INTRODUCTION 1 2 INTRODUCTION 2.1 GRYPHON™ D432/D432E DESCRIPTION The Gryphon™ D43 2/D432E reader is an omni- directional barcode sca nner having the following characteristics: Plug and Play The G.
GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 2 2.2 PACKAGE CONTENTS The following parts are included in the Gr yphon™ D432/D432E package contents: • Gryphon™ D432/D432E Hand-Hel d Reader • Gryphon™ D432/D432E Quick Referenc e Manual You may want to save your packing material in case you need to ship the reader at some later time.
USING GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 3 3 USING GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 3.1 AIMING SYSTEM The Gryphon™ D432/D432E reader uses an intelligent aiming system. By pulling the trigger, the aiming system in dicates a field of vie w, which should be positioned over the code: Figure 1 - Aiming S ystem When you pu ll the trigger a r ed beam illum i nates the code .
GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 4 The field of view indicated b y the aiming system will be smaller when the Gryphon™ D432/D432E is closer to th e code and larger when it is farther from the code. Symbologies with smaller bars or ele ments (mil size) should be re ad closer to the unit.
USING GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 5 normal operation. T o capt ure another image you must re ad another Capture Image Code of the same or a diffe rent Preset Configuration. You can use the aiming s ystem to position the reader fro m the object (ensure th e reader is about centered ov er the target).
GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 6 3.3.2 Advanced Configuration Parameters An image porti on (Window), instea d of an entire image, ca n be captured. Thi s parameter is generally us ed for particular fixed reading pos ition applications.
USING GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 7 bright objects inside the ima ge will be better distinguish able. Default value is 0%, which means that no contrast adjustment is performed. You can set the Image Color Depth by sele ct ing 256 gray levels (default ), 16 gray levels, or 2 gray lev els.
GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 8 3.4.3 Stand Autorecognition Pair the reader to the stand paying attention to insert t he handle into the stand clip. Correct insertion will be signaled b y a be ep; then, the reader will be ready to read barcodes. Read the configur ation codes at page 70 to automaticall y enter in Normal or Pattern Autoscann ing mode.
USING GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 9 when a fixed r eading distanc e different from the Gryphon™ D432/D432E focus distance is used. T he Gryphon™ focus distance is 115 mm for Gr yphon™ D432, and 65 mm for Gryphon™ D432E. Refer to the VisualSetup software program for performing the aimi ng system calibration.
GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 10 3.6.1 Concatenation It is possible to concate nate up to 4 different cod es, set their length an d enable the intercode delay bet ween them (the intercode de lay is set in the specific interface parameters, see page 25, 2 7 and 32).

Once the re ader has read a code, it emits a good read beep and passes its d ata to the Host. When ACK/NACK is disabled, there is no co ntrol from reader to Host transmission.
REFERENCES 117 6.2 USB KEYBOARD 6.2.1 Keyboard Speed This parameter manages the transmission spee d of characters to the Host. A fast Keyboard Speed al lows rapid transmission of a great amount of characters (for example 2D codes), but it might not be compatible with slower systems.

GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 140 CONVENTIONS DESCRIPTION + Conc atenates two strings or fields. - Deletes a subs tring or a field from the original string. #DS Returns the string which has been d ecoded by the library. #F<n> Returns th e result of a format which has been previousl y defined.
PROGRAMMING FOR EXPERT USERS 141 SelectString (SSTR) This function has the following syntax: SSTR <source_string, pos_start, pos_end> Ö string It extracts a substring whose characters are between "pos _start" and "pos _end" from the "source_string".
GRYPHON™ D432/D432E 142 StringDiscard This function has the following syntax: string1 - string2 Ö string This function discards all th e strings having the same value as "string2" which can be found in "string1". If no "string2" is found with in "string1", the result returns "string1".
PROGRAMMING FOR EXPERT USERS 143 Examples The string transmitted is S 12345abc def3790 T and correspon ds to the #DS function, as defined in the programming language.
