21 Chapt er 3 : B asic Setup CAUTION: Avoid Choosing a “bright” image as the Background W al lpaper . Menu items may not be visible on a bright background. If a bright image is accidentally chosen, perform a Hardw are Reset to re vert to original, Fact ory-Def ault Background.
22 Chapt er 4: Connecting So Smart t o a Network 4.1 Setting Netw ork Sharing using Windows XP on y our PC In order to connect your So Smart Player to your local ar ea network or t o an individual PC, we need to configure the Internet Pr otoc ol on your PC : On your Win- XP PC, Click ST ART .
23 Chapt er 4: Connecting So Smart t o a Network Setting Up F older / Drive Sharing on Win- XP PC : Right - click the folder or drive that you want to share , and • then click SHARING AND SECURITY . Tip: If you w ant to share your entir e My Documents folder , open My Documents, and then click the UP button on the toolbar .
24 Chapt er 4: Connecting So Smart t o a Network Under the Sharing tab , as shown in the picture , you can do one of the following: Share this f older on the ne twork - This allows you to share • the c ontents of the drive or folder av ailable to other users on the network.
25 Chapt er 4: Connecting So Smart t o a Network Disabling Windows Fire wall: Network Sharing makes it possible for home and smal l office users to share the Local Are a Ne twork (LAN). In order to pre vent unsolicited network traffic on this LAN, Windows XP prot ects the connections via the Interne t C onnection Firew all (ICF).

Upon completing the setup as described below , the So Smart play er will acquire the IP addr ess aut omatically from y our router .

35 NO TE : Under Wireles s Network connection, media streaming may experience lag or jitters for some HD video files. Such problems ar e caused primarily due to insufficient bandwidth available via c ommon home-based wireles s rout ers. Wired 10/100 LAN connections are rec ommended for stre aming of HD - video .
36 Chapt er 5 : NDAS BA SIC SET UP 5.1 How t o setup NDAS in So Smart What is NDAS (Network Direct Attached Storage)? It is useful technology that makes your PC r ecogniz e Internal HDD inside So Smart which is c onnected to y our wired or wir eless home netw ork .

The display ed list (ic ons) consists of the last SIX rec ently-played video files. Using the R emote , naviga te to one of the se files and pres s ENTER / SELECT .
