ii i iillll ASSEMBLY CONNECT BATTERY (See Fig. 2) i ,,,,uJnuJt CAUTION: Do not short battery termi- nals. Before connecting battery, re- move metal bracelets, wristwatch bands, rings, etc. Positive terminal must be connected first to prevent sparking from acciden- tal grounding.
ASSEMBLY INSTALL MOWER AND DRIVE BELT (See Figs. 4 and 7) Be sure tractor is on love! surface and mower suspension arms are raised with attachment lift control,, Engage park- ing brake° o Cut and remove ties securing anti-sway bar and belts.

Always wear safety glasses or eye shields while operating your tractor or performing any adjustments or repairs.
OPERATION TO ADJUST GAUGE WHEELS (See Fig. 7) Adjust gauge wheels with tractor on a flat level surface° o Adjust mower to desired cutting height° - Lower mower with lift control. Remove rear retainer spring and clevis pin which secure each gauge wheel.
OPERATION ADD GASOLINE • Fill fuel tank, Use fresh, clean, regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane. (Use of leaded gasoline wil! increase carbon and lead oxide deposits and reduce valve life). Do not mix oil with gasoline. Purchase fuel in quantities that can be used within 30 days to assure fuel freshness.

C RESPONSIBI TRACTOR Always observe safety rules when performing any mainte- nance. BRAKE OPERATION o e o If tractor requires more than six (6) feet stopping distance at high speed in highest gear, then brake must be adjusted. (See 'q'O ADJUST BRAKE" in the Service and Adjust- ments section of this manual).
CUSTOMER i .................. BATTERY Your tractor has a battery charging system which is suffi- cient for norma_ use However, periodic charging of the battery with an automotive charger will extend its life.
CUSTOMER ................................ , ,, ,, ,, ,,, CLEAN AIR SCREEN (See Fig. 15) Air screen must be kept free of dirt and chaff to prevent engine damage from overheating_ Clean with a wire brush or' compressed air to remove dirt and stubborn dried gum fibers.

ICE AND ADJUSTMENTS FRONT-TO-BACK ADJUSTMENT (See Figs. 20 and 21) - IMPORTANT: DECK MUST BE LEVEL SIDE-TO-SIDE.. IF THE FOLLOWING FRONT-TO-BACK ADJUSTMENT IS NECESSARY, BE SURETO ADJUST BOTH FRONT LI.
SERVmCE AND ADJUSTMENTS TO REPLACE MOWER BLADE DRIVE BELT (See Fig. 23) Park the tractor on level surface° Engage parking brake° = Remove mower drive belt (See'70 REPLACE MOWER DRIVE BELT" in this section of this manual), = Remove mower (See 'q'O REMOVE MOWER" in this section of this manual).
Ikll II IIll VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS TO REPLACE MOTION DRIVE BELT (See Fig. 26) Park the tractor on level surface_ Engage parking brake_ For ease of service there is a belt installation guide decal on bottom of left footrest. It is not necessary to remove mower.
TO REMOVE WHEEL FOR REPAIRS FRONT WHEEL (See Fig° 29) ° Block up axle securely_ o Remove axle cover, retaining ring and washersto ailow wheel removal. ° Repair tire and reassemble. o Replace washers and snap retaining ring securely in axle groove. • Replace axle cover.
SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS TO ADJUST ATTACHMENT LIFT SPRING (See Fig. 31) • While holding spring bushing with wrench, loosen jam nut. • Turn adjustment bolt crockwise to extend spring and reduce lift effort for heavier attachments.
SERVmCE ADJUSTMENTS ENGINE TO ADJUST THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE (See Fig. 33) The throttle control has been preset at the factory and adjustment should notbe necessary Check adjustment as described below before loosening cable.
TO ADJUST CARBURETOR (See Fig. 33) The carburetor has been present at the factory and adjust- merit should not be necessary_ However, minoradjustment may be required to compensate for" differences in fuel, temperature, altitude or load.
STORAGE Immediately prepare your tractor for storage at the end of the season or if the tractor will not be used for 30 days or more. I :, ....................... CAUTION: Never store the tractor with I gasoline in the tank inside a building I where fumes may reach an open flame i or spark.
