Assembly IMPORT ANT : T wo replacem ent auger sh ear pins are includ ed with this manual (or stowed in the p lastic han dle pan el). Refer to the Maintenan ce sec tion fo r more info rmation re garding sh ear pin replac ement.
Chute Assembly 1. Loosen , but do not r emove, the chute crank b racket in order to at tach ed the chu te assembly. See Fig. 3-3. 2. Remove lo ck nuts and s crews se curing on e of the f lang e keepe rs to the chute asse mbly. Loosen the f astener s of the other t wo f lang e keepe rs.
Tire Pressure ( Pneuma tic Tires ) The tire s can be over-inf lated fo r shipping p urp oses. Che ck the tire pressure b efore o peratin g the snow thrower. Refer to the tire side wall fo r manufa ct ures’s recommende d psi and de f late or inf late the tires as ne cessar y.

Auger C ontrol The aug er control is lo cated on th e lef t ha ndle. Squ eeze th e control grip ag ainst the han dle to engag e the auge rs and s tar t snow throwing ac tio n. Rel ease to stop. Drive Cont rol / Auger Clutch Lock The dr ive control is loc ated on the r ight handle.
Wheel S teering C ontrols The l ef t and ri ght whe el stee ring controls are l ocate d on the under side of the ha ndles. S quee ze the rig ht control to turn right ; sque eze the le f t control to turn l ef t. NOT E: Oper ate the snow thrower in op en areas until you are familiar with th ese controls.
Starting and S topping the En gine Refe r to the Engine Op erator ’s Manual packed w ith your snow thro wer for i nstructions on starting and st opping the e ngine. T o Eng age Dr ive 1. With the thr ottl e control in the Fast (rabbit) position , move shif t lever into one o f the six for ward (F) positions or t wo reverse (R) posi tions.
3. Slide the sh ave plate out of the of f-se t slot at the b ot tom of the housin g, and fro m bet we en the sk id shoe s and side panels of the housing. 4. With the m ounting ho les faci ng toward the ba ck of the unit, slide th e new shave plate into positio n and sec ure with the f astene rs previ ously rem oved and loos ene d.
1. Place the shif t lever in th e fastes t for ward sp ee d positi on. 2. Loosen t he hex nu t on the shif t cable inde x bracket . See F i g. 6-4 . 3. Pivot the bra cket downward to take up slack in th e cabl e. 4. Retighten th e hex nu t. NOT E: There are e x tra ho les in the sp ee d slec tor b racket shown in Fig.

Belt Replac ement Belt Removal Preparation 1. Remove the chut e crank rod from the chute crank a ssembly by removing the hair pin cli p shown in Fig. 7 - 1 . Move the chute crank r od away from the assembly as sho wn. 2. Remove the plastic belt cov er on the front of the engine by removing the three se lf-tapping s crews.
3. Pull t he brake bracket assembly to wards the cable guide roller and unhook the auger cable “Z” f it ting. Refer to Fig. 7 -5. 4. Fro m b oth sides of the frame assembly , use a 1 /2" wrench to rem ove the three he x tap screws securin g the transmis sion frame to the auger housing assembly .
Changing Fric tion Wheel The rubb er on the fric tion wheel is subjec t to wear and should be checked af ter the f irst 25 hours of op eration, and periodically thereaf ter . Replace the friction wh eel if any sign s of wear or cracking are found. 5. Run the fuel tank empt y .
10 . Slide the hex shaf t through the right side of the frame toward the left side and through the fric tion whee l a s s e m b l y. NOT E: If the sprocket fell from the snow t hrower cha in while removing the hex shaf t, position the hex hub of the sprocket to ward the fric tion wheel and place the sprocket in the chain.
Of f - S eason S torage If the snow thro wer will not be used for 30 days or longer , the equipment needs to be stored p roperly . Follow storage instructions below t o ensu re top performance from the snow thro wer for many more y ears.
