This device integrates 10 0Mbps Fast Et hernet and 10Mb ps Ethernet netwo rk capabilities in one high-performance, easy-to-use solution. Purpose This manual will familiarize you with the DES-105/108 and guide you through the in stallat ion process.

7 I DENTIFYING E XTERNAL C OMPONENTS Front Panel The figure bel ow shows t he front panel of the DE S-105/108. DES-105/108 1 0/100Mbps Fast Ethern et Switch Power/LED: This green i ndicator li ght is o n when the DES-105/ 108 is re ceiving power; otherwise, it is off.
8 Rear Panel Power Jac k: Power is supplied throug h an exte rnal power adapter. Check the technical specification section for information about the power input voltage.

Step 2: Use the ground cable to place the #8 t erminal lug ring on top of the ground -screw ope ning, as seen in t he figure below.
10 CONNECTING THE SWITCH PC to DES-105/108 A computer ca n be connected to the DES- 105/108 via a two-pair C ategor y 3, 4, 5 UTP/ STP Straight -Throu gh or Cross over cable. A com puter equipped with a RJ-45 10/100Mb ps port can be connected to any of the five DES-105/ 108 ports.
11 Port Speed & Duplex Mode After plugging the selected cable to a s pecific port, the system uses auto- negotiation to determine the transmission mo de, auto-detecting the network spee d (10Mb ps or 10 0Mbps) fo r any new twisted -pair connect ion.
12 M OUNTING THE S WITCH ON A W ALL The DES-105/ 108 can al so be m ounted o n a wall. Tw o mounti ng slots a re provided on the botto m of th e switch for this purpose. Please make sure that the front panel is exposed in order to view the LEDs. Please refer to the illustration below: A.
