TRACTOR SET-UP Moving The Tractor Manually Yourtractor's transmission is equippedwith a hydrostatic relief valve for occasions when it is necessary to movethe tractor manually. Open- ing this valve permits the fluid in the transmission to bypass its normal route,allowing the rear tiresto "freewheel.
CONNECTING THE BATTERY CABLES Battery posts,terminals, and related accessories containlead and leadcompounds, chemicals knownto the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm.Washhands after handling. When attaching battery cables, always connect the POSiTiVE (Red) wire to its terminal first, followedby the NEGATIVE (Black) wire.
Adjusting the Seat To adjustthe positionof the seat, pull up and hold the seatadjustment lever.Slidethe seat forwardor rearward to the desired position; then release the adjustment lever.Makesure seat is locked into position in a seat-stop before operating the tractor.

iGNiTiON SWITCH MODULE To start the engine, insertthe key into the ignition switchand turn clockwise to the START position. Release the key into the NORMAL MOWING MODE positiononce the enginehas fired. To stop the engine, turn the ignition key counterclockwise to the STOP position.
FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR The Fuel Level Indicator is locatedon the left side of the tractor's dash and indicates the amount of fuel in the gas tank. PTO/BLADE ENGAGE KNOB Activating the PTO engages power to the cutting deck or other (separately available) attachments.
SAFETY iNTERLOCK SWITCH ES This tractor is equipped with a safety interlock system for the protection of the operator. If the interlock system should ever malfunction, do not operate the tractor.
REVERSE CAUTION MODE The REVERSE CAUTION MODEposition of the key switch module allowsthe tractor to be operated in reverse with the blades (PTO) engaged. NOTE: Mowing in reverse is not recommended. Use extreme caution while operating the tractor in the REVERSE CAUTION MODE.
Cruise Control Neverengage the cruise controllever while traveling in reverse. To set the cruisecontrol: 1. Slowlypressthe upper portion of the drive pedalwith your right foot until the desired speed is achieved. 2. Lightlypressthe parking brake/cruise controllever downward and hold it in that position.
Before performing any typeof maintenance/service, disengage all controls andstopthe engine. Waituntil all moving parts have come to a complete stop. Disconnect spark plugwire andground it against the engine to prevent unintended starting. Always wear safety glasses during operation or while performing any adjustments or repairs.
CUTTING DECK REMOVAL . . f Place the PTO/Blade Engageknob in the disengaged (OFF) positionand engagethe parking brake. Lower the deck by moving the deck lift lever into the bottom notch on the right fender. Locatethe PTO clutch underthe frontof your tractor.

J CHANGING THE DECK BELT The V-belts found on your tractor are specially designed to engage and disengage safely. A substitute (non-OEM) V-belt can be danger- ous by not disengaging completely.
. To place the new belt, begin by routing the belt around the two outer spindle pulleys as shownin Figure 15. CUTTING BLADES Shut the engineoff and removeignition key before removing the cutting blade(s) for sharpening or replacement. Protect your hands using heavy gloveswhen grasping the blade.
4. Jump Starting To properly sharpen the cutting blades,remove equal amounts of metalfrom both ends of the blades along the cutting edges, parallelto the trailing edge, at a 250. 300angle. Always grindeach cutting bladeedge equally to maintain properblade balance.
FUSE Before servicing,repairing, or inspecting, always disengage PTO (BladeEngageknob), set parking brake,stop engineand remove to prevent unintended starting. A fuse is installed in your tractor's wiring harness to protect the trac- tor's electrical system from damage causedby excessive amperage.
Changing the Engine Oil If the enginehas been recently run, the engine, muffler and sur- rounding metal surfaces will be hot and can causeburns to the skin. Exercise cautionto avoid burns. NOTE: The oil filter should be changed at every oil change interval.
Fuel Filter IVluffler Gasoline and its vaporsare extremely flammable and explosive. Fire or explosion can causesevereburns or death. • Keepgasoline awayfrom sparks,open flames,pilot lights, heat, and other ignition sources. • Check fuel lines, tank, cap, and fittingsfrequently for cracks or leaks.
CLEANING THE TRACTOR Any fuel or oil spilled on the machineshould be wiped off promptly. Do NOTallow debris to accumulate aroundthe cooling fins of the engine, the transmission's cooling fan or on any other part of the machine, especially the belts and pulleys.
Deck Spindle Grease fittingscan be found on each deck spindle.See Figure 26. Lubricate with 251H EP grease or an equivalent No. 2 multi-purpose lithiumgrease.
3. Loosen,but do NOT remove, the hex bolt on the left deck hanger bracket.See Figure 28. f Hex Bolt ustment -Gear Figure 28 4. Usinga wrench, raise or lower the left side of the deck by turning the adjustment gear. See Figure 28. The deck is properly leveled when both blade tip measurements takenearlierare equal.

Lavese las manosdespuesde estar en contacto con estos componentes.
Ajuste del asiento Para ajustarla posici6n del asiento,firelo haciaarriba y sostengala palanca de ajuste del asiento.Deslice el asiento hacia adelante o hacia atr_s a la posici6n deseada; luegosuelte la palancade ajuste. AsegQrese de que el asientoeste trabado en un tope de asiento antes de operar el tractor.

INTERRUPTORES DE BLOQUEO DE SEGURIDAD Este tractor est_ equipadocon un sistema de bloqueo de seguridadpara protecci6n del operador. Si el sistema de bloqueo funciona mal, no se debe hacerfuncionar el tractor. Comuniquese con Sears u otro distribuidorde servicio calificado.
No abandone el asiento del tractorsin colocar primero la perilla de PTO/ enganche de cuchilla en la posici6nOFF (apagado) y sin colocar el freno de mano.
Control de crucero Nuncaenganche la palancade control de crucero mientras se desplazaen marcha arras. Para colocarel controlde crucero: 1. Presione lentamente la porci6n superiordel pedal de transmisi6ncon el pie derechohasta que se alcancela velocidad deseada.
Antes de realizarcualquier tipo de mantenimiento o servicio, desenganche todos los controles y detenga el motor.Esperea que se detengan completa- mente todas las piezas m6viles. Desconecteel cable de la bujia y p6ngalo haciendo masa contra el motor para evitar que se encienda accidental- mente.
EXTRACCION DE LA PLATAFORIVlA DE CORTE 1. Coloque la perilla de la potenciade arranque(PTO) (enganche de cuchilla) en la posici6n OFF (apagado) y activeel freno de mano. 2. Baje la plataforma colocando la palancade elevaci6nde la plataforma dentro de la muescainferior en el guardabarros derecho.
7. Repita los pasos anteriores del lado derechodel tractor. 8. Muevala palancade elevaci6n de la plataforma a la muescasuperior para levantar los brazosde elevaci6n de la plataforma y retirarlos del paso.
5. Para colocarla correa nueva,comience pasandola alrededorde las dos CUCHILLAS DE CORTE poleas de husillo externascomo se ve en la Figura 15. 6. Pase luego la correa alrededorde las dos poleas Iocasde la plataforma, como se ve en la Figura 15. 7. Vuelva a ajustar la varilla del guardacorrea que afloj6 antes.
4, Paraafilar las cuchillas de corte correctamente, extraiga cantidades iguales de metal de ambosextremosde las cuchillas a Io largo de los hordes cortantes,paralelo al horde de ca[da, a un &ngulode 25° a 30°. Afile siempre cada borde de las cuchillas de corte de forma pareja para mantener un equilibrioadecuadoentre las mismas.
FUSIBLE Antes de realizar tareas de mantenimiento, reparaciones o inspecciones, desconecte siempre la PTO (perilla de enganchede cuchillas), coloque el freno de mano, apague el motor y retirela Ilave, paraevitar que alguien encienda accidentalmente el motor.
Cambio de aceite del motor Si el motor se ha puestoen funcionamiento recientemente, el motor, silencia- dor y las superficiesmet_licascircundantes estar_n calientes y pueden causar quemaduras en la piel. Tenga precauci6nparaevitar quemaduras. NOTA: El filtrodel aceite debe reemplazarse en cada intervalo de cambiode aceite.
Filtro de combustible Silenciador Lagasolina y el vaporde gasolina sonsumamente inflamables y explosivos. El fuegoy las explosiones pueden causar quemaduras graves y tambien la muerte. • Mantenga la gasolina alejadade chispas, llamasexpuestas,llamas piloto, calor, y otras fuentes de ignici6n.
LIMPIEZA DEL TRACTOR Si se derrama combustibleo aceite sobre la m_quina, debe limpiarsede inmediato.NO permitaque se acumulen desechos alrededorde las aletas de refrigeraci6n del motor, el ventilador de refrigeraci6n de la transmisi6n ni en ninguna otra parte de la m&quina, especialmente las correas y poleas.
Husillo de plataforma Los accesorios de engrasese pueden encontrar en cada husillo de la plataforma. Vea la Figura 26. Lubriquecon grasa 251H EPo con una grasa de litio multiusoN o 2 equivalente. Con una pistolade engrasar, haga dos aplicaciones(mfnimo) o suficientegrasa al eje de husillo.
