware updates for your computer. The service is free and can be customized for content, format, and how frequently you receive notifications.
The computer runs the Pre - boot System Assessment, a series of initial tests of your system board, keyboard, hard drive, and display. l During the assessment, answer any questions that appear. l If a failure is detected, the computer stops and beeps.
